Mmause - Gosh, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. Ouch! So you've seen "my neck of the woods." Too bad is what because of road construction and not just a leisurely Sunday afternoon ride, but after all there is not much to see in Louisa. As I always say "Don't blink because you might miss it." Just to show how rural the county/town is. We just got a "2nd" stop light in town in the past 5 years. There are now 3 total and two of them are back to back - LOL! I'm sure we have a plenty out there that are in the same boat as me. Honestly, my home and my lifestyle does NOT match my location. I think I need to be transplanted to the 'burbs, but DH says it isn't happening. He's attached so to speak. Well, off to go run errands.

****Hugs***** to all of you!

Good Morning:sunny:
I just got back from my polling place. Can't wait to see what happens later this evening!! I'm sure my daughter wasn't the only Disneyphile to utter the following words while waiting in line for 30+minutes..."I wish they had a Fastpass for this!"
Leaving out Red strawberries, White chocolate truffles and Blueberry Pie for a Patriotic American Dessert Buffet:wave2:

Big room wave :wave2:

Where I live they have early voting available. It is a wonderful option for voters, but I know not all states offer it. Even with voting early DH and myself stood in line 35 minutes last Wednesday. I am so glad there is such a good turn out this year.

Mmause- - I am sorry to hear about you news regarding your knees. I have been looking into full knee replacement surgery myself. You may want to look into the new titanium replacements that they are now doing. The new joint metal is a lifetime replacement as opposed to the old one that has to be repeated every 15-20 years. Also, the new surgery is concered to be more minor with a smaller incision therefore it much less invasive. Which translate to a shorter hospital stay and no need to go to a rehab hospital. They are doing this in California. If you would like more information just pm me:D

Tammi - How exciting! You have been working very hard on this trip and now this will be icing on the cake. You are in my prayers that everything goes through.

Johnsonet - Really liked your Red, white and blue goodies for the lounge.

Debbie - How are your plans for Christmas going? I am sending pd and prayers that you DH will think you have a great idea.

REMEBER TO VOTE!

DD will be DUMBO...her absolute favorite!!! She requests the movie a thousand times a day and sleeps with the stuffed Dumbo she picked out at the GF gift shop last May!!! And, there's not too many things cuter than hearing a 2 yr. old sing all the words to "Baby Mine"

How cute!!!

We had a great trip! I'm still in love with the Poly. The atmosphere is so relaxed and transportation options great. I was suprised to see the oatmeal missing and I hadn't read about it here before I left. I think this trip finally converted DH. He LOVED the garden tour at Epcot and it really made it all click for him. Unfortunately I didn't send him on that til our last full day. Next time he'll be going on a tour early in the trip. DD(5) loved all the thrill rides. DD(21 months) was in many ways much easier at 11 1/2 months. She wanted to walk everywhere and did walk several miles each day. But even though she was more of a challenge for us she had enjoyed the trip more this time. She's still not talking much but had 2 new words on the trip. Moon-she's not used to being out in the dark at home. As soon as we got home Friday night she ran over to her books and showed me a picture of a moon-"maaaoon". And her other new word was "WOW". She LOVED the fountains at Epcot-especially at night. One of my friends suggested she's had that word tucked in her brain for a while but the fountains are the first thing that really wowed her.:teeth: DS(3) had a huge accomplishment at Disney-he had been having daytime accidents and insisting on a pull up for poops at home but he was clean dry all trip with no pulls! Isn't that worth the price of the trip!

I think I may have over planned the trip and next trip plan on fewer sit down meals. We were only at the lounge for 3 evenings and I think we would have prefered more evenings in the lounge supplemented with take out from Kona or Captain Jacks. The lounge was so much relaxing with the kids then rushing to a PS and if the kids got cranked/wild 1 of us could easily remove them.

I would skip 1900 Park Fare next trip. The food was fine but we found it loud and rushed with marginal service. Maybe I'm just miffed that the ice cream machine was broken. I would do CRT instead and then skip Storybook Breakfast rather than do both Cindy dinner/princess breakfast. I think we'll skip OHana next trip as well as the service wasn't as good this time, the kids didn't eat much and we left way over stuffed. We will be returning to Crystal Palace as once again as the character interaction, food and service were outstanding. We had one of the last dinner sittings and after the place had nearly emptied out we were able to get photos of the kids with all the characters together. We also liked Trails End at Ft. Wilderness-food was good and the quiet break from the parks was great. We also LOVED breakfast at Boma's. We liked AKL but I can't imagine not staying at the Poly while we have a stroller.

The highlight of the trip for me was one afternoon my DH & friend took DS & baby back to the room while DD & I toured the World Showcase. She enjoyed making her mask and I took lots of photos of her "around the world". It was nice to have the time for just the 2 of us. {So how can I convice DH that a trip with DD & I for a few days would make sense with the AP's?}

It was great to meet Donna in real life!

P & PD to all here in need. Gotta get caught up at work and need to go vote.

