Ah, yes, I have been called a troll and at the time I was trolling. I was doing it in a particular Webtv newsgroup just to tick some people off. :rotfl2: It was great fun watching these middle aged ninnies get their drawers in a bunch over a bunch of words on a tv screen.

Now, I am long past that behavior, but in the day, it was kinda fun. Maggie

OMG - how is Madison getting so big!?!?! She looks great!!!

Not to hijack, but thanks! It's amazing how fast they grow, isn't it? BTW, that Buzz hat on Nick get major points from Madison. She is the ultimate Buzz fan, which isn't too easy as a girl. I guess I'll be making her a Buzz shirt for our next trip (otherwise she's stuck with the blue ones Disney makes  ).

Yes, I have been called a troll because my opinions are pretty strong. I have also used this photo:

more than once in a thread.

There is also this one:

And this one ...

Yes, because my post count was low. truth is, I forgot my password because I hadnt posted inawhile and changed my login. In reality, I have been with the boards for many years, longer than probably 60% of the people here.

No, I've never been called a troll. But I've felt that some people are trolls, but I'm too chicken to call anyone on it.

I guess I missed something good last night--couldn't connect to the internet. Darn dial-up!

I have a friend who had over 20,000 posts here who was recently called a troll by the high and mighty powers because he totally disagreed with board policy and refused to step down from his position. He was banned.

On the internet, TROLL is a hugely pejorative term used to discredit someone whose point of view doesn't agree with yours. It usually says more about the person saying it than it does about the person being termed it.

Just some food for thought........
The word troll is one of the most misused terms I've seen. It has nothing to do with agreement or disagreement with another's opinion. It should only be used to label someone postng for the sole purpose of stirring trouble.

If the "high and mighty powers" can't handle a little disagreement then they need to reevaluate what they're doing here, or maybe find some small Caribbean island in need of a despot.

Or Gina, maybe your friend is just a troublemaker. :teeth:

Ok I just took a look at the poll and are real trolls are fast aprouching are wrongly acused ones! :rotfl:

I voted no. At least to the best of my knowledge no one has called me a troll.

I have never called a person a troll nor have I been called one... although some poeple might want to!! I also always look at the amount of posts a person has and answer the questions appropriatly....... more detailed if there are less pots etc....... I am sure that I asked some ridiculus questions when I was on this board in the begining and I live in Florida and knew alot about Disney etc. in the first place.... I cant imagine how clueless I would be had I never been or lived in another state. Yes the same questions have been asked a million and one times but for someone new they dont know that and may not have realized that there is a search function etc. I try to cut them alot of slck.....we were all new here one time

I think it is very rude to call someone a troll and very judemental to boot..... I dont agree with you so let me call you a troll.

Some people do purposly start trouble though I am sure but some people really just dont know better.Like the person you are referring to as I read that thread.

I think that a lot of the posters that ask the "bad" questions like those pertaining to resort mugs and pool hopping are often trolls. But I also think that sometimes the posters are just clueless and wonder what all the fuss is about. I mean, the Universal hotels allow pool hopping so why not wonder if the Disney resorts do?

But some people immediately get all bent out of shape and assume that the OP is a just a troll. I have to admit that some of the threads are kind of funny though. ;)

I was on a parent message board for DDs charter school and this guy kept calling me a Nazi and everything. Our discussions got quite heated, but I never called names or anything. He kept calling me a troll over and over and "reporting" me, but once the administrators saw the details, he was kicked off and eventually his kids were kicked out of the school. Felt pretty good being vindicated!

I've never been called a troll (at least not to my knowledge) and I am a little confused about the term. As Gina 2000 said, how can a troll be someone with 20,000 posts? I always thought a troll was someone who popped in for a quick moment to cause trouble and then popped out never to be heard from again.

I once got called a troll on a wedding planning board. Well they didn't come out and call me a troll but they accused me of making up a story to get attention. How sad is it when your real life is so screwed up that it sounds unreal! I had a lot of posts at the time though, so that comment didn't effect me too much.

That's the true definition of troll, Indy. Unfortunately, many site members and administrators now use it whenever people question the prevailing opinions on the site. I've seen it happen in more than one place.

Oh.....if my friend is a troublemaker, then I'm a beautiful, young, princess in an ivory tower waiting for my prince to come.

Don't answer that. :rotfl2:

Prevailing opinions or prevailing whims?

I didn't know you lived in an ivory tower. What do those go for in Joisey these days?

Yes, if they are causing trouble....

I'll admit it - I was called a troll and technically I was sort of trolling...here on the DIS. Not under this username. I don't do it anymore, I swear!
