Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Thanks

I'm thinking about moving into a 2 BR suite at AKL if we can't get RPC. Does anyone know if they ever give an AP rate for suites? We would still stay there even if we couldn't get the discount.

Decisions, Decisions. I need to start making some decisions.

AKL CL does blow you away! They are simply wonderful there!
I was impressed with the BWI CL staff also....
I guess what I loved the most, was that BWI is the complete opposite of AKL pertaining to themeing, location, animals....
but, BWI CL is now up there with my favorite AKL CL!
I'm just an ecletic type of gal! I like alot of different things.

mom_rules...I sent you a PM....you're going to LOVE the BWI CL!!! So peaceful, quiet, lavish......:sunny:

pirate...Woody is right about how to get a room! Just call and go day by day to get what you want.

As for suite discounts, sometimes you can get bumped up with an AP discount applied to the suite. If the CLCM doesn't know how to do this, ask for the manager...they're usually more than happy to upgrade....IF it's available....and if you are willing to pay more.
(but not full rack rate).

AKL...I booked full rack rate because I wanted to make sure that we had it for our family and as a suprise for my dad.

But, to be honest, I'm hooked on suites now! :earseek:
It is wonderful to have your own "space" away from the kids and other traveling companions.

And...twinmomplus2new said that they're accepting the new code for suites. me thinks I'll try that out this morning!;)

mmausse...sounds good! I guess if anyone wants it, they just need to PM you!:wave2:

I've got to go and clean out my PM box again....:(
where's mousekeeping when I need them?:p

Welcome to the lounge all you new lizards!

Piratesofthecarolinas - I believe you can get an AP discount on the 2 bedroom ste. at AKL...if I remember what BT "taught" me. ;) I don't think it's real easy to get, but possible. Also, could you be from one of our other favorite places except WDW - Black beard area, possibly? :teeth:

Mom_Rules - The garden suite are easier to get without discounts if you don't mind shelling it out. I don't know about the chances of upgrades, but I believe they would upgrade you if you asked when you got there and it was open. BT got it at the last moment before leaving - LUCKY DUCK!!!!

Thanks for all the compliments, too, guys! I normally reserve the term cutie for my DH & DS.

I have a few surfing pics and other various ones, but it will take me a while to do. I hope you guys will have some patience with me since I've not done this before. I keep falling asleep at the wheel after that exciting trip which isn't helping much either - LOL!

BT we posted at the same time....

Are you at "lunch" too?

just got done putting my downpayment on my July 2005 WL Concierge room (package actually). I am sooooooo excited.
Now to make the payments and get it paid off and pray for those good discounts for next year like this year.......

Just had to share....

LOL, VAgal!!!

"You need another vacation AFTER this last vacation" has set in!:hyper:

No lunch yet! I've got to get to my store as most of my best customers come in after lunch and afternoon.

" The Cutie and the Blonde Goddess"....I LOVE it!:teeth:

Thanks for all of the replies.

I think if I want the 2 Br. suite I will have to book it because it is the weekend after Thanksgiving. I just wondered if anyone had gotten an AP rate specifically on a 2 br. without upgrading.

VAgal, I live in Greensboro, NC. We do love the Outerbanks. A friend of mine is related to Blackbeard. We aren't going to the beach this year since we have APs. Nov. will be our 3rd trip this year!

Lori

No, no AP discounts on those 2 bedroom suites thru CRO/WDTC.
:(

And ksy8384....Congrats to you!!! Just stick around the lounge while you wait for more discounts and CL tips!
:wave2:

BT - Our limo driver said that we would need another vacation after this one, too & he also asked how we were going to top this vacation next year - LOL! I do need another vacation. I have a 3 1/2 day weekend coming up this weekend because of the holiday so I can take the time to do what I hadn't done at WDW - SLEEP! Topping it next year, I don't think so. I could try to come close though ;).

What kind of views do the 2 bdrm suites at GF have? Are they all Lagoon? Does anyone know? I was thinking RPC 2 bdrm suite for the 5 of us next time we go. Do they discount those at all? I know the answer is probably not, but I have to ask to make sure.

I loved the view we had AKL though it wasn't a suite....but it was next to one. BT - what's the set up on the Royal Kuba suite again? I know you did a peek-a-boo with it before. Am I remembering correct, did you have photos of it?

Lori - A hardy pirate's - Aaarrrggghhh!!! to you **giggling** That's interesting that your friend is related to Black Beard. I'm around the Richmond, VA area and we loved Emerald Isle area, too. We will escape to SOB again in the next couple of years. Right now, just like you I am addicted to WDW - there I said it! It's part of the 12 step program, you know.

Okay, I need to focus on work. I'll :chat: with you guys later. :wave2:

Just droppin in to day "hello"

BT--LOVED your pix. As everyone has said, how wonderful to put a face with name. That's probably why we stopped in to meet both Melissa (at Poly) and wonderful Sue (at AKL). Anyway, I think we got your suite in our pix by the pool. I tried to see some on our last day (already thinking of the next trip of course). Unfortunately, all suites were full. One of the girls in the lounge said you could also get a 1 bedroom and attach another reg room to it since the suites are on the end.

I'm so glad you took so many pix of the lounge. I think I embarrass my hubby taking all the pix but you've gotta remember it all so you can dream for next time!

VAgal, I thought **************** had many pix of the suites too.

If you can believe it, we are taking off again tomorrow. My dad lives in Reno up in the mountains so we will spend a long holiday weekend sipping drinks poolside. I also get to see my brother who moved to Charleston SC last year so it will be great. Hope everyone has a happy and safe fourth! Maybe I'll get some time to check in from another time zone!