Been out of the loop for awhile, but I am glad to hear that everyone had a happy and safe Halloween.

minniesota I am up with the chickens as well...except my chickens come in the form of three little boys who think that if there is the tiniest 'smidge' of light outside, it is time to be up.

steveanddonna Welcome back. Glad to hear you had a great trip, better yet, glad to see you are headed back!!

tammi Best of luck getting your DD in to Orlando. I know it will work out. I have been watching your posts and know that you have been working your tail off to make this a spectacular vacation. Your family is lucky to have you.

Well, lizards, I need your help. We are going to take another trip to the world in May and I don't know where we should stay. (Dont you just love planning two trips at once) My husband is a Navy Pilot so we can get a great rate at SOG, but it is not my first choice. We will also have friends joining us this trip. DF's husband and wife and DF's DS1. Our DF will be returning from 6 month deployment in April, so this should be a special trip. My DF mentioned staying at SOG. aaarrggghhh.

Should I make ressies at SOG and another resort and hope for good AP rates in May? If so, which resorts? I would like to try AKL, but what are my chances of getting good code there? Can we get adjoining rooms at AKL or any other deluxe for that matter. I prefer CR and YC for room size (we are 2 adults and DSs 7,5,2) Oh, this is agony. Please give any advice you can.

Have a great day and get out there and VOTE!!!

A

I understand how you feel about SOG. My hubby is a Col. (O-6) in the AFR...I looked at the pics and the rooms look like every VOQ the AF has! In any case it wasn't that much cheaper, for us, since it's based on rank.

Beach Club is my personal favorite...so it's got my vote....if that matters. The AKL rooms might be too small for five of you.

Yahoo!

I've been in the early planning stages of the mom and son trip and mom and daughter trip (I wanted some alone time with each kiddo -hee,hee!) and have been discussing locations with DS. He HATES change so was only interested in staying at the GF or BC/YC - AKL felt like too much of a risk! LOL Anyway, I just called CRO and got an AP rate at GF - $259! After paying that non-discounted price for the 2-bedroom suite at GF last month, this seems like a steal!!! Crazy perspective. No CL this time but, hey, we'll be at the Grand! Going in February!

Goofysuse Thanks for the vote for BC. I am hoping for YC myself. :p How do I convice our DFs that YC is worth the extra money? SOG for O4-O6 is $104/night and YC for 5/8-5/14 is well into the $300's. Unless I get a great AP or mil. rate, the differnce will probably be $250/night. Believe me, this Disney "nut" has no problem forking over the cash. (This girl knows the value of a disney dollar ;) ) How do I get them to see what I see? Is it possible or am I forced to spend vacation in government produced "magic". Don't get me wrong, SOG is nice and clean and a great deal, but I don't get that "feeling" in my stomach.

SOG lovers, please don't flame me.

Anyway, I guess I should just pray for great AP rates or mil. rates for the YC. Come on baby.....

Mickey Fliers: I understand the position you are in with SOG. We stayed there in 2000. I liked it better than Dixie Landings (1998) ,but this year we are staying at AKL CL. My DH does not understand why I am spending all this money on a hotel room when we could get it cheeper! Well I am just waiting to see his reaction when we get there!
I am using the mil. rate for part of our trip, great discount. It is only good until the last part of Dec unless they have extended it again.
PD to all that are in need!

:Pinkbounc lovesdumbo Welcome Home! Your trip sounds terrific:teeth: And thank you for so many great tips::yes::

minniesota Congratulations on your great GF rate!! We always stay non-CL there and it is still very luxuriousprincess:

Mickey Fliers Good Luck on getting some great rates at the YC ;)

MMausse So sorry to hear about your knee problems. I hope your docs will get you "back on your feet" as safely and quickly as possible!

I'll be glued to MSNBC this evening:teeth: Putting out beer, wine and chips:crazy:

OH! And check out my new countdown clock:teeth:

Someone smack me now! I have been reading these posts and trying for the life of me to figure out what the MIL (mother in law) rate was! Call it a dumb moment, but I knew a few of you would smile so I decided to let out my "mistake". My DH is going to die when I tell him his military career (before me), just means mother in laws!

Sending PD for Mmause's knee! They need to make Mickey heating pads for you, too!

Waving to everyone... and off to hockey!
Debbie

Debbie - you're hilarious re. the MIL rates...:p

I just ordered this "healthy" back pack from LL Bean for my December trip - anyone have experience with these one-sling backpacks?? Do they stay in place? I really like the way it looks:cool:

Hello everyone! Wow, go away for a few days and there are so many new faces and lots of news to catch up on.
I had to get away by myself, really wanted to return to the BWI and be pampered, but settled for a secluded hotel on the cape. Have made the decision not to undergo my radiation treatments, but to go with the alternative suggested. It was a major decision, but I am glad it is over.

mmausse I am sorry to hear about your knee. I am sure the replacement will all work out fine. I may not be able to make the May meet now either so we should plan a trip together. My husband said he is done with Disney for a while. !!!!

lovesdumbo I am glad you had such a wonderful trip. I understand about your 21 month old and speaking. Madyson will be 2 on the 18th and does not talk! She loved Ariel though and will say a form of her name and will also say Luna!

