I have been in the final poll of the photo contest here about 3 or 4 times, and almost always, I thought someone else should win. I even voted for someone else once because I was so impressed with their pic.

Has this happened to you?

With all the talent on here, I feel so humbled. There is a lot of talent on this board.

I have always dreamed that if I won a big lotto, I could have my favs join me at WDW because I would love to see you all work at getting good shots. It would be awesome.

keep up the awesome work guys...:thumbsup2

no but then again i don't enter ;)
i think the way it's set up sometimes you get a poll with all good ones and have to eliminate all but one and sometimes a poll has not so good ones and you still have to vote for one...( not saying yours are bad cause how would i know which yours are;) ) so i think the final poll kind of makes it more equal. i just hate it when i see 2 equally good ones in the same poll and have to vote on only one

It must be just me...Most of the time, I don't feel I have anything worthy of posting compared to the shots I have seen on here.

Some people on here say they are amateurs but they have a PRO eye for photography.

I really wish I had 1/2 the passion most do on here.

Noone should feel this way. My favorite photo contests are those that a gajillion entries ranging from poor quality snapshots through really professional looking ones that took forever to setup.

Remember it's not just image quality that makes a photo good, some of those poor quality snapshots have really interesting perspective and composition. If you've ever looked at a childs photographs, you know what I mean.

I know...I still enter. I have just been so amazed at the quality of the work here.

It`s rare to find a site of Photo enthusiasts that don`t jump on the new guys telling them how horrible their pics are.

I really appreciate coming on here. It feels like home.

We have had a bad 2 years around here with both my parents suffering from Cancer and I can`t tell you guys how often you have made my day with an awesome image or a bit of advice. All these pics of my favorite place on earth have made me smile when I did not think it possible.

:)

My photos are amateurish junk mostly, but I hope that warm thoughts being sent to you today will bring back your smile for a few moments. I'm sorry that things have been so difficult.

that's terrible about your parents and maybe you just aren't seeing a whole lot of fun in your life right now so that could make you less enthusiastic about your photos as well? ( armchair psychology probably worth as much as you spent for it;) ) i remember seeing some of your shots on the other threads and liking them so i think it might just be hard to really see yourself clearly right now. and i think rtphokie is right, ( like pea's thread a while back about male/female photogs) it depends on how you are judging something...do you judge on pristine technique or the emotion it gives. they must be hitting an emotional chord with many viewers if they are making it into the finals cause i remember most saying they judge on emotion. that's not a bad thing, in fact i was just listening to a podcast where the photographer was saying how hard it is to portray your emotion to someone else( harder than getting the right iso/dof/wb etc since you can't really memorize that :lmao:) and you must be accomplishing that.
and that whole idea about constantly being bombarded by criticism on other sites, i have seen a few that aren't like that( one was fairly new and don't remember it's name) but they gave critique with out the stabs which was good .... too bad i can't remember which ones they are:rolleyes:

Thanks all...

It's actually been a good day. My Dad is eating again and has a little less pain today. We take our victories where we can find them.

I took a few pics yesterday during a snow storm so I was again limited to my house but I had fun. I guess that is the point...TO HAVE SOME FUN.

The lotto here in Canada tonight is 43 million and unlike the US we get to keep it all (the winning are not subject to taxes) so if I win, I will send out some PM's to organize a trip to WDW on me so we can all take photos together...Wish me luck.
