Hi there.

Just checking in. Haven't been around in a while.

Welcome back, Bambi!! Can't wait to hear about CR 14th floor!

I'm about to make reservations for WDW over Christmas. We are moving from Michigan to Vero Beach and DH wants to spend Christmas at AKL or WL.

We also have a new arrival coming to our family on April 9, 2005 so things have been a little hectic around here.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Wow, congratulations! How exciting, so you will have to plan another trip to WDW for say April 10 or 11 :rotfl: :rotfl:
After all we lizards celebrate every significant and even non-significant life events with another trip to the WORLD

Welcome back Cajunfan and Bambi! I can't wait to hear all about the 14th floor and about both of your adventures in the world!

KAC'smom>> The space station; how cool is that! I am sure your DH is sorry he missed that, but so glad you heard it!

KerryCM>> Quit worrying and get down to being pampered! You need some R and R and I know your family will come through with flying colors! Best of luck to you in the coming days.

Floridafam>> Congrats on the new baby and the new move! My grandparents live in that area right on the coast. It is just lovely! You won't have to snow ever again!

Chicken Pox and shingles>> I knew you could get them again if you had the shot. It is like the fact you can get them again if you have a mild case. I wanted both my kids to have them as kids (since adults get them SOO bad) so I opted not to have my son get the shot and he promptly caught the chicken pox during the summer when he was five, which worked out great! LOL DH has gotten shingles, and for those that think only older people get them you'll be surprised to know he was only 23! It was horrible and he was in a ton of pain. That is one of those memories I've put way in the back of my mind! The doctor said it probably wouldn't matter to DH whether or not DS got the pox since he'd been exposed through others by CP in the past and hadn't gotten shingles. go figure. Mmause, I feel for you having CP at 42 since I had a friend who had them in their 20's. CP are so much worse the older you get!

Big wave to all! I set out the evening offerings; please help yourself!

Debbie

Hey!!

Thought I'd add my $.02 to the chicken pox discussion - my kids just missed being able to take the shot, and they all got them at the same time. DH, who didn't have them as a child, got them, too. He was in his early 30's, and was very miserable!!! And, as luck would have it, he got shingles a year or so ago, when he was 41 but he mentioned the strange sores on his waist to his Dr. and he was able to get medication that cleared it right up. Apparently, if you catch shingles early enough, you can take an anti-virus drug (very expensive!) to get rid of them before they become severe.

Trying to stay OT (too late, huh?!:p ) can't wait to hear from Bambi and cajunfan about their CL visits. We need more input on the CR 14th floor, right Lizards?!

Kerry - glad your testing is done, as Debbie says, relax and let someone take care of you!!::yes::

floridafam - :wave2: Congratulations!! For both. So jealous of your move!;) I wanna go, I wanna go!!!:teeth:

Had to add:

Alice and GoofyJoofy>> GET PACKING! You're both about to leave for the world! I hope the weather cooperates for both of you so you have wonderful vacations! Even if it doesn't, you're going to Disney and a bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work, right? :)

Hi,
I just booked concierge at the Dolphin. I've never stayed in a concierge room, but after reading some of this thread, I was excited about reserving the room. Since I'm a newbie to concierge, what can I expect. Is there a separate checkin for us, what type of food is served, can they do something special for my 2 DS's who will celebrate a birthday while there? How do I set this up ahead of time.

Don't suppose you are offering to do it for me ;)
:rotfl:

But yes, even though there is a threat of hurricanes I figure we will have so much more fun in Disney than if we stay home. (except for flying in one )

Actually last year we were in Mexico when tropical storm Bill came through. There was no thunder and lightening, so my kids figured they were wet anyway, so they went swimming. My DS still talks about swimming in a hurricane! :earseek:

Good eveing all...I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things...

Our stay at the Poly was GREAT!

THe mini-meet was a lot of fun! I met BambiTambi (and her Mom) and SteveandDonna at Ohana's for dinner. It was my first time there...everything was wonderful...ambiance and food! I, of course, ate way to much!

The fireworks cruise that they had arranged was fabulous! (BTW, BT & SteveandDonna...the Poly quiet pool says "NO DIVING"...something else for captain Joel to check out...). They surprised us with desserts on the cruise.....Cinderella's Slippers for the adults and Dirt Cups for the boys....OH MY GOSH...they were DIVINE!!!! I love WISHES so much, that I bought the CD so I could listen to it whenever I want.

More on the Poly next.....

