Have you Ever attended a U.S. Presidents' Speech

I have!!! I went to see President Bush peak here in Pensacola in August of 2004! I loved it- it was AMAZING!!! :cloud9:

Clinton when he was campaignin for re-election, and "future" president Hillary Clinton, who is one of the best orators I have ever seen. I don't if she's electable, but she has a way of connecting with an audience.

How tight was the security? President Bush is visiting Kansas State University and there are no handbags allowed.

When Hillary was running for Senator the first time, we were at her Democratic nomination party and President Clinton came as well and spoke. It was AMAZING! We were very close b/c my dh works for the NYS Democrats - it was very cool.

I went to a few of GWB's rally speeches. They were AWESOME! :cool1:

I saw Reagan in Philly once, though I honestly paid very little attention as I was not a fan. I just happened to be in the vicinity when he was speaking and had to pass right through the area where the speech was occurring.

Reagan spoke at my high school. This was quite a while ago and security wasn't very tight. Our whole school plus most of the other schools in our disctrict were there. They held the speech out on the football field. It was cold and rainy and we had to sit in the bleachers for hours before he got there. Everyone had to pack a lunch in a brown bag but I don't remember them even checking your lunch, I just remember metal detectors. Our school gave him one of our football jerseys with "GIPPER" on the back.
It was a pretty neat experience. Clinton did the same thing a few years later and my sister got to be one of the students to meet him. I can't imagine how tight security would be if they did the same thing today.

4 I think. Nixon, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II. Actually ALL of them were awesome experiences. Would love to have attended a Reagan speech.

I saw the unelected president speak in 1976. Security was nothing like it is now. DH was a VIP at a Bush speech (b/c of his job, not b/c he likes Bush -- he want me to tell you that), and he was thoroughly inspected ahead of time and that day.

We went to a GWB rally in 2004 and it was FANTASTIC!!! We also saw the next governor of PA (Lynn Swann) speak at the same rally!!!!!!!

No. The closest I ever got was a speech at my high school by Elizabeth Dole when she was Secretary of Transportation.

I heard Bush (the first one) speak at an Air Force Academy graduation in '91. It was pretty cool even though I didn't really like him. We had to walk through metal detectors but that was about it. I remember wondering how hard it really would be to sneak a weapon in there. (Not that I was contemplating it, it just seemed odd that security did not appear to be very tight.)

I saw Reagan in 1988 at Ohio State when I was a sophmore there. He spoke at the arena. I wasn't a fan but wanted to be there because it's still cool to see a President.

I saw Clinton once when he visited our state, attended a small fund-raiser with Hillary which was really neat because of the size of the crowd we got to talk for a little while, worked an event when Gore was campaigning in our state and was speaking at an elementary school....both DH and I work in politics so we interact with lots of politicians....

I've seen two Presidents speak. I saw Reagan when he came to my college (BGSU) in the fall of 84 when he was running for reelection. Not only was it cool to see him, but all of the national correspondents were there like Lesley Stahl and Chris Wallce. I also saw Bush in my town in late August of 04. He spoke in a local historical fort. It was so crowded and I kept slipping because I was on a hill and it was muddy. Lee Ann Womack appeared before he came on. As we were walking away his bus went by and he waved at my kids and they were really thrilled.
I also saw Bush Sr. in 84 when he was campaigning for VP, and Gore in 92 when he was up for VP as well. Clinton came to Toledo a couple of times but always when I was working.

Clinton spoke on my college campus (Birmingham-Southern) and the security was almost unbearable. I remember my dorm (not my room) faced where he was to be speaking outside and we all got notes on our doors from the secret service basically saying to not even touch your blinds on the side he was going to be on because if the secret service thought there might be a threat they would have to shoot. I remember seeing snipers on top of some of the buildings as well. Once Clinton was on-campus pretty much no one was allowed to move.

I saw President Ford when he was campaigning to be elected. He was in the neighboring town, but OUR high school band was asked to play "Hail to the Chief".

I saw Clinton speak at the '92 Democratic convention when he was running. "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow". It was amazing! When we were leaving, Jackie O. was riding on the escalator right in front of me.

I saw George Bush speak during "Cop Week" in DC. We were there for the dedication of the names of officers that had been killed in the line of duty that year to be put on the law Enforcement memorial....and unfortunately we were there because my husband's lieutenant had been killed....so the whole experience was very surreal. I am not a Geoge Bush fan in the least.....but in that moment, and with him talking about all of the fallen officers, it truly was an honor to hear his speech and have him there.
