Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

OCD took over....if the Concierge is too busy, then ok...perfectly understandable, no problem. I don't want to bother them, but I do want to book.

Took care of my last two PSings and 1 change in PS myself...

Now all I need from Concierge is to book the Sunrise Safari.

I got every PS I wanted all week....including CRT, and also the Pirate Adventure for DD.

Smiling!!

Kris

Storybookmum, sometimes it's very difficult not to be OCD when it comes to anything Disney. I would let your pre-planner know about the bookings that you made and give them the confirmation numbers. That way, they'll include it on your personal itinerary when you check in.

A nice thing about having concierge do your booking, is that it is noted in the computer system that you are a concierge guest. In fact, when I looked over the shoulder of one hostess, I saw notated next to our name "VIP". I think that has been a real benefit to us in the past, with very little waiting and always wonderful tables. Sounds like you did a great job on your own though.

Just wanted to add my experience. We've stayed at the Polynesian concierge a number of times and Sugar Loaf twice. I really enjoy making my own PSs (I know this is contrary to most of the LL!). In all our trips, I've only had a couple made by IPO.

Anyway, when you check in all your PSs will be listed on your itinerary whether you make them or IPO. Also IPO can easily access the PSs that you've already booked.

There's Courvoisier and Drambuie out as well as some nice little chocolate mousse cups. Bon noite, lounge lizards.

I appreciate the advice; this level of pampering is previously unbeknownst to me....

I think I might try just a wee bit of one of those drinks and a little chocolate....thank you!

Kris

I'm baaaaack...... well sort of.

Sorry I haven't been "in-touch" with y'all, no, not due to Charley or Frances, but medical - knee again. The short scoop, went to PT (short for physical torture), my therapist was stretching my leg and complaining about how tight it was and something just popped. We all heard it and I felt it. APparently I felt it so much that I passed out cold, on the spot. They told me they didn't notice immediately, because I usually get REALLY quiet when I'm in pain. I guess a couple of minutes went by (a fellow patient filled me in)and when the therapist put my leg down, the rest of me went with it. The patient said they all freaked. They got smelling salts and revived me, BUT, as I'm, allergic to smelling salts, they revived me long enough to put me into anaphylactic shock. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it was a "Fun" day at PT!:earseek: :earseek:

Needless to say, they have greatly revised my physical therapy routine. Oh, the popping noise, yeah, well that was my knee dislocating. It's ok, she put back in place once they revived me, shot me full of epi, and then held me down while they reduced it.

I'm just so happy to be here.

I have read all the posts, and am excited for everyone leaving for the WOrld. I am pleased that no one was too badly damaged during Frances' recent stay in FLorida - albeit it DID sadden me to hear about the Ocean Grill in Vero. I guess you can REALLY get an ocean-front seat now...... My parents sold their condo in Hutchinson Island last year. It is now under water. They are VERY happy now.

KerryCM Thanks for the PM. Sorry to hear of your recent trouble. Thank you for the update on Jackie and her family. My prayers to all of our Disney friends who are burdened by the recent "waves" of wind from the ocean. On that note, I sent a letter and a check to Mr. Eisner thanking him for the Corporation's support of the CM's during Charley - he actually hand-wrote me a thank-you note back!

More doctors visits manana. Oh joy, and I also have to lose 15 pounds.

Take care and g'night!

Oh, BT, it'll be a "near-miss" in December - we're at the Poly with our nephew Dec. 8-11. We leave the day you arrive! We're looking forward to the holiday atmosphere, too; haven't been at that time since 2001 with the scared-of-everything niece. Hope your pipe incident is not too serious and your fall and holiday season is off to a galloping start!

steveanddonna, Yet another coincidence on dates! If you happen to be at the Kona Cafe on Friday the 10th around 10:30 am, stop by and say "hi". We'll be the table of 5 with the two adults worshipping their delicious Kona coffee, along with the 3 middle schoolers who are not "morning people", especially after an MVMCP night! :teeth: :wave2:

Good morning!

