Have you ever approached someone with a Lime Green Mickey Head?

I got this idea from All7OfUs & Maroo's "Going with Strangers" trip report....

Have you ever seen someone with a Lime Green Mickey Head at the World, gotten up the courage to approach them, then been completely surprised by the response?

Yes!

My first trip there, it seemed the DIS lime was a lot more popular than it is now. I ran into several people wearing shirts, tags, mickey heads, and other things... even labeled as DIS. I only got one friendly response to saying hi! The others looked at me like I was an idiot.

Why on earth would you identify yourself as a DISer if you're not willing to say hi to other DISers?

Ironically, I have met quite a few other DISers who weren't labeled as such in any way. It was just through getting friendly in lines, restaurants or attractions.

I always wear a LGMH and always say Hi to others when I see them. Every time I at least get a "Hi" and other times a nice chat. The most "surprising" or unique experience I have had was one of the very first times that someone saw my LGMH-- in the ASMo Food Court and said Hi. We had a great chat for a few minutes and now are very good friends and have gotten together several times since then, including a trip to Disney.

First time I went to disney after I found out about the dis. I made up my lgmh and off I went. I was heading out of the food court at ASMo.. and seen someone with one. I said something to her and we chatted and even took a picture of us together with our lgmh's... We exchanged info and started chatting non stop. Now she is one of my best friends in the world. We visit with each other often as we can.. Even have done a girls trip together..

That same trip I was a WCC and see a whole table of people with Lime green T shirts on and and a mickey on the front. I said something and got that what the heck are you talking about lady look...

Lime green is sort of the (un)official DIS color, so if you see someone with a laminated lime green head or one on their shirt, it could be that they are from the DIS.

I got a strange look on 9/4 at MNSSHP my dad saw a group of folks with homemade shirts on walking up to watch Hallow-wishes and commented it was similar to the boys shirts which are Disigns from here.. So I assumed (my mistake) they might be Dis family walked a whole 5 ft from where they stood/sat and took a look at the shirt well this man gave me a look that should of threw me back 10 feet geess I was only looking at your HOMEMADE shirts!! I said oh we thought they were the same design my family had on sorry my mistake.. GEES don't wear original deisgns if you dont' want folks to look at them - and they were a dis-design I have seen on the Dis too..
He didn't crack a smile or anything and my son 11 said alittle loud (he doesn't use inside voices to often) as I was heading back to my family: Guess they don't find Disney and neat shirts as exciting as you mom!

i need a new lime green mickey. Was thinking of buying some lime green tees and making mickey heads on them with bleach. seems like the cheapest way to make shirts for 5 in 5 sizes.

I have been approached a couple of times because of mine. I didn't recognize either persons screenames, but it was fun to meet someone. We didn't really chat though, just a brief hi.
I actually had more people approach me at MNSSHP because they knew what my costume was going to be. They were much friendlier and chattier that way.

I didn't notice a single LGMH when we where there earlier this month.

Once at BWV. my two year old twins we being mostorous, really horrible after a late flight early morning deal. I was beyond mortified and self consious.
A woman at the counter kept staring at me and staring at me. I was so POED!!!!! when i got home I wrote a trip report and mentioned thier behavior and my embarrassnment and how people were straing. and the ladt PM'ed me and said she wasn't staring at the kids she saw my mickey head but was afraid to approach me. LOL

Last February I "met" 2 DISsers. I was in the food court at Pop and spoke to a person with a LGMH. It was Tevagirl (Denise) and we had a nice chat. Then I also saw a display in a room window at Pop and PMed Pampam when I got home to let her know I saw her room.

I personally think all the posts on this board are from the same person and me. I have only seen 2 LGMH in all our trips. I did approach them and they were very nice. I have approached people who had things that looked like they were from the Dis- you know, t-shirts, all lime green luggage complete with mickey tags etc. and nothing. They look at me like I have 9 heads. I promise I am not one of those weird people you meet on vacation. We are a nice family and always meet lots of nice people. Just no Dissers. I used to put LGMH everywhere. Now I don't even bother.

When I went to WDW last April I made a big pin with a lime green Mickey head and wore it everywhere. My DH and DD made fun of me all week and DD kept trying to convice me I should ditch the pin. Finally, on the last day, a Security CM at AK asked if I were a Dis'er. I was so excited I forgot to even ask her screen name. At least I could then tell DH and DD "I told you so" .
