I just love this statement, Goofy'smuse! You are so right. Magic is when we make it and what we make of it! (which is probably why I hang out on the two best threads on this board.. here and the S/D thread! WE, all of us, understand magic!

*showing off the new manicure* I am vacation ready! Kid packed... I'll be packing after the hockey game Wednesday night!

#1HockeyMom!! YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME.

Yes, I'm shouting. Enjoy and let us know all about Pop when you get back. I live vicariously through your trips. :chat:

I'm still sick so still won't leave anything out. Nitey, nite.

Hey, at least I can breathe again!!:hyper:

sfbank - Happy Birthday!!!:cheer2: :cake: I meant to get on here before Monday was gone, but missed it by a little. Thought of you today, though! Hope you had a great day!!:Pinkbounc

johnsonet - Happy 10th Anniversary!:bride: :groom:

Debbie - Fantastic manicure, are you packed yet?! LOL! Have a great time!

jdm_dkm - I don't know where you can find a schedule, but first let me say WELCOME!!:teeth: You'll find lots of info and great conversation here!:chat: I can tell you that AKL has some of the best food offerings of all the concierge lounges. If you are a coffee drinker, the cappucino machine will make you want to live there! And, there are wine and beer offered, not sure the exact brands, and you have to ask for the beer as it is not out like the wine. I'm sure someone can give more info, hang out and ask away!!:wave2:

Good night, everyone! Oh, and thanks for the lemon squares, storybookmum, they are delicious!!::yes::

Ok,

Hey VAgal tell your DH that you and I will chaperone each other! As hard as he's trying to be a 21st century kind of guy, my DH is not taking the solo aspect of the trip well. I think he's more concerned about fending for himself for 3 days than about me reverting to the wild child I was pre-marriage!

Hehehehehe :p .....yep, we are a couple of "bad" girls, aren't we?

I'm convinced DH doesn't want me to have all the fun. He loves WDW as much as I do and wouldn't dare miss an opportunity to go. I've been on a few business trips without him by my side. I even flew to CA for a conference in October 2001 after the 9-11-01 events. I was nervous and extremely shocked DH didn't try to pull the plug on me. I did visit CA Adventures at Disneyland while I was there though. Our hotel was just a block away. If our budget will allow, he and I will be there in May! I'm shelling out big bucks for our summer trip since I'm funding the trip for 5 instead of 3 including meals, airfare and activities. MIL and SIL will only need souvenir money by the time I'm done.

Debbie - You're almost there!!!!!! :hyper:

Debbie threw out the 2nd week in July for the summer meet which I would consider if the crowds aren't super heavy. So, Debbie, how are the crowds that week? Heck, I'll put up with the heat if the crowds aren't much different then the end of June so I can make it to the meet.

Johnsonet - Happy Anniversary! How sweet it is!!!

Morticia - Welcome the lounge! AKL CL is the best!!!! Enjoy your trip.

:wave2: Okay, I need to get myself back to work. I'll check you guys later this afternoon!

#1HM: Have a fabulous trip. I know you and your son will love the POP. Love the manicure!!

Good morning all! Leaving out that good coffee (and turning on THE machine for all you AKL folks!). Also some breakfast...added bacon, eggs, sausage, grits (for us southerners), and good homemade biscuits in addition to the regular stuff. I tend to eat more when the weather turns chilly like it has today.

Anyway....

jdm_dkm ...I have never been to AKL, but welcome, and I am sure that the AKL folks will be here soon to answer your questions. (Yes I have just admitted that I have never even been to AKL)

For summer LL meet...I am throwing out third/fourth week of July. I plan on going July 21-July 30. (will probably be at CR for most of the trip, but will move to AKL for part if we do LL meet while I am there....although DS is concerned about the "smell" of the animals:rolleyes: .

Continued prayers and PD for those in need...especialy mmausse.

Have a MAGICAL day everyone!!

Cajunfan - What a yummy, hearty breakfast. That's the kind of breakfast we eat here, too. Don't worry about the smell of the animals because there is no odor. They keep the grounds extremely tidy. So tell your DH - no animal or animal poo smell there - LOL! Could you tell me how the crowds are for the 3rd week of July? I guess I'm a little obsessed with this question. I'm a little flexible with my dates - end of June to the 3rd week of July. DH has a thing about overcrowding so I have to respect wishes and not book our trip at the heaviest times. June was busy, but not over bearing.