Hi everyone. Sorry but I fell off the face of the earth for a while and I needed to wait to catch a ride back. :)

Hope that all of you are well and doing the usual "lizard" thing you/we all do best. :teeth:

Maybe if I have some more time I will pop in a bit more often.

P.S. DW is scheduled to go in for a csection on 10/1. It's another girl. I will be surrounded by women!!! ::yes::

Cyas!

mmause, what an ordeal at PT!! PT is bad enough without these delightful little Torquemade attempts on their part...yipes!

Praying for your recovery!

Magestic - wonderful that you're having another girl - girls are the best! Sorry your DW has to have a C/S - hope she heals quickly and all goes smoothly.

Please pass the tea - wonderful start to the morning, the dog got the runs all over the carpet.

Can I start packing today? I wanna run away.

Oh that sounds so terrible. I do hope you are feeling better now.
I would have thought the therapist would have known your allergies and been prepared. Glad to hear it did not put you into the hospital. Do take care of yourself.

That was very nice of you. Thank you for thinking about all the wonderful CMs that make our trips so magical. You are a dear.

First, my apologies if these questions have been answered elsewhere on this thread. I did read a dozen or so pages before I decided to post.

Both my husband and I will be celebrating our birthdays (they're two days apart) while we're there in November. He's got one of those "decade" BDs this year, which is the reason we decided to splurge on concierge level.

I know they're probably all terribly busy in the aftermath of the hurricane. When do you think its okay to make contact?

What is the best way to contact IPO at AKL? I called one day and the person I talked to seem very distracted (this was probably 2-3 weeks ago). Perhaps email is better? Anyone know the email address there?

What should I expect from the IPO? I'd like to take advantage of their services but don't know what they provide. I know they'll make PSs for you - is there more?

Should I tell the IPO that we're both having BDs that week?

Who is the best person/department to talk to about arranging something special to celebrate DH's birthday? I'm not sure what we want to do and would like some help with what might be available.

Thanks for your help.

Susan

I first tried to make contact with AKL concierge on Wednesday last week. I still haven't heard anything from them either through email or phone; obviously, taking the hurricane into account, I'm not surprised. I'm very eager to talk to them, but have to be fair.

You should definitely tell them about the birthdays. Apparently the zebra cakes are not at all unusual (the impression I'm getting here is that these are surprises that don't go on the tab - PLEASE someone correct me if I'm wrong!!).

I would go ahead and email now, just mentioning that you understand they're probably very busy. That's what I did. The email there is wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney.com

IPO is the only way you can get your sunrise Safari reservations, which everyone says is a must do. I gather they also put a bit of priority on your PS...a "VIP" notation, which might give you better seats, and make you feel more like a princess: .

The name Don keeps popping up for AKL....

I'm very excited, too; I can't wait to make contact with them and see what happens. When are you going?

Majestic.... Good to see you buddy!
Yoohoo!!!! Like I've told my DB...

Your family will continue to be in our prayers!:wave2:

MNSusan...WELCOME to the LIZARD LOUNGE!!!!:bounce:
storybookmum has given you alot of good advice!

Don and Andrea are wonderful!
(Susan is still "on leave" and she is the BEST!!! IMHO!) ;)

Usually, they'll get back to you immediately!
Even the OC BT is waiting for GF IPO to email back....hehehe!
(I got a good chuckle out of storybookmum's OC'ism on top of this page!)

I'm not real good on guessing age but I'd say she's in her late 50's to mid 60's. Parents don't stay so I'm not sure how much actual dancing she does. She does have a high school aged girl help her out.

mmausse-sending prayers & PD your way.

majestic-nice to see you again. I've got to agree-girls are great! Congrats on the exciting upcoming events! My girls both slept through the night around 12 weeks vs son who was over 3 years:eek:

Susan-how about a tour in one of parks? My DH is a horticulturalist so I'm arranging for him to take the garden tour at Epcot but there are lots of other tours too that sound fun. Then maybe a special dinner? I'm sure IPO will have some ideas.

mmausse What a horror story! :earseek: I wish you the best!
I am holding off on contacting AKL IPO but if anyone has contact with them, please report how the resort fared and how the CMs are doing...

