Hey I have been to some Mobile stations that have great caps and the best hot chocolate I have ever had, tasted like it had milk in it.

Angel,Welcome back! It sounds like your trip was truly fantastic, and I can't wait to hear about all the details! We are so excited to be trying AKL CL for the first time. I just adore the AKL, but I've never stayed CL there before.

sfbank, I'm so glad to hear your eeg was normal. for continued seizure-free days.

OK, I think I had a very long day... your "Uncle Ankole" cracked me up, Debbie! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

...and thanks for the Hungarian Poppy Seed roll, GoofySuse. It's been way too many years since I've had Grandma's homemade, but the virtual slice will go nicely with that one last 'cap' before bedtime... ;)

ACK! I must be too tired *took a nap after dinner, too!* He'd be a big brother, not an uncle! :hyper: Where is my brain!? I think his aunts and uncles must be over on the Arusha Savannah! I did have a great dream... DS was pin trading with Don and Tanya in the AKL lounge. We just started pin trading/collecting as of our trip a few weeks ago, so this must be something to come in the future!

Good night LL's! SUITE dreams!
Debbie

Muse...you're welcome! Are you of Hungarian descent? I'm first generation on father's side and second on mother's...I was raised to beleive that if it didn't come with sour cream it wasn't worth eating!! I still believe that, actually...*lol*...I only make the poppy seed, walnut and prune rolls/logs in the winter....so it's time to bring them on!!!

sf...so glad to hear that your eeg is not abnormal....that's great news!

Congratulations, best wishes and prayers to all concerned.

Have a wonderful night everyone.....sleep tight with pleasant dreams of the most magical place on earth!:sunny:

OK, the BIG question! Did it look like THIS ONE?

Sorry Tess, Goofy's Muse and BT, it's not nearly as big as that and of a very simple design. I think Tess and Cris have it nailed. But I loved it!:sunny:

Happy day everyone!

Too funny, GoofySuse! Yes, 100% Hungarian (my father was born there, my mother also second generation). Wish I'd absorbed more of the cooking/baking secrets when I'd had the opportunity but as a kid I just took it all for granted. Ummm... and WALNUT roll was my absolute fav!::yes:: ::yes::

...and no apologies needed on my account, BCV23! Methinks I could be very happy with even the simple 'cap' machine. In fact I wish I were there (insert your favorite lounge) right now, enjoying my 'cap' with a slice of GoofySuse's yummy walnut roll! :teeth:

John's Mom - First, Welcome to the lounge! :wave2: You do not dine in a private room at Jiko's after sunset safari. I believe staff doing something for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. are hit and miss at all the resorts. It's not guaranteed that they will do something special. I believe AKL will try their best, but you have to make them aware that it is your anniversary (especially for a milestone such as the 25th - CONGRATS!). The something special may be a good room location, card, etc. Note it on your reservation and see what happens. :teeth: Have a wonderful time on your safari!

Big Wave to everyone!

Sfbank - Glad to hear about the good test results! They'll get to the bottom of it. When they found out what caused it and it's not a threat you can probably make a case to get your license back earlier than 6 months. Just depends on what caused the seizure in the first place. We're hanging in there with you!

We're back...
...and it looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do. It was another wonderful trip, but details will have to come later so I can get back in the swing of real life.

BT Rich M. stays in place as Poly CL mgr, but Claudia has left. The new mgr. Heather starts next week. Had a nice chat with Rich - will pm you with more details.

It was so nice meeting Barb (BCV23) and lovesdumbo Missed KerryCM by moments - she had left MK just before I called her. Do we have the nicest people on this thread or what? lovesdumbo brought me a pot of gold for my birthday (which I am celebrating in WDW every year from now on!) What a sweetie! And her children were absolutely adorable too.

Hope to come back this PM and catch up, 'cuz it looks like there's been a lot of action here as well.

Big room wave to all, including all the new lizards!

What the heck, at least there is one now! Besides, I can always get my fresh, strong espresso and mix some of the "convenience store/gas station" cap with it to make it more like a coffeehouse brew! :) My daughter, on the other hand, will be thrilled--it's all about the creamy sweet for her--coffee is secondary! I just can't imagine the conc lounges serving "Nescafe" anything though! :earseek:

Just wanted to say Good Morning to everyone! We have been quite busy with the new little one. She's now over 7 pounds and still eating like a champ! :)

We are all looking forward to our return to Wilderness Lodge in January.

Have a great day!

Fred

Good morning, loungers!

My trip planning is in its final phases - now all's that's left is the wait! The weather is getting cooler here and we are dreaming of Florida warmth.

A couple of questions on concierge level tipping, as its our first time staying concierge at WDW. I'm pretty clear that the concierge CMs cannot accept personal tips, but rather something that could be shared by the staff. Is that correct? and do you have any good ideas for something that would be appreciated?

I have printed the cute Mousekeeping envelopes for our daily tip. What about the turn-down service? They are different CMs who should be tipped separately, right? Should I leave envelopes at different times of the day? Or when we leave in the morning, could I leave both envelopes, one marked Mousekeeping and one marked Turn Down service? While I suspect we would be back to our room after housekeeping has been there and before turn down, I wouldn't want to slight the turn down staff if we don't make it back.

Many thanks,
Susan

So Rich gets to stay? Interesting. . .why does "Heather" sound like a familiar name in connection with Polynesian? Did she work there previously? Just curious. . .

BTW, check out the cappuccino machine updates. Can you shed more light on the java maker? :)

Hey Lounge Lizards,

Does anyone have the e-mail for guest services? I called this morning to book a suite at WL for next May. I was told that they haven't been release yet????? I've never had a problem booking early.

I thought I might ask guest services what is going on.

Thanks. :D

Well, I answered my own question.:D

I callled over to WL Concierge. I thought maybe they would know something about why the rooms weren't released (construction or something.)

Mark said that it's only because they haven't set the rates yet so I am going to keep on trying.

They also mentioned that they are gettting a lounge!!::yes:: I can't wait to see the finished product.

Oh, good. So WL is on its way!!!!!! That's weird that they say they don't have rates but they are listed on the WDW website for 2005? What are they up to? I wish they'd give us some juicy details. I wonder if BT will squeak, bribe and sweet talk it out of them while on her Dec trip - LOL!?

I had to ask where the lounge was going to be located.

The CM said that it will extend out from the wall that you first face when you get off the main elevators. It will go over the empty space that sits behind where the food tables sit now. Does that make sense?

She first stated that construction was to begin in January and finish by Easter but then she said that it had been pushed back a little and will not finish until mid May. She also said that one of the Honeymoon suites will be closed then due to construction noise.

I also saw the 2005 rates posted. I still don't know why I can't book the suite but I'm going to keep checking. We just need a lot of space. It will be our first trip as a family of 5!! :D

I'm glad the WL is getting a lounge. I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Moi? I have NO idea what you're talking about!;) :p

hehehe! Vagal knows how I am!
Yup! I'll get to meet the WL gang and get the scoops for the LL information "bulletin board".

Chris and John's Mom...WELCOME to the LIZARD LOUNGE!

Well, some type of cap machine is better than none.

So, the AKL machine still ROCKS!!!!!::yes::

floridafam...no addy, but GoofySuse has it, I think!

yup! Heather is the new CL mgr at the Poly.
She was a former CM and now she has returned to put the Poly back on the "top of the list"!;)

Angel,

My DH and I will be checking into the AKL CL on Nov. 1. We will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Did the staff do anything special for your anniversary?

After the Sunset Safari, did you eat in a private room at Jiko?

Thanks,
Kathy

Kathy, Make sure to let the staff of concierge know you are celebrating your 25th anniversary. From what I have read on the boards they do different things at different times.

As for us, they left a heat shaped, handmade paper box with two bottles of perfume/aftersave in it. The bottles were shaped like elephants. One was white, one black. One was a female frangrance, the other an aftershave. They had a note on it that wished us a happy anniversary. It was very lovely. We found this in our room on our second or third day. On the actual day of our anniversary while in lounge Juanita brought over another package with another heart shaped box filled with Lion bottles of perfume/aftershave.

I have read on the boards of people receiving a cake in their room. Or a fresh flower arrangement, chocolate dipped stawberries and such.

I agree with everything that VAGAL said in an previous post. It can be hit and miss. However, I do know that ALK will do everything they can to make your visit special. Give Don at AKL a call and make sure your anniversary is noted on your reservation.

The dinner at Jiko is in the main dinning room. I also thought it would be in a private room. It appears they have 2 or 3 private dinning rooms. The main dinning room was very nice and it was quite and relaxed.

Happy 25th Anniversary  Congratulations! And welcome to the lounge. Hope you have a wonderful trip, tell us all about it when you get back.

Angel

Angel....WELCOME BACK!!!!:wave2:
Yup! There are a couple of private rooms at Jiko's.
Annette Grecchi has private parties in there for wine pairings!

In fact, that's going to be on our "LL to-do-list" for the AKL meet!:hyper:

floridafam...I just noticed that ya'll will be there in May during the LL meet! You just gotta join us! Even just for a couple of hours at the Steeplechase "party".