BT,

You said the guides won't accept tips on the safaris, but what about Tusker House and Jiko?

Kathy

John's Mom - No tips necessary for Jiko's or Tusker House - they are included in the safari prices.

Thanks for the morning feast, cajunfan, but wait a minute - you southerners don't get to keep the grits to yourself! I love a nice creamy bowl of grits with a big puddle of butter right in the middle. I have to eat at Bob Evans once in a while just to get halfway decent grits for breakfast.

VAgal DH is somewhat appeased by the promise of joining me in WDW for the weekend after the Lizard Meet. Lord knows what our cell phone bills will be like that week - he left for a business trip in SC at 9 AM Sunday (first one without me) and had called 4 times by 4:30 that evening. I don't dare tell him how peacefully I sleep alone without the snoring, tossing and turning!

I haven't personally experienced the July crowds since I was 13, but August was nowhere near as crowded as I had feared. When the parks did get a little too crowded to suit us we just spent more time at the resorts, Downtown Disney, riding the monorail, etc. Our friends go the week after the 4th of July holiday every year and they swear by that time. Everything is open late, lots of entertainment going on, etc. and the crowds thin out considerably according to them. Hmm...think I'm talking myself into joining the summer Lizard meet too!

Donna - MIL and SIL are possibly going out of the country for a mission trip with the church to Costa Rica in June, but they don't have a set date yet. They are scrimping and saving to go and I don't want our trip interfering with this at all. I just talked to DH and MIL and looks like we will most likely go that 2nd week in July. Any takers for that week?

VAgal...I have been in 2002 and 2004 the last week of July into the first week of August. In 2002, there were virtually no crowds at all (enight was actually kind of spooky it was soooo empty). This year seemed a little more crowded, but very bearable. (I don't do very crowded well:rolleyes: ). The only park that was a bit too much this past trip was MGM on the weekend of July31-Aug1 (but this was ESPN weekend...) Other than that, it is not very crowded...but the trade off is it is very hot and humid (but if you go in June/July, you are expecting this any way). Our travel dates are fairly limited. My DS & I usually travel with a friend and her DS, and she is a teacher and her DS is at his dad's house the first half of the summer., so we can't go until usually the third week in July and have to be back before the second/third week in August. So it limits our options, but maybe we need to just have two mini-meets this summer! We plan on trying the CR (probably 12th floor...we will need the daybed...may bring a friend of the boys) and then spend a few days at AKL ( btw, didn't think there would be a bad smell, but DS is a really odd child...gets something in his mind and hard to get it out...)

VAgal - re: your crowd questions, we have gone in June, July and August, and July did not seem any more crowded than the last 3 weeks of June, IMO, and possibly a little less. The only part of June that was less crowded was the first week, before all the schools were out, but now with Gay Days that may be a busy week as well.

We can come any week between the first week of June to the third week of August, so plan away!!:teeth:

cajunfan - Thanks for the breakfast, grits MMMMMMM!Edited to add, don't worry, there is no smell from the animals at AKL!

Hey, Morticia! WELCOME! You have a couple of my favorite resorts on your list, AKL and the Poly!!::yes::

I wish I could hold out for that 3rd week - it seems more of us can hook up that week. I don't think DH wants to wait that long  :o . MIL and SIL don't care when they go to WDW, they just want to go period. I survived the end of June so I figure I can't be much worse than that and I can keep cool by throwing back a few. Hot and humid is hot and humid, right!? I'll see if I can push it back one more week.......then, it might be possible for me to make it to both meets! :teeth:

steveanddonna ~

Gosh, I hate to jump in here, but I just read your post:

"Our friends go the week after the 4th of July holiday every year and they swear by that time. Everything is open late, lots of entertainment going on, etc. and the crowds thin out considerably according to them."

The worst crowds I've ever encounted were the days surrounding July 4th! We stayed at the CR and could not even get back to the resort for the MK fireworks one night! Wanted to watch from our balcony, but no way! Do you think they mean the week after the week of the 4th???

