I have this HUGE bruise on top of my right hand, it hurts like the devil and frankly I think I might have broken something in there. (Im a big chicken and dont want to go to the doc before our trip because I dont want to know if its broken. I dont want to wear a cast when we go to Hawaii :o )

Anyway, I have no idea how I got it!

I dont remember hitting it on anything.

Have you ever done that?

I used to be the queen of the D&S (drunk and stupid) bruises. But now that I'm older, wiser, and more sober, I have to admit, I still get them.

The ones that bug me are the ones that really hurt and I'm like, how could I not know how I got this?

exactly!!

and I was sober ;) ( I remember those other ones to but that was a long time ago!)

I guess maybe we just get banged around so much anymore it doenst phase us anymore? lol

All the time binny! I have a huge one on my knee right now (a really pretty green and purple color!), and I have no idea where I got it! My husband thrashes in his sleep, and he'll whack me with his arms and elbows sometimes (my mom thinks he's got "subconcious issues" with me and takes out his frustrations at night! ) and I've been bruised once in a while from some of those. I used to just ignore him--now I wake him up and noogie him in his side--then I feel better.

Binny - I've had those too....a simple bump you don't necessarily hurt from right away can cause a blood vessel to burst, thus the bruising. They can take a long time to heal. When it starts to yellow and green, it's healing.

I hope it goes away quickly :D

I get them all the time !!! It's fun to make up stories of how I got them though.. :teeth:

Unfortunately I get them quite frequently. I bruise easily and I swear I could get a bruise by brushing up against a feather  .

honestly, happens to me all the time, I bruise very easily, so quite a lot of the time I will have a bruise that I have no idea where I got from

My oldest daughter bruises very easily too. You should have seen her after karate practice.  I was such a mom until I watched a couple times.

I get them all the time too, when I don't know where they came from I usually blame them on my boyfriend ('Look what you did to me!' 'When?!' 'Oh don't act like you don't remember!') :teeth:
Unfortunately this week I have a huge lump and bruise on my leg the size of a softball, and I know where that one came from. I slipped and fell cleaning the bathtub. :(

After a surgery a few years ago I had a huge bruise. At my checkup the Dr. couldnt believe I was still bruised....he suggest placing a heating pad over the bruise to make it go away faster.

I too bruise very easily as does my daughter. We are always asking each other......."what in the world did you do"? We always say we'd think we would remember how/where they came from as big as they are! Just as these boards have "tag fairies" maybe there are "bruise devils" out there..........

Um, I am not sure if I want to admit this or not but I was shaving for the first time in quite a few weeks.....well OK.....maybe months and I was shocked and horrified at how many bruises I had on my legs that I had not noticed - oh and not due to the hair just due to not really paying any attention to my legs under so many layers of clothing in order to stay warm around here. :o

castlegazer!!!

LOL!! just Kidding!

I think we all get to that point sooner or later! :)

Add me to the list, I have a huge bruise on the upper outside of my thigh, and have absolutely no clue where it came from.

I thought it was just me! Always have lots of bruises, never remember from what...... although the current bruise in the palm of my hand I remember...... I stabbed the palm of my hand with a serrated knife over the weekend..... trying to scrape hot glue off a dinner plate after a craft project went bad! Gave myself a good "dope slap" for that one! Blood must have pooled up under the skin, cause the palm is turning purple..................P

There are certain medical conditions that could require a Doctor's attenttion if you notice that you are bruising more easily than usual.
A certain cell of your blood, known as a platelet, helps in the clotting of your blood. When the total number of these platelets are decreased for a number of different reasons, or the function of these are changed, bruising will occur.
A classic rash, known as petechia will also occur. This looks like fine red pin-point rash-usually on your extremities first.
If you are concerned, see your physician.

Gee, and I thought that only happened to me.:)
I'm ALWAYS getting bruises that I don't remember getting. I just
thought it was because of where I worked. Now I don't feel so klutsy! (just kidding):)