Cajunfan It sounds like y'all had a FABULOUS time:bounce:

I'm SO looking forward to the LL meet in May - let's get planning! So many people to meet and SO much fun to have!:hyper: :earseek:  :smooth: :Pinkbounc

cajunfan - Welcome back. Glad you had a great time at the Poly and really enjoyed the cruise.

My son's girlfriend also fell in love with the music from Wishes. I just found out that she had looked for the CD while we were there and could not find it. Does anyone know where I could order it? I'd like to surprise her with it now.

I'm with you mmausse, let's get planning! I can hardly wait for the May Lizard Meet! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

YCFAN...I bought my copy of the Wishes CD at Once Upon a Toy in DD. I saw it just about everywhere BUT World of Disney store. You might want to try the WDW Merchandise Number to get it.

So all you lizards out there, when exactly is the May LL meet? I hope not the first week of May...as there are other threads out there about concierge level being booked solid for at least the Poly and and another hotel....

Also, as much as I LOVED the Poly, I felt very "warm & cozy" at WL...anyone care to offer any info on this resort? Majestic are you out there?

Lynn

I'm off to the dentist, but wanted to run in here to find Alice's countdown clock! I see it is a few days after Charlie, so my idea won't be of any help. I was going to tell her to start making PS's at her resort just in case she was stuck there and didn't want to go out into the big rain. One major plus is that staying concierge makes it so easy and so much fun to be at your resort for the day!

Big wave to everyone!
Debbie

Thanks, Deb, for thinking of us!!! You better believe we've been keeping an eyeball on the ol' Weather Channel!! It looks like we will luck out, and it will be mostly over by the time we take off from KC on Monday! YAY! I'm sure we're gonna get some rain, though. We have Kona Cafe and Ohana booked for the first lunch and dinner at the Poly, so hopefully we're set. Our plans were to do EMH every day, and then enjoy the resort for most of the late morning and afternoon, head out to dinner and maybe go to the parks later, if we were up to it.

So sorry for all the DIS'ers who are down there right now, though! Hope they stay dry, and have a little Magic while there, any way.::yes::

OK, finally got these uploaded to Webshots - not too many pix but I'm sure BT will have plenty more!

Still working on the trip report and trying to get DH (captainconcierge) to post here again - all we can think about is the next trip!

#1hockeymom you are right on target about CL making rainy days so much easier - we had rain from 3 PM 'til around 9 PM on Saturday and probably would have gone stir crazy without the lounge and everything. As it was, it just made for a nice little relaxing lull in the trip.

I am new to concierge. I am a Lounge Lizard wantabe. I tried to read some of the posts and got lost in the posts. We will be staying at AKL the first week of DEC. Are some rooms better than others? 5th or 6th floor? Can you get beer in the lounge? (My husband wants to know) Any other hints that might be useful? I have the sunrise safari already booked.
Well that all for the first round. Thanks!!!:wave2: :wave2:

steveanddonna - tried to look at the photos but got an error saying I was not the owner :(

BT - Ok girl friend, this Mouse Poop story sounds very interesting, especially since you were at the House of Mouse :rotfl:
On a serious note, I am dying to hear your tales of the BC - we are getting soooooo excited :earseek:  that I can't stand it!

Dying to hear the "mouse poop" story and to see the new pictures! I know I haven't told my whole story, but I'll be piggy backing off of Disbug's trip reports. That lady does an awesome job with everything she touches!

nrsldy>> You're going to my favorite resort and will have a wonderful time! You can request beer during the 5-7 lounge hours when they have the wine out. Maybe you can request it other times but I only noticed it on tables during that time. For the best information go to http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_akl.htm and there are great public pictures at http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/asp/pix.asp?resort. You did well grabbing the sunrise safari! We've been on it twice and loved it both times!

Email is a great way to stay in contact with their IPO with any questions or suggestions you might want from them. Jiko is lovely place for dinner, with Boma a very close second, especially if you are doing dinner with kids. There are a ton of activities for resort guests there so be sure to read the message boards by bell services on the main floor (lobby level 3rd floor) or near the elevators between Boma and Jiko on the first floor.

Room location preference runs the gamut of the resort! I prefer fourth or fifth floor out on the ends, where some prefer right near the lobby. Zebra Trail with either Arusha or Uzima savannah is preferred in almost all cases since there is a short cut to the pool area from the middle of that Trail.

Dentist gave me a good report! Now if only the weather would give out good reports, too! PD for better weather for Florida!

Debbie
