So, the people I'm communicating with now will not be the ones we see at the RPC during our stay? Is the office for GF/CR IPO in the Grand Floridian, Contemporary or another building?

That is correct. I think it makes concierge much less personal, which to me in any case, is one of the nicer things that concierge has had to offer. To be able to walk up to a CM and say..."Thank you for all of your help." was always something I enjoyed. I'm not sure where the office for Cont/GF is...the WL/Poly is in the Polynesian, in an inaccessible area from what I am told.

VaGal-your dump truck load of PD:rotfl: :rotfl: seems to have worked. Guest services called me before to say that she got me an AP rate at the SugarLoaf for my first night. WooHOO. This is so wonderful. Now, I'll only switch rooms once and that's just to move to the BC! I was so stressed over that when she told me that no other rooms were available.
My DD still has that terrible cough so no gymnastics today. I can't imagine 2 hours of gymnastics would be any good for her! Hope everyone else is well

The Grand Floridian IPO office is located on the same floor at the Concierge Desk. If you wanted to thank someone I bet they would come out and meet you.

I also have to agree about WL/CL. We stayed there last May. We were booked for 4 nights. After the first night, we called CRO first thing the next morning and swithched to GF/Sugarloaf with an AP rate! We were very unimpressed with the staff, the food offerings, etc. at WL. Hopefully things will get better there, but like FLORIDAFAM, it will take alot for us to stay there again as well. BTW, we LOVE GF and CR....have yet to try POLY.

SAMNBILLY....Soooooo glad that things worked out for you at the GF. Congratulations!!!!!!!! And, sorry to hear about your DD. I hope she's feeling better soon. DH and I are just coming down with it now. I feel YUCKY!!! (toddler talk ;) )
After DS had the stomach yuck on Thursday, he came down with this miserable cough now. It is the worst cough I've ever heard from him. Did you take DD to the doctor? He hasn't had a fever since Fri. but the cough is disturbing!

Leaving out some chicken soup for all those who need it!

I can't get over the fact that three people, today alone, have had similar experiences. What's up with that? I have written to Valerie, the Director of Operations for Gurest Services @ The Wilderness Lodge suggesting that she read your posts (since she is the only one of the WL management staff who seems to care)!

When I mentioned that I had never heard from Brian Britton, who I first wrote to in August, she offered to have him call. In my opinion it should have been Mr. Britton who initiated the call, after my first complaint, even if to tell me that he was referring me to Valerie. Am I wrong in this?

I want, so much, for this vacation to be perfect. One of our daughters is going through a very nasty divorce and she and our three grandchildren will be along (as well as our two sons) so it needs to be a special time. The boys (both college juniors) are familiar with the Beach Club concierge so I'm sure they'll see the difference (although we were prepared for less of a lounge we were not prepared for less then wonderful service...which is what seems to be the norm after reading your posts) but Jess has never experienced it. I am more than slightly worried!

Perhaps if I flood them with these posts they might get the message! Nah....*L*

GoofySuse-So sorry you're having a tough time with the WL IPO. I have to say GF has been okay-nothing fabulous. The IPO at the BC is FABULOUS-so helpful, offerring suggestions, etc. I guess it depends on the IPO. Maybe you could split your stay. I've never done this before, but I wanted to try something new. I haven't been to WL, so sorry I can't be of help. Let us know how you make out with your e-mails.
Woody-Just back from 2nd Dr. visit in two days. My DD has a sinus infection and her asthma is BAD, BAD,BAD. She's on antibiotics, the nebulizer, steroids, and a nice new nighttime cough medicine. I'm her own personal home care nurse!Hope you're feeling better soon.
I am SO excited that I got my first night at SugarLoaf. I really didn't want to stay in the main bldg. this time. I hope I don't regret it. I didn't feel like spending all that extra money. Its not that I don't have it, I just don't feel like spending a couple extra hundred dollars per night. I'm getting a little Disney thrifty these days!
Hope everyone else is well and planning is going okay. I have to start packing.

BIG ROOM WAVE! We're back!

We had a wonderful, albeit short trip! It wasn't concierge, it wasn't deluxe, but we were so jam packed with things to do we never really noticed. I would say that POP isn't for a large family. Actually, over two, and I would go elsewhere. The rooms were VERY small but fit our purposes just fine!

I didn't go to AKL. I was afraid to! I knew I'd end up booking, whatever the cost! It felt good getting in the towncar on the ride back knowing that our entire vacation was half the cost of one day at club level! To compensate, I have to say we ate pretty well! :) The Halloween party was fantastic! We both had a blast and I do want to do it again next year if it can be worked out with our schedules!

Chicken soup for those that need it. To woody, the cough with this cold DOES sound horrible, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. Of course, I haven't gotten rid of it, either. Maybe if I slow down it will leave!

