Have you ever been asked to leave a restaurant?

This is exactly why some small restaurants in our area had to start making some seniors' coffee klatches less welcome. They had all the time in the world and nothing to do but sit and talk over coffee. Apparently many of them now gather at McDonald's every morning.

The McDonald's by me is exactly like that. It's next door to a tire store where I've had service done, so I've gone there from time to time to work while I'm waiting and every time I've been in there, there's always a group of 6-8 old men solving the world's problems over coffee. Granted, it's generally empty there on a weekday morning, so I don't think anyone cares that much.

I don't think it's an issue at McDonald's, especially at breakfast. I'm not really familiar, but I don't think sitdown breakfast at McDonald's is a happening hotspot.

From the thread title I thought this was going to be something like "GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT!" because of something OP did. Not "can you like, hurry up?".

As a teenager I know we were kind of a burden at the local diner. Come in at 12am or 1am, stay a few hours, but only order like two plates of cheese fries with gravy. The servers never really appreciated it.

I agree that it's bad business to ask anyone to leave your restaurant, but I would also say that during breakfast hours, especially in a busy place, turning over tables is essential. Breakfast checks aren't generally very large, so for the restaurant as well as the servers, it's essential to turn as many tables as they can to maximize revenue.

Of course that is true, but in this business you get what you get: you don't piss off a guest that stays a little too long or spends a little too little. You want them to come back. For those who will say the ones that wait for a table are also a consideration, that is true - that is why you treat all with respect: stay a little too long, tip a little too little, order a little too slight, all are customers. Hospitality. That is the business. Hopefully, it all evens out.

This id why some McDonald's have 30 min limits. There are a couple McDonald's here which have had afterschool brawls that the cops have had to break up because the kids stay too long & have turf wars.

You can't really compare McDonalds to a real restaurant.

Wow, never heard about that. Some malls in the area had issues with teens getting out of hand, but I have no idea about McD's.

Full disclosure, I cannot personally eat at McDonald's so I'm a little out of the loop. I know about several in our area having regular senior coffee klatches through people I know and some info from work. If I get a chance I'll ask someone if they know if that's happening around here.