Lisa

To anyone that has a question to what I did, welcome to the lizard lounge! To everyone else who is used to my rambling, you know I have been pining for the ankole family, tasting African smoothies in my sleep, going to bed by the beating of the drums in my head. To top it off, suddenly I hear baby ankole calling my name!

I called... they had it for the AP rate... WE'RE RESERVED!

Happy happy happy happy!
Debbie
*going to change my counter information right now!*

Are you HAPPY or what Debbie?! LOL ;) Good for you, glad you made the change. Your trip is going to be a blast. ::yes::

YEAAAAAHHHH!!!!

So happy you got it!! Now, you just need to call for that Sunset Safari!! Actually, thanks to BT's pix, I may have hubby talked into a suite next time. Of course, he's thinking at least next summer......RIGHT! I'm thinking 1st weekend in Dec. Never been for the holidays. Anyway, so, so, glad you get to see your "baby" close up again. Sure you can't fit me in your suitcase?

Welcome to the new lounge lizards!

Debbie, I am sure you're thrilled! I hope your stay at AKL is as wonderful as your past trips have been if not even better! :sunny:

Debbie that is WONDERFUL! princess:

New Lizards of the Lounge - A hearty welcome. Pull up a chair, grab a drink and some snacks and join the conversation :chat:

Continued P & PD to all those recovering and anticipating procedures. (mmause-your knee surgery is on my DH's b-day). And my heart still aches for Alice & her family.

GoofyJoofy-congrats to your DS's team. My DD(5) is going to baseball camp this week. She's one of about 5 girls out of about 200 (but lots of girl coaches) and the poor thing is only used to a plastic bat (the only safe one with a 3 year old wild man) so she's having a tough time holding a real bat. BUT...she says she having fun!

LOVED all the photos and while the Poly has a very special place in my heart those AKL photos are inviting. I understand why Debbie made the switch. My kids would love those kids activities-gotta try more at the Poly next trip. I also like the playground-wish Poly had one but then again kids would probably rather stay there. I think it will be hard enough to get them out of the pool in October.

Lisa-I loved the photo of your DH walking DS back to Poly from GF. I noticed you had a porta crib in the Poly room. How did that work out? I had rented a full size crib in Jan and then DD(1) wouldn't sleep in it. I'm hoping now that she's walking she'll be more tired and will sleep anywhere.

I came to work Monday and had a voice mail message from IPO! How exciting and nice to be welcomed back! So now I've got to finalize my plans. I am torn between wanting to make this trip relaxing for my DH and doing the things I know will be magical for my kids (like a few character meals). I asked my DH a few weeks ago what he thought of the birthday party we had for my DS at CP in Jan and he said it was crowded and loud then when I asked a few days later if he enjoyed anything about our trip he said the CL, Ohanas and CP

What do you lizards think of our first night dinner? I was going to do Ohana's but now we're flying in on Friday and want to go with friends who will be arriving Sat. I was thinking of doing Kona because I've read great things about it and it will be relaxing for DH to have dinner right there at the Poly but now I'm thinking maybe we could try GF Cafe. Its got a great kids menu and I was thinking I could order special desserts to make for a very special start to the trip but then again the desserts at Kona look pretty good too. I do plan on 1900 Park Faire for later in the trip so I could get dessert for then and if we don't do Kona then we will later in the trip. Any advice? Oh my DH LOVES the GF and its such a nice walk from Poly.

VAGal-I saw on the weather channel the other night lightning deaths by state and FL was way ahead of any other state!

For this year's concierge trip in Sept I was considering either Poly or CR... for you lounge lizards who know them, which one should I try?

I've never tried CR or AKL so I can't compare I've got to say we love the Poly. It is so magical at night with tiki torches, music, castle, swings and hamocks on the beach and fireworks. I would think your DD would love the pool-you can even swim while watching the fireworks. I also love the fact that you can walk to TTC to catch direct monorail to Epcot.

 You mean DH was right? I really had a reason to be a little freaked? I'll keep a better watch next time I'm down there :magnify:.

Debbie - What wonderful news!!!! AKL HERE YOU COME!!! Baby Ankole is getting all misty knowing you'll be there any day now. :D

lovesdumbo...my vote goes for Kona.
We ate there this last trip and were VERY pleased with the food and service.

 and prayers for all my friends here in need.:wave2:

 I'm Baacckk!!~And had the BEST Birthday celebration ever~! I want to THANK each and every one of you for sending me such HAPPY wishes for a great celebration! You all truly made me smile as I logged on to post! :grouphug:

DH & DD and I took a LIMO to DL for some late eve fun (my style!!), and enjoyed every magical moment (Especially the fireworks!). Bought some souveniers and pins, (among other mememtos) and spent the eve in a suite in the Grand Calif. hotel overlooking CGA park. We even dined (my choice) in the RFC!! I LOVE the 2 locales in WDW, and am so thrilled there is one in the DTD district. The coconut shrimp and the egg rolls are my favs! We shopped around, and then returned to share some CAKE/Cahmpagne!! In the am, we traveled via plane (puddle-jumper) up the coast for an intimate family sunrise brunch...then home. :goodvibes

I received so many nice gifts, flowers, cards and special certificates from friends & family. One of my GF's is hosting a little party friday eve as well...so my BD is extended somewhat! :teeth: DD & DH gave me several special/unique presents...including some surprises to be revealed on our vacation! I am truly tickeld over my new pool chairs:

I have a couple of nice blue ones, but they are a different design. I am heading to the pool w/DD for some leisure~time in these new seats right now. DH is on his way home, and will fire~up the grill and BBQ for dinner! Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer too. I have more cake here...:cake: and some delicious LOFTHOUSE cookies sent by special delivery! You are all welcome to "help yourself" and also partake of the beverage assortment! :drinking1

Thank you, again. You are all so special to me...and a wonderful part of my world! :lovestruc