BT cannot wait to see your new on line store.

Have a good night everyone.

#1 hockeymom - You are too funny!:p

johnsonet - Cute backpack! I'll be interested to know how it works out. I used one of those string type slouch sacks in October and really liked it, but yours looks comfy and more attractive! Have you stayed GV at GF? We have always had LV. Any recommendations for building requests or locations?

KerryCM - The cape trip sounds restorative - glad you are at peace with your decision. PD and P to you!

Since I've been up since 5 a.m., not sure if I can handle staying up for election results. Hope our country can handle whatever happens - and that we move forward with dignity and optimism. God bless America.

Just droppin by for a quick Hello to everyone. Bet you all had a busy day voting - heard on the radio there are big line-ups. I think it's good alot of people are voting. Hope all is well with everyone.

mmause - just wanted to mention that my Aunt is getting a knee replacement Dec 7th - if yours isn't til after that I can get some info for you on how she fairs.

Gotta go as DS is on my lap asking for pics of "Mickey's House" lol

Safe night everyone - talk to you when I actually have a few minutes.

mmause --Sorry to hear about your knee--hope everything works out...
KerryCM --I am glad you were able to make a decision-good luck and enjoy that time away

P&PD to all in need!!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I'm baaack. Well, we had a great 10 days in the world. My poor DS was sick though, almost the entire time. We were unable to fly home because he developed a bad ear infection and was not able to safely fly, so we had to rent a car and drive home-17hours-yuck. A minor inconvenience, we had his health in mind, so we made the best of it.
We had a wonderful 5 nights at the GF-Sugarloaf. Their pre-planning wasn't the best, but they made up for it like gangbusters. They were absolutely fabulous. We had a nice room overlooking the marina, We were happy with it. Mousekeeping was great also. They had nice offerrings in the lounge and were very accomodating with my DD's peanut allergy, which was great. I really don't have any negative things to say, which is wonderful.
After 5 nights, we moved over to the BC which is a very pretty resort and we loved the pool. We had to move from our original room, because the carpet was all wet and they wanted to put blowers in our room to dry the floor. When I explained that my son already had an upper respiratory infection, they switched our room. It did not have a day bed, they said there were no daybeds, just roll a way beds, which didn't fit in our room because we had a full balcony. This was a bit of a pain, because my son was sick-we survived though. The offerrings were very nice and mousekeeping was great. There were a few things here that we had some problems with, but I don't want to get anyone down on this resort, because I feel everyone should form their own opinion.
We had a great time at the MNSSHP. Not too crowded. My DS and I left after 2 hours, because he was really sick this night, so my DD and DH stayed until around 11pm and he had to drag her out of there, she was having so much fun.
The lines at MK and the other parks were much longer than this time last year, but were managable with FP, and I am sure they were nothing like Easter or the summer.
I will report more later-still exhausted and have piles of laundry.I haven't been able to catch up on this thread.
Great news with my dear friend. She is now able to breathe on her own and is progressing much better. I called everyday from Disney and her DH kept me updated. She was on the ventilator for over 2 weeks. I finally talked to her tonight and you can't imagine the joy I felt just hearing her voice-even though its very sad for her to learn what she's lost. We are all going to try and keep her spirits going.
Prayers and PD for all who need it.

Welcome back, samnbilly! I'm sorry to hear your DS was sick on your trip--poor guy! I would love to hear more about Sugarloaf concierge--do you remember the food offerings at all? We also had some kinks in a stay at the Beach Club (not concierge though), but we still think it's a nice resort too.

I am so excited about our upcoming anniversary trip with my hubby, brother, and sis-in-law.

What makes me most excited is that I was able to book Victoria & Alberts as well as an Illuminations cruise for Dec 6. Yeah!

Good morning everyone.

lovesdumbo - Welcome back. Glad you had a great time, and that the Poly still holds the magic for you and your family.

samnbilly - Glad to have you back. Sorry the BC did not live up to its reputation, but the GF sounds really nice. Can't wait to try it.

KerryCM - That break at the Cape sounds really relaxing. Prayers and PD for continuing progress with your treatments.

mmause - So sorry to hear about your knee. Prayers and PD to you for your road ahead. I do know several people who have had total knee replacement, and say it was the best thing they ever did. So here's hoping it will be the same for you.

#1hockymom - You are just too funny sometimes. I love it!

Well I hope everyone has a great day.

samnbilly... I was sick when we left the BC CL and went to the Dolphin Suite. Think I ate something "tainted" on e-night! :( Two whole days I laid in bed! Good thing I had my "mommy" to take care of me! ;)

Looks like we all need a HUGE :grouphug: !!!!!

And, some of you Lizards will be getting a call from BT today!:wave2:
