Love all your festive plans, Tammi! I'm going to go for the Christmas tree as well. I think it will add a lot to our stay.Can you share how you have gone about ordering it and how the extras work (hat, pins, etc.)? I guess I should just email AKL CL. I was thinking I'd wait until November but WHY WAIT.:crazy:!

Big room wave all!!!

We're back from a wonderful stay at CR 12th Floor (MK VIEW!!!). The staff was very attentive and the room was great! The breakfast goodies were delicious! The afternoon snacks were nice too, especially when the CM's had a plate waiting for us in our room!

All in all, we had a magical vacation. The only problems were that the weather was hotter than we liked and the parks were more crowded than last year. The CM's said it was due to the hurricanes, lots of people missed out on vacations and were catching up now!

Anyway, thanks to all of you for helping out this new "lounge lizard"! DH is spoiled now... he said he would not do anything but concierge now! I guess I'm lucky! ;)

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time despite the crowds. DH has been converted as well - LOL! It doesn't take much, does it? ;) :teeth:

Liz, I've been dealing with Jennifer in the Disney florist department. She's been terrific. As for the surprise gift, you know it's a pin and one is already included in the price of the tree. If you want to purchase additional pins, they are $6.50 each. The Mickey embroidered ears topper is extra and they'll put your families last name on it. You can also order more and they will clip them onto the tree like ornaments. The prices that Jennifer gave me for the ears was 1 for $20, 2 for $35, 3 for $40. Her number is 407-827-3505.

Could you tell me about the breakfast items on the 12th floor? Pm if you want...I have a picky eater, and need to know things like types of muffins and do they have donuts, etc... Did you check in on the 12th floor? Did you have to request the plate of afternoon snacks be left in your room? Did they leave sodas/water in the room for you? Was there a refrigerator in the room yet?

I don't know where to begin so perhaps just a brief synopsis.

We have always stayed at the Beach or Yacht Club and have never had a problem with the concierge staff, quite the contrary, they are wonderful. On this trip we decided to try the Wilderness Lodge, since we will have our grandchildren with and it's closer to MK. Evidently someone, in their infinite wisdom, combined the concierge staff with that of the Polynesian to create a multi-resort Itinerary Planning department. In my opinion this has taken much of the lustre off of the concierge staff.

I have tried, on several occassions, to speak directly with the concierge regarding issues that I don't feel are relevant to an itinerary planner only to be told that I am not permitted to speak with that department! There is NO personal interaction with concierge and in order to contact the itinerary planning department one must either send an e-mail or leave a phone message...as they are always "too busy" to answer the phone. I hate this system. It often takes four or five days to get a response to an email and phone calls are never returned.


In their attempt to save a few dollars Disney has taken the lustre away from a, previously, wonderful option.

I have written to Al Weiss only to be told that "my concerns have been heard". Glorioski! We are spending $10,000.00 for a week at WDW and my concerns have been heard?

I am seriously considering moving to Universal Studios Portofino Bay. I am so disappointed with the lack of concern and the lack of service I can't tell you.

Has anyone else experience this frustration with the WL?
 
We had a great stay at WL concierge and it was a free upgrade back in 2001.

Is 12th floor tower club at CR worth it? I couldn't get 14th floor (I'm going to keep trying) but 12th floor is available.

We have stayed at WL Concierge several times and have never been impressed with their IPO staff.

It really took any desire to ever stay there again away from me.

Their IPO staff is slow at returning calls, not very helpful withh special requests and many e-mails I received didn't answer my questions or just didn't make sense.

Everything seemed like a burden to them. They told me to call the Disney Florist on my own, that they couldn't have certain things waiting in the room, etc. They never made anything happen.

I secured the Grand One Yacht on my own and would have missed out on the reservation if I had waited for the IPO staff to do it.

The IPO staff at the Yacht Club, Boardwalk and AKL have been been wonderful.

Sorry to say, but I don't think you will see any improvement.

The IPO staff even asked who my children's favoriite characters were and they simply left 2 cards out in the hallway near our door in the middle of our trip.

It's going to take a lot for me to stay there again.

Hello LL-Haven't posted much lately. My DD has the "crud" I also spent the weekend with a big fat toothache. Yuck.
This lounge sure is quiet lately. Bambi and Hockeymom have been away. Can't wait to hear about #1hockeymom's vacation.
Having a few problems with my ressie. Called yesterday to verify everything and they changed my room without my authorization to main bldg. concierge from lagoon view. I have been trying to change this first night to SugarLoaf for at least 2 mos. Now, I apparently owe a few more hundred dollars and I didn't even want this. Now, there are no more lagoon view rooms available. I'm waiting on Guest Services to call me back. I have had a frustrating couple of days. Hope everyone is well. Leaving out some pita chips with hummus and assorted veggies with dip. Better leave out some cordials also. I think I'm going to need one:mad:
 
Floridafam...thank you so much for your input! I somehow feel validated! I have established communication with Valerie, the Director of Operations for all of Guest Services of the WL, who seems to be the only one who is interested in accomodating her guests. In my opinion one should not have to resort to such desperate measures to get something done, however. Does that make sense? I somehow sense that no one ever complains however. Oh well...guess it's back to the Beach and Yacht Club or perhaps the AKL for this lounge lizard!!!
 
GoofySuse - I experienced the same disappointment this past June with WL. I may return one day, but will be skirting around it for now. I wouldn't pay the $$ to stay concierge at this resort right now. I would consider non-concierge. I liked the lodge itself, the restaurants and proximity to MK, but concierge service is lacking. I believe it's been posted that WL has a new CL manager. Hopefully, that's a sign that things will be changing for the better. IPO was slower, but what was a bigger let down was that we didn't get to experience the offerings. There were several times we went out into the lounge to find empties. It appeared the staff really didn't check or replenish them. It was quite a let down after tasting just one of those sugar cookies and going back for another and not a one out! :earseek: In their defense, I didn't formally complain to management while I was there. I would suggest they move their "desk" closer to the seating area. IMO, the CMs would feel more approachable and they would be able to attend to the offerings a little better if they did relocate it. Maybe, I should send them an e-mail with my little suggestion.... :idea: Oh, oh! You MUST try AKL at least once. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! We are going back next summer!

D&R Love Disney - I hear 12th floor is very nice. I haven't heard any complaints. It's similar type set up as GF SL - limited concierge.

In fact, Annamonte just recently returned with this to say about 12th floor concierge:

Samnbilly - I'm so sorry to hear that CRO is messed up your ressie and that your DD is sick! Hopefully, CRO will straighten this out for you on the double and your DD will recover quickly. Sprinkling a dump truck load of PD for you!
 
Is the Poly/Wilderness IPO the same for the Grand Floridian? I actually think I've been talking to a concierge staff member from the Grand Floridian, but maybe he is from the IPO.
 
no GF/Contemporary share the same office Poly/WL share an office. Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk share an office. And Animal Kingdom still has an office all by itself.
 
VAGal...I would send an e-mail. The Director of Operations for all of Guest Services @ The Wilderness Lodge is a young woman named Valerie Charron. Her e-mail is Valerie.A.Charron@disney.com. She is the only one who actually seems to care about what happens in her resort...and I include the GM Brian Britton in the category of one who does not really give a fig! I have NEVER heard a word from Mr. Britton....

My question would be how did you actually get a "person"? *shaking my head*...they seem to be few and far between....Perhaps GF concierge guests are given priority treatment...

Sorry just not a happy camper these days....
 
So, the people I'm communicating with now will not be the ones we see at the RPC during our stay? Is the office for GF/CR IPO in the Grand Floridian, Contemporary or another building?