I am so far behind! I did peek at Goofyfamilypictures! You guys look great... and so happy! I love the army man pictures! My son was forced to salute for a LONG time yesterday, then ended up saying Please sir Please sign my book before they'd sign it! It was hysterical! Your pictures brought back memories of our pictureless vacation!

I hope everyone fared well while we were gone. Mickey says hello to the lounge, and Minnie made some cookies for us! I set them out on the sideboard!

Debbie

samnbilly...Thank you so much for your concern. I don't think there's anything available, at this time, at the other resorts...we're going during Thanksgiving week...other than the GF which would be more than $1,200.00 more...and at this point I don't want to give Disney another dime!

I'm sorry to hear that your wee one is not well. Has she seen the "princess" site at Disney.com? There are a lot of activities that should keep her occupied.

Take care...

Susan

Welcome home Debbie!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
I can't believe you are home already!!:earseek:
Sounds like you had a lot of fun::yes:: You were very missed around hereprincess:
Setting out warm lavender compresses for all:crazy:

Welcome back #1hockeymom (Debbie)--glad you had a good trip.

For all of you suffering with the early fall crud, please cover your mouths when sneezing and coughing--I don't want that nasty bug over my way! :p ;) Really though--you have my heartfelt wish that you all are better soon. My husband and I have passed a sore throat back and forth for the past month. Our son's allergies are so nasty right now--poor kid can't breath. Our daughter informs me that her throat is now feeling sore too--on 2nd thought. . .pass that chicken soup--I think we need it our way and we'll be sure to cover our mouths when we sneeze and/or cough!

Thought I'd pass on to anyone who is interested (and I posted this on transportation too) from the DTW market area, Spirit has flights for June and July (not sure about other months) that are anywhere from $59 to $79 one way--we booked our June trip (and I said we'd never fly Spirit again :( ) for $151.70 per ticket or $606.80 for all 4! I have NEVER gotten that good a deal out of metro or anywhere else around here for that time of year. Maybe I shouldn't mention that in front of Debbie, she might be flying off again! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

  :love1: :love1: to those in need!

LOL Good thing I don't like Metro or City airport! :) I love having our mini airport within a half hour drive, and seeing the economy lot from the terminal! It really beats fighting the traffic at Metro, after the 1.5 hour drive on a good day! That is a fantastic deal, though...... hmmmmm

We did talk about the fact we could take a longer trip in the summer if we were willing to split with a value. DH would rather spend his vacation time up north, but there is no reason I couldn't lengthen some of our stays with the kids and have him fly back half-way through. Our longest Disney stay has only been 9 days with 6 about the average. Four was too short, but the only way I could do such a trip and not have a guest teacher in my room or have my son miss too many days of school.

samnbilly-Congrats on the room!

Debbie-glad to hear you had a good trip

Kerry CM-Have a great time!:sunny:

Debbie - So glad you're back and that you had a blast! You made me laugh with your story on your DS and the army men. That is just too cute and funny! Thanks for bringing in the cookies tonight. You're always a gracious hostess. To celebrate your homecoming, I brought some Amaruhla (did I spell that right?) since I know it's your favorite and it will compliment those cookies you brought back with you.

Samnbilly - What wonderful news that the dump truck load of PD helped you out....although, I'm not exactly sure if it was my dump truck load as it seems it had worked itself out before I dumped it on you.... Anyway, it looks like some others could use a little. Do you mind sharing? I'm sure you don't. Thanks for spreading it around! :teeth:

GoofySuse - I'll be sure to send an e-mail to Valerie. I hope it helps. Although, it's not a good sign when the GM doesn't show interest in our concerns/complaints. That gives me the feeling that he doesn't support his staff either. Plus, his poor attitude towards service will just filter down the chain. Hhhmmmm, who is above him? Maybe that's where we should start instead.

johnsonet - I think you must be psychic....I needed those warm lavender compresses so I can get some shut eye tonight.

I put the deposit down on our July trip. :cool1: I'm going to see if I can find out which suite they put me down for at GF. I only did the 1 bdrm suites for now. Can anyone tell me the comfort level of those queen sleeper sofas at AKL & GF? I hope I haven't made a boo-boo by doing the 1 bdrm, but it looks like we're going the thrifty but nifty route ourselves. DH still didn't want to do GF SL since he wanted to have the evening offerings which made me giggle. I believe I've created a lounge lizard monster. :earboy2:

Well, good night to all! Wishing you all peaceful rest and pleasant dreams. :wave2:

Ya'll been busy, busy here in the lounge!:hyper:

Debbie.....WELCOME back home to the LIZARD LOUNGE!!!!
You MADE it, girlfriend! So proud of you!:teeth:
Now you'll have extra $$$$ for next's year's AKL Meet!!!