Oh yeah, and I'm almost into the double digits :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :teeth:

MNSusan - Not sure what kind of things he is into, but a friend of mine, who is into NASCAR, told me about this. Disney has a few Richard Petty Driving experiences. The one my friend did, was he sat in a car with a professional driver, who took him around the race track a few times. Each lap went faster and faster. I think he travelled at about 150 - 180 mph at top speed.

There are other experiences, where they teach you to drive, and let you drive, but these are at much lower speeds, and more costly. I think AllEars has some information on this, but I'd have to look to find it. :) I thought this sounded neat, and maybe someday I'll give it a try.

Just found the info. Try this link: Richard Petty

Some IPO staff are better than others at making suggestions, but they all can help you implement them and make dreams come true.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: OUCH!!!!

So glad you're back.

Magestic, good to see your typeface again. Girls are good.

I don't want to be insensitive and I can't imagine how busy IPO must be. Since they have so many problems right now, my little dinners must seem so insignificant. So instead of bothering them with my silly requests, I think I'll make my own ps, since I haven't heard a word from Poly IPO either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I make the ps, then tell Poly IPO, they will be able to assemble them all for me so I can have a printout when I check in??:scratchin

I am really stressed about my ps because I am going for ......drum roll here.... Christmas (are you sick of me yet???) and I know that it is a busy time...
::yes:: :goodvibes :bitelip:

I called the Poly IPO yesterday and they called me back. I can't remember who I talked to, but she said that most everybody made it through ok. Some had damage from Charley already. I also talked to them about my WL trip in Dec. I wanted to get my Illuminations Cruise request in early.

I actually talked to Amy at the YC on Monday. She got back to me right away and was downright chipper. I was worried about getting my Illuminations cruise request in early also. There's a big Mousefest going on during the same time and they have the cruises listed on their itinerary. I felt so bad bothering them right after the hurricane and it was only to make sure that my request was in the system. Amy was wonderful though. Maybe some area's are experiencing more cleanup than others???

I phoned a week ago to upgrade to CL, and it didn't go through!!! I almost :faint:!

I just talked to Andrea; she called me (hurray!) and put a tentative hold on the Sunrise Safari for us...

I'm on with a CM now at CRO finding out what's going on..."usually they don't even have you in their system until five days before your arrival." (???)

NO, they still have me in the Deluxe Savannah BB. AGH! -- like that would be so bad, good grief, that was a huge treat when i first booked, now I'm dying to get CL so I can be on :cloud9:

She's reminding me I could have pool view in CL (:scared1: stuff of nightmares, but Lisa tells me I should be fine because there aren't many pool view CLs and most of them are smoking).

She's checking my Florida res discount availability...it's only available for the deluxe pool view room (more info than I have yet received, but am not tempted to lose my Savannah!)

On hold while she checks to make sure there are no other problems. :worried:

She's modifying the deposit so that we have enough of a deposit at AKL...(we had a big deposit on POR, she's transferring it over)...

(the stress! Why is everything so complicated? They always think we're a Grand Gathering, because our reservations are linked with the ILs, though there are only 7 of us. You should have heard the phone call when I moved from a trundle bed room at POR which would have fit the five of us to a standard room, when it occurred to me that Jessica could sleep with the ILs since we're not staying there the extra two nights after they leave)....it was insane! I was on the phone for 2 HOURS with them trying to work it out. To my mind, all they had to do was take Jessica's name off our reservation and put her on the ILs).

Okay....phew. We're fixed. Phoning Andrea back...she's agreeing we're all set, locking us in for the Safari, and assuring me that it's a very slim chance to have a pool view, that they have very few that don't overlook one of the three savannahs.

Another wee panic! What are my odds of not overlooking the Arusha Savannah??? The whole reason we moved was for this knock their socks off surprise!!

Gotta go check my blood pressure and have some chocolate.

Kris

Hi Kris!
I'm sorry about your "scare" re. your room!
Can you tell me, since you spoke w/ Andrea today, did she mention how everything was going at the resort (re. Hurricane Frances)?
Thanks! Hope your reservation gets ironed out;)
