Have you cruised without a veranda after having a veranda on prior cruise?

I was wondering how it felt to NOT have the veranda when you already experienced cruising with a veranda.

Yes we did we had a cat 4 and then a cat 9 it was ok but we opted for a cat 7 for our next , we liked having verandah on 7 day cruise.... Coffee and room service on the verandah is nice.....

We had always had a Cat 6, but on the last 3 night on the Wonder we did an inside Cat 11. I really didn't miss the veranda as much as I thought I would, but did miss the extra storage space. Next trip is in a Cat 7. I wouldn't mind doing a Cat 11 for short trips, but feel we need the extra room for the 7 night.

Our experience was similar to NCRedding.

We to have always done Cat 6 before trying a recent 4-day in cat 11. While I missed the sun-shine and view we used to get with the verandha, we didn't miss the verandha it self too much.

We did instanly miss the extra storage space available in any Deluxe room over the Standard room of a cat 11.

We've already got our next 7-day cruise booked, its with a verandha.

Had a cat 5 with verandah deck 7 on a three day and didn't use it much. Then took a 7 day in a cat 10 deck 7. We loved it.
Enjoyed the extra money we saved while staying in the cat 10.
Did a 3 day cat 9 deck 2 and really liked the window (free upgrade) but would not pay extra for it in the future.
Have a 7 day cat 11 in a few weeks. We are hardly ever in our room so a verandah doesn't make much difference to us plus our children are all older. BUT if you have a younger children that needs to nap I would go with the verandah so that you can enjoy the sun while your child sleeps. If your a non smoker just hope you don't get stuck next to a smoker. :D
Just being on the ship is awesome.:bounce:

We are getting ready for our 3rd cruise, so I totally understand your dilemma.

Our first cruise was a 4 night, we had a veranda. Then we did the 7 night, cat 9. We are going on the 7night again and we are going back to the veranda.

We missed it so much and considering this is our 3rd cruise and our kids seem to spend more time in the kids club every time. We enjoy just sitting on the veranda by ourselves.

Our first cruise we had a porthole.
Our second we had a balcony.
Our third we are getting an inside.

I don't think I would book a 7 day with a verandah. I enjoy sitting there with my morning coffee or the early evening with a glass of wine. We did a SPR 5520 for a 3 day and it was fine. For a short cruise it is not worth the extra expense.

We always did cat. 6 or 7.........but on this last cruise we initially booked a 7 and then when Florida res. rates came out we downgraded to a 10 and saved almost $1000 (cat. 7's weren't included in the Fl. res. rates). So--for the same square footage inside (I know--I know--not including the verandah) we thought it was worth the savings.

Yes our first 2 cruises (7-day) we did cat 6's. Then for out 3 day we agreed we didn't need it so we got a Cat 10 SPR. And eally I didn't miss it on my 3 day.

First & third cruises we had one & used it constantly & enjoyed it thoroughly.

Second cruise we had an SPH Room (I never remember the room #'s or categories without looking them up, don't know how others do it  ). It was a very nice room & we enjoyed looking out the porthole, but there's nothing like a verandah!

Having said that, we are cruising a 4-nt this January back in an SPH room because we were able to save a lot of $$$. I know we'll miss the verandah, though.

We'll just have to go back soon after !!!! ::yes:: :hyper:

For our first two cruises (7-day and a 4-day) we had a CAT5 each time. My third cruise (a 4-day) I had a CAT8 and have no regrets. We have a CAT8 booked for next cruise (a 7-day) and we're still just as excited. Wish we could afford the verandah next time, but we have no regrets about booking the porthole again.

Actually, we LOVED the verandah, but we're just happy to be cruising and for the natural light from the porthole.

Our first DCL cruise we had a verandah. It was alright but we were rarely in the room much less the verandah. We felt that it was a waste of our money.

Our 2nd, 3rd & 4th we had an inside stateroom. We spent the money we saved in the ship's store. The less space was never an issue for us.

Our next cruise .... inside stateroom.

we have cruised ten times now, with always having a verandah for all but two. On one, I was by myself with a window in the room, and that was ok. The last time our TA made a mistake and put us on a ship at xmas time that had no verandahs. We really love our verandah.

On DCL I booked a verandah (cat 5) once, but liked my usual cabins down on deck 2 with the big porthole better. I enjoy being closer to the water, and I think cruising on HAL had spoiled me. Their verandahs are much nicer, and are deep enough for a chaise lounge chair plus a sitting chair - instead of those 2 small chairs on Disney. Add to that the significant difference in price, and when I cruise DCL (which I've done 3 times a year lately) I stick with category 9, oceanview. When I cruise with HAL (once a year) I go for the verandah every time!

We did our three-peat on the Wonder in a secret porthole room after doing many cruises with a verandah (and many without). Since we were doing three in a row, we wanted to be budgetary. 5650 is my favorite stateroom, as I love spending "quality verandah time." But I can honestly say that I still enjoyed our cruises, even though I missed having breakfast outside or grabbing a little relaxation. Instead of reading out on the verandah, I would go to deck 4, deck 7 aft, or the heated tile loungers in the Rainforest. We also did a lot of hot tubbing. With all there is to do on board, we were rarely in the stateroom anyway (when we have a verandah, we make sure to slot in some outside relaxation time). A verandah is certainly the ideal, but you can have a great time in an inside stateroom too.

I've done both and my cruise has been outstanding both times, but verandahs do spoil you!

Cruise #1 was a Cat. 6 and #2 was a Cat 4 - we then went to a Cat 10 and for our next cruise I have booked a Cat 11. All cruises have been the 7 day ininerary. While the verandah is nice - I would rather be on the ship without or cruise more often that have a verandah. Just my opinion but backed up with the fact that we don't spend that much time out there to justify the cost.

We have done both. On our first cruise (the OLD Disney-Big Red Boat) we had a veranda and we loved it. Our last cruise was on RCCL Sovereign of the Seas, which has no verandas. I thought I would really miss the veranda, but I didn't.
I think on our Disney cruise we will be so busy that we won't spend much time in the rooms!
I feel that it is really individual preference. It's important to consider how much time you will spend in the room, and on the veranda. I think if my kids were young, and napped, I may opt for the veranda.
Wouldn't it be great if all decisions in life were so tough? : )

Cruise #1 & #2 - Regular veranda mid-ship. Nice!

Cruise #3 - tried a Navigators Veranda - loved it

Cruise #4 - Cat 8 porthole. Nice since it was only a 4 day.

Cruise #5 & #6 (this Dec.) - back to the Navigator. My favorite!