We've been that week, last 2 weeks of July, all weeks in August, early and mid Sept, early Jan (11th) early Feb (1st or sec week)), early March (5th) and mid May...oh, and Thanksgiving :)

It is sooo hot in the summer - I get hives every time - but it is festive!

Good Morning Everyone - I am filled with so much Disney Joy today that PD is flowing through my veins. :earsgirl:

DH and I started our packing last night. Wow....we sure have a lot of stuff. But, we have to take a suit for him and evening clothes for me because we are going to the....drum roll please..... Exquisite Dinner at the Food and Wine Festival on October 17th to celebrate our 25th anniversary . This is my anniversary gift from my DH. But, he tells me that he has some other things up his sleeve too. I really believe he is getting very excited.

I hope that I can turn him into a WDW lover. For some one that lives out west, it can be a very $$ vacation. He is looking at this trip as a once in a life time. I'm looking at it as a first safari with more to come.

Boy, have we gotten some strange looks from friends and family when we tell them we are going to Disney World for TWO weeks. People out here really don't understand until they plan a trip or go for themselves. I try not to speak about how I interact with people on the boards and friendships that I've made. The reaction is "you are e-mailing strangers on the internet about our vacation plans!! They know when your are going and where you staying?" Don't you worry they may rob you?" The look my MIL gave me, she just "knows" I am insane.

Thats ok, because we know we are going to one of the greatest places in the world. We have the knowledge and know how (thanks to all of you and the DIS boards) to have a magically vacation saving money where ever we can and experiencing things we have never experienced before. All this without ever leaving the United States.::yes::

VAGAL 76 - - Thank you for sharing the info on tipping for the Sunset Safari. Great question, one I would have been wondering about the whole time I was on the safari.

Morticia- Welcome to the lounge. You will enjoy all of us here and learn so much. I would love to say HI while we all are at ALK. When do you arrive? You may want to pm me. As far as living in California, I do understand. But, I am going to try and make one of the LL meets next year.

Johnsonet - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY princess: :groom: I wish you much happiness and joy in the years ahead. On the question of when for a summer LL meet. You all just set it up. My DH and myself will have to see if we can be there. From what I understand there will be three LL meets next year. One in the Spring, Summer and at Christmas. I am sure we can make one of them. Just have to make sure DH gets lots of pd sprinkled daily on him for the next 3 weeks, so he will want to come back next year.

Debbie - - I will be looking for you at Pop when we arrive. I am looking forward to staying there. You have helped me so much with this trip. Thank you:sunny:

I had better get back to work. Thanks for the breakfast. The grits were fantastic. I sure to miss them since moving out here.

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Bouncing back to work.

Angel

 Thanks for all the "Happy Anniversarys":teeth:
Angel Have a wonderful Anniversary. What an accomplishment:lovestruc :wave2:

We went to WDW July 21-26 this summer and had great weather, but that was luck!! We had a wonderful time but I was surprised by the crowds - not as bad as Spring Break but Spectro was an absolute NIGHTMARE. I would go again at this time of year but it isn't exactly ideal...

Speaking of southern foods, I don't care for grits but I did just have red rice for lunch:hyper:

Have a good afternoon:sunny:

Angel ~

Happy 25th!! You'll have such a wonderful 2 weeks! This time last week I was packing for the GF ..not quite 2 weeks - more like 3 days! But it was 3 heavenly days and I look forward to returning.

Pixie dust on you both!!

:wave2:

(Sorry folks! I just have to do this!)

Only three more sleeps!!!!

(my suitcase is already packed and standing by the front door-pretty pathetic eh!):Pinkbounc :bounce: :wave2:

And trying to catch up on all the posts - whew!!! This will take me until my next Disney trip and I've no idea when that will happen :(

Just returned from first stay at GF - nope, not concierge, although Tammi did try to convince me to give it a try. I LOVED the GF, even more than the AK, Poly, BC, YC, Cont ( or CB, POFQ or POP)...here's the thing..I need HELP convincing myself to go Concierge next time...And where??? I don't want to give up a room in Boca Chica at the GF - loved my room location and view, as well as strolling about the grounds each day. Where to try conicerge the first time?
I can tell you are just the folks to turn for help in this very serious matter!!

Thanks much!
