Have you been in November?

Good afternoon everyone,

I was thinking of heading to WDW with the family from November 14-20. We live in Toronto but drive to Buffalo to fly out as with five of us it saves us over a thousand dollars.

I am starting to question if we should just stick to September even though it is crazy hot because we have done it I feel I know what to expect.

I don't know how the family will like it if it is chilly and they have to wear hats and gloves that I have noticed in some Trip Reports. To save and save for this trip only to arrive at WDW and have it be chilly...not sure if that would be something that would work for us.

I appreciate any feedback/help you have for me.

Thanks so much.

We have been to Orlando area the past 5 Novembers, the week before the one you are discussing. In general, the weather is pleasant and warm and some nights a light jacket is needed in the evening. One year we were thankful to have our winter coats after the sun went down but that was the exception. Normally it's shorts or Capri's with t-shirts during the day.

Unless FL has a cold-snap that week in November you should be quite comfortable the week you are looking at.

We went last November 14-24 and this was our weather run-down:

Nov 14 - cool, high of about 20, cloudy with some sun in the afternoon - light jacket or sweater required mid-day
Nov 15 - sunny and warm, about 24-25 degrees - comfortable in shorts and a T
Nov 16 - hot, about 30 degrees - tanks and shorts
Nov 17 - hot and humid, thunderstorm in the afternoon and rained all night
Nov 18 - 9 degrees.... yes, I said 9 DEGREES! and raining - we wore hats, mitts, pants, winter coats... you name it :confused3
Nov 19 - about 15 degrees, but sunny
Nov 20 - 23 - ranged from 20-25 degrees, and sunny - got progressively warmer each day
Nov 24 - freakin hot... lol... it was about 35 degrees

The nights always got very cool - so we always had sweaters.

Needless to say... we are going in September this year. I don't want to pack for 4 seasons, and we had to this time. Part of leaving Canada to go to FL is hot weather. This didn't do it for me - I felt ripped off :snooty:

Definitely agree that warm weather should be part of the package when you head down to FL (as if we can control the weather...). We went down in Jan 2013 (yes, after the infamous ice storms) and there was one day where we were wearing our "plane clothing" (i.e. the stuff we wore from Toronto) because it was about 1 degree.

If you're worried about packing for all seasons I'd recommend looking out for sales at MEC, Eddie Bauer, Mountain Warehouse etc. You should be able to find some affordable light cold(er) weather gear that won't bog you down like Canada Goose (which personally I find overrated but my SO would disagree).

we have been in November in the past and have a trip planned for November 28th to December 5th this year, weather can be a mix but wanted to see the parks at xmas time again, plus check out the air fare sales going on with air Canada from Toronto or west jet in Hamilton we booked with west jet from Hamilton and got return trip for 340 a person with the exchange and all it was a great deal. We have always flown out of Buffalo before but this was a good price and Hamilton airport is 10 mins away for me , so excited to be flying from here

Okay so that is decent although something about having to wear winter coats at Disney just sounds wrong!

Thanks for your help.

Haha....I had to show my DH your break down, that is nuts. I guess with weather like that it also means having to carry all those outfits around with you. Hmmm...September is hot and stormy but I feel like I can handle that. Decisions decisions.

Thanks for your help.

Good for you for leaving after the Ice Storm, I would have gladly packed up and headed south after that storm. Did you have to wear your Canada Goose when you were there??

Thanks for your help.

That is why I thought I would love this time of year...even just to see the Osborne lights. I will check the airfare from there, with the exchange rate now it may be cheaper to fly from somewhere closer to home.

Thanks for your help.

apart from the one day it was near freezing I was wearing shorts and a polo shirt and was fine. SO and kids wore jeans and a t shirt and was ok as well.

weather wouldn't stop me from booking in the later part of the year , we have done January and March other times around the xmas holidays parks are really done up so if you haven't been at that time of year you should do it!

We have gone in November, late January/early February and April. November was our favorite of the those dates. Shorts and t-shirts in the days and only recall 1 evening where we wore hoodies.

I was wondering the same thing. We have gone in February, March, April, May and August. It has always been beautiful weather, although I have heard of cooler weather before or after our vacation periods. We are going November 10-17 for my birthday, and to see some of the Christmas decorations. We've never gone in the fall so I'm hoping it will be comfortable for capris/shorts and tshirts. I don't mind a sweatshirt in the evening but I hope we won't need more than that!

Thanks for this thread! We just booked a trip in November with free dining. I wanted to go in October like usual but the dates were so limited with free dining this year so we got stuck with November. I wasn't sure how the weather would compare with October. It looks like a pretty big difference!

We were there Nov 13-20 2012 and Dec 7-17 2013. The December trip was hotter than the Nov trip. For our Nov trip, we had to wear sweatshirts in the evening and it was chilly one night staying late at the park but the days were absolutely beautiful. Then in December, we were still in short sleeves at night, it was wonderful. My kids do not do well in hot weather so the fall works out great for us. I just booked Nov 15-25 today. There's no way to predict it, we'd be ok with it if it was a little on the cooler side than suffering through humidity. Actually my son was 8 on our first trip and he was complaining "why does it have to be so hot" I checked the temp and it was only 25.

Reading along. We booked nov 10-20 and have been wondering about the weather.

I'm from Victoria and we don't get snow like the rest of Canada, but we get the damp cold. I left Victoria (+4* and Rain) and flew to Calgary (-12* and sunny when I landed) and Victoria felt colder. We are going to WDW Nov 7-15, 2015. I hope it doesn't get over 25*. I can't stand the heat and my meds don't allow my body to sweat so I get over heated very easily.

Been there at the end of November many times. It's great because the crowds are small, the weather is still warm, and the Christmas decorations are up.

This past November (2014) was an anomaly. I went mid-November 2014 and there were a couple of days I wore my coat from home as it went down to 8 degrees. My parents stayed an extra week after I left and it was over 25-30 degrees every single day after I left. As long as you avoid the American Thanksgiving it's a good time to go.