GoofyJoofy & GoofyMuse...What GREAT family PICTURES!!!!!::yes:: :teeth: :sunny: :thewave:
Ya'll are such a good-looking group!
And all those SMILES!!!!:cloud9:
Looking forward to meeting ya'll in December!

annamonte.....WELCOME back home to the LIZARD LOUNGE, too!!!! looking forward to a 12th floor CR update!:wave2:

Here's extra BT PD~*~*~*~ for getting packed and ready to go in 2 DAYS!!!! YEAH!!!!

samnbilly....YIPPEEEE! You got that all your last minute things settled and I'm so happy for you!!!!! :teeth: Get packing too!:sunny:

Tess.....HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!:cheer2: :cake: :flower3:

minniesota...how's your planning coming along with the BWI garden suite?

Goofy Suse...from what I understand, the WL CL has a new concierge manager, Brian.
Now, is this Brian Britton the same person?:confused3

Customer service is VITAL to any business, organization!
Attitude "makes or BREAKS" a company!

I am going to stay at the WL CL in two months and I will go there with an open mind. But, I'm with WoodyRU, VAgal and floridafam on this one.
If it isn't up to par, we're outta there!:earseek:

And I'm looking forward to reading your feedback on the WL CL also. Negative or positive, this is why this lounge was created.
To share all our information and experiences about the CLs of WDW.::yes::

I will say this.....once you've stayed at the AKL/BWI/BC/YC/CR's CLs....it's hard to be satified with inferior CL service !

Now....I'm just going to get one of those fabulous lavender compresses that johnsonet so graciously left out, ;)
and I'm off to bed!:faint:

GoofySuse,

I would consider giving up WL CL, especially if you are on the Gold Plan. We have given them many chances to improve and they haven't. I am speaking of the IPO staff. The CL staff at the Lodge does put in a little more effort.

Our last stay was in May. I was told by one IPO staff member that I could not have our fridge stocked with beverages. We were arriving late and this was something I really desired. I know that this usually isn't a problem at any other club level.

I would e-mail with a specific question to this certain IPO CM and she would e-mail back and go on and on without even answering my question. I constantly had to ask the same question 3 or 4 times.

They alsmost missed out on reserving the Grand One for a cruise. I called and made the reservation and gave them the number. They didn't even know the correct time to call.

I asked if they could suggest some sort of congratulatory gift I could have in the room for my DH (he did a triathlon at Ft. Wilderness during our stay.) The only response was "call the Disney Florist." They couldn't even suggest anything special that would come from within the Lodge itself.

The IPO staff is the exact opposite of the IPO staff for the Yacht Club resorts. Amy could almost read my mind when we were planning our trip to YC CL. She made several suggestions, booked several special things and was always gracious.

I asked about ordering some tuxedo strawberries for the evening we checked out. I was told to call in-dining. Not a big deal, the IPO staff always arranged things like this for us at other resorts.

We stayed in the Yosemite Suite during most of our trip and it was very nice but starting to get old and we also experienced an ant problem.

The rooms on CL are the same size as most of the other rooms. If I were on any type of plan, I would consider doinn without concierge at WL and all of the frustration it brings or move to another resort.

Okay, thanks for letting me vent.

Welcome home, Debbie, good to see you back!

Sorry to hear about all the crud going around, plenty of ecchinacea and eucalyptus oil coming from our house to yours. We 're healthy here, and hope we can keep saying that for a while yet.

I'm EXHAUSTED, and off to bed after a busy, busy day getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner with a family of good friends over tonight. (after working till 3 a.m. this morning, too....yawn!!) We ate lots of yummy food prepared conscientiously with Weight Watchers in mind, and skipped dessert. My Chinese salad got rave reviews, and everyone looked happily but virtuously stuffed. For those of you who have another month and a half to go before Thanksgiving, enjoy it when you get there...to my fellow Canadians, hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

G'night....zzzzzzzzzzzz

Kris:cloud9:

P.S. I hate hearing these unpleasant tales about WL concierge...it's really the resort we'd like to try next trip....

congratulations on getting the room you wanted, samnbilly - and w/AP rate, too!

WELCOME BACK!!! BT and #1HM Glad you had a great trip, Debbie. Hope your show and trip went well, BT.

It's so disheartening to hear about these less-than-magical experiences. We've had a few ourselves, and I can only hope that whatever management issues some of the deluxe properties seem to be having will be noted and resolved.

Our anniversary Sunday reminded me of how great WDW can be, even on a bad day, though. Our day here in Chicago was definitely less than magical, beginning with being trapped literally for hours by the Chicago Marathon. They had made a last minute change to the race route, so traffic was an incredible mess. We were almost an hour late for an appointment in spite of planning out a route that should have skirted the race that AM. Seemed like everyone we ran into was cranky and rude and snotty. We decided to skip dinner downtown and head back to the 'burbs, where the day didn't really improve all that much. Sometimes a bad start just sets the tone for the whole day, so we're going to pretend that next Sunday is our anniversary and try again!

Sage tea and extra-soft tissues and plenty of  for everyone who needs them. I need to stay healthy - I'm going to Disney World!
