Have you been to Goofy's Kitchen for DINNER?

How late does GK stay open? We are doing dinner res when the park closes at midnight and not sure of the hours at GK.

Ok, my fiance' and I went a couple weeks ago with my parents, and my dad's cousin's(in there late 60's) for my parent's 30th anniversary and to celebrate our engagement/ impending wedding and we had ONE character come to the table in almost 2 hours we were there. If you have no kids with your party they seem to just ignore you. I was really irritated by that. I spent the same amount as everyone else to get in there and have dinner I expected to get at least some time with all the characters. Even if it was just a picture. I will NEVER do that again. My parent's said the Minnie and friends breakfast at Plaza Inn was MUCH better for interaction. The food was kind of meh for a $35 buffet(then again, I'm used to Vegas where $35 gets you a HUGE variety of food and just as many desserts). Again, if you have no kids in your party don't expect much, if any, interaction from the characters. Our server was AMAZING though! She was very friendly and kept everyone's drinks filled even before they were empty. Sadly, I do not recall her name.

Looks like you are a WDW person. In terms you might understand-- the food is MUCH better than Chef Mickey's and I think better than 1900 Park Fare too. The character interaction is generally better than Chef Mickey's too and there are more characters. We saw 7 characters our last visit. Unlike Chef Mickeys, where you get the standard 5 characters, you never know who you are going to get at Goofy's Kitchen. To us, the characters seem to play with the kids more and spend more time with them than you see at WDW character meals. If you get a chance, I would highly recommend Minnie's Breakfast at the Plaza Inn. That is the best character meal we have ever been to. Both times we have been there, we saw a ton of characters and they spent a bunch of time playing with DD and the other kids.

We also had a less than stellar experience at GK - and we had 2 kids with us! Here is my review of GK:
Goofy's Kitchen: Overall I was disappointed and wish we would have done Ariel's Grotto instead. The food was mediocre at best and my daughters had a difficult time finding any food they would eat. Character interaction left a lot to be desired. We were there the first night of our trip and were really hoping for a good experience. Right after we sat down, Aladdin stopped to see us. He spent a lot of time interacting with the girls. After that we had no other characters visits us - even though they came close they did not stop at our table. I finally asked our waiter after we were done eating if any others were going to come visit. He went to speak with the manager and finally others came to see us: Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pluto and Mulan. We had the opportunity to see each of these many times during our visit in the parks so I don't think it added much to our trip. We had to wait an hour after we had finished our dinner to see all the characters. It definitely did not live up to our expectations of character dining. My other complaint is that we were celebrating our daughters' birthdays, told them when we checked in, told the hostess and told the waiter. Nothing special was done for the girls even though all around us others were getting special treatment/cupcakes.

Sorry to hear you only saw one character, I assume you said something to your waiter? What what type of response did you get? I agree with you, you spent the same $$ as everyone else, you should get to see the characters too.

We were at Goofy's on Wednesday, May 9th and there was a couple seated across from us. It was just the two of them, no kids. Every character that came by our table also stopped by their table. It was really sweet to see Belle and Aladdin interact with them since they are able to talk. Of course Minnie and Chip N Dale interacted with them too but in a non-verbal way.

With or without kids have never had that kind of experience. We always see 6-8 characters..what time did you go(should not matter). I did see one couple holding hands and snuggling and I saw they were bypassed alot since they presented a do not bother image. We interact alot with the characters as they move around, and do not compare the food to Vegas(this is not Vegas, like some people compare everything to WDW). At least you are close if you ever decide to give it another try.

For the dinner time (5-9pm) what is the better time to go with the best character interaction or is it pretty much the same the whole dinner?

I was planning to do GK our first night there, we would be checking into the hotel at 3:00 and then I am not sure about doing the park for a while and then going to GK (if we are able to tear ourselves from the park) or do
GK then go to the park so the kids can see some characters and get exited before going into the park (getting some of that out of their system!)
but then I don't want to be really full and walk around on a full stomach & they may be anxious to get into the park. I don't know what to do!!:confused3

What sounds better?

We did GK our first night and originally had not planned to go into the park. We ended up going to CA before and let the kids to the Redwood Creek stuff then after we went to the park to see the Fireworks. We also got in a few rides before the fireworks with almost no lines. This was a Sunday. We had or GK reservations at 6:30 and were there for about 2 hours - most of the time finished with our dinner waiting for characters to come see us.

I don't know if it matters where you are seated in GK to have a good experience, but we were seated near the entrance in a raised area that holds 5-6 tables. The Characters just didn't bother coming up there.

I was not comparing the buffet at GK to Las Vegas as I grew up there and don't think much of their buffets either. The food available looked of and was appropriate temperature, but lacked flavor and much I couldn't eat. I am not that picky. My girls had an even harder time finding foods they liked. My little one who loves peanut butter and jelly took one bite of the PB&J pizza and refused to eat any more of it. She said it was horrible and she eats PB&J sandwiches nearly every day for lunch.
