Have you cancelled one of your cruise party booked on cash?

There is a good chance that one member of our group will not make our cruise. This person was booked on cash. It is clear as mud what the penalty is for cancelling a reservation booked through DVC MS for someone booked on cash.

At this point we are less than 60 days, but more than 30 days out. The total cost for this person was just over $300 and I have gotten conflicting answers of what exactly will be the penalty for cancelling. The various reports are 1) a flat $200 at any point less than 60 days, 2) $250 penalty for 30-59 days ahead of sailing; at 29 days out it becomes 50% of cash price (which in this instance would be LESS than the supposed $250 penalty from 30-59 days!), and 3) a $250 penalty at any point less than 60 days out.

When I have an extended period of time that I can spend on the phone I will try to call and get a supervisor and definitive answer. In the meantime I thought I would try to find a DVC'er who has done this to learn what their experience was. Anyone??

My post was not clear, sorry. I HAVE called Member Services -- they gave me two of the conflicting answers! The other was given me by DCL as their understanding of the penalty (I called them because the first CM at MS told me to "check with the cruise line to be sure there aren't other penalties").

The second time I spoke with MS the CM was also very unsure, put me on hold a couple of times and clearly was not confident in his answer. By this time I could not spend any more time on the phone dealing with the question and it was nearly the end of their business day. The hours that they are open are very busy for me, and I expect it will likely be Thursday before I have a good chance of getting through.

Just trying to get some personal experiences which may point me in the direction of what will really happen if we drop one person from the reservation.
