Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

*big sigh* I didn't book the trip last night. I WILL book another trip, but I am thinking that Jan/Feb I'll really NEED the trip while right now it would just be a nice break. Granted, my AP will have to be rebought for a later trip, but it would be great to have an AP for another year! :) I had called my mom last night to see if she wanted to join us for the trip, but it seems I am the only one in the family used to pulling these last minute trips out of my hat and feeling good about them! Must be the hockey season last minute tournaments that make us not care if things are planned way in advance, or a few nights before!

Thanks to everyone for helping me come up with "justifications" LOL(Donna, I am totally cracking up over your post!)

Debbie

Debbie,

Perhaps you could come the weekend of the marathon in January. Myself and our fearless leader BT will both be there then. I would LOVE to meet you! ::yes:: (The marathon weekend is the weekend of Jan. 8th.)

*grabbing calendar*Would you still be there by the 13th? We went Thurs-Monday of the MLK weekend last year and just loved it! It moves it a bit more away from just coming back from Christmas vacation. Thursday and Friday we had the parks to ourselves! I believe we have Feb 13-16 off, also. I will DEFINITELY keep the marathon weekend in mind, though, if ONLY to meet both of you!

I forgot to say it earlier, but a big welcome to all of the new lizards!

Just wanted to sing the praises of Andrea at AKL CL. After I made my reservations a few days ago I emailed the AKL IPO and she got back to me quickly.
I am on the list for the Sunrise Safari and she got me tix to the Dec. 17 MVMCP. My DD is going to be so thrilled - "Snow" on Main Street!:Pinkbounc I really think this trip will be amazing as we have never visited during the holidays:teeth:
My AKL daydreams revolve around the Concierge Lounge, so I hope DD doesn't mind not spending much time in the parks:crazy: I picture us spending most days at the Lodge (so many wonderful activities plus the hot tubs and, oh yes, the ANIMALS!) and our evenings at the parks. Is Osbourne Lights just amazing?!?!
:wave2:

johnsonet - Osborne Family Lights is totally amazing. We saw it in 2001 and at first thought that the little bit on New York Street was the whole shebang. Then...we saw the backlot. OMG! Neither DH nor I are into the more-lights-is-better school of holiday decorating, but this was just magical - an absolute wonderland.

#1hockeymom you need my DH to influence your DH. Mine came back from golfing this afternoon and was a bit down about his poor round. Head in hands he said, "I golf better at Disney and those are tough courses." I jokingly (mostly, anyways) said, "Well, there's discounts out - maybe we should go for a weekend in September so you can golf." He was all for it - his face about fell to his knees when I told him I was joking.

Welcome to the lounge all you new lizards! Hope you love it here as we do.

Well, I just have to introduce you to a new LL-My DH, I switched my ressie at GF to AP rate-only had Lagoon view available. My DH is so disappointed. They had no concierge available, so of course he has me checking everyday. I've corrupted him! Well fellow LL-off to work tonight. Hopefully not too many moms in labor tonight, I still have a lot of planning to do.

We will be staying @ CR Tower Club next May...our first time!! DH, myself, DD8, DD5, DD3, DS1...DD's 6th bithday is while we are there. Can someone plase give me a little info about tower club (12th floor). What do they offer for breakfast and snacks...do they offer water and soda? Do we get the same help planning our PS's as full concierge?

Thanks,

Lisa

Okay, you've all convinced me!

I've been reading all the wonderful information in this room and we trying concierge for the first time. But I have a question that I'm hoping someone can help with. I would like to have a gift basket waiting in the room for the family. Some items I cannot get here before we leave, but some items I've already purchased. Is it possible to call and order some items from the park stores and mail the restto the resort? Would they put the park items in the basket if I send it down and put it in our room prior to arrival? Has anyone here tried this?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Ok - new member here! Our first stay was at the Poly conc a few years back when we got an awesome AP rate - just too good to pass up! Then we went to California and did the concierge there, and then back to the Poly and the AKL - and we just couldn't give it up!!

The reason I am joining this now is....well....on a whim yesterday, I logged into the DIS to see what was going on. Saw all the hoopla about EWP, BAT, AP rates, etc. and just thought I would check it out. Sure enough - they had a discount for when we could go in December and I made ressies - ON A WHIM!!!!! We took a wonderful, long vacation this summer and didn't think DH would approve of spending money again so soon. He really seemed pretty good when I first told him about it. We have a 16 yr old who will be going with his HS choir in April and DH said it might make it easier on the younger ones to know they were getting to go too!

After I let the initial shock wear off - I said - well - I made CL ressies, but we COULD save some moeny by going to a regular room at the Poly or even the CR (my boys love the Garden Wing CR). He kinda looked at me and said - if we are going to do this - we might as well do it! That was it! WDW HERE WE COME>

Lisa...I posted pics of the 12th and 14th floor on the CR FAQ thread.
You will receive the SAME Itinerary Planning assistance as all CL guests do.
You will be able to get sodas, plastic bottled juices and glass bottled waters for your in-room fridge.
The breakfast and snack offerings are the same, and if you need any assistance after 4 pm, you can simply call upstairs to the 14th and they will help you out with any requests!:teeth:

Basically, no evening or alcohol offerings, and no "common balcony" to view WISHES.

And a BIG WELCOME to ALL of our NEW LIZARDS!!!!!! :wave2:

Midwest Pixie...since you have less than a month, you need to get-going on this basket!:hyper:
Call Melissa at Poly's IPO and tell her what you want to do.
She is wonderful and will assist you in creating a wonderful basket for the SUPRISE!:cloud9:
Do you need the phone number or email?

Debbie....Can you do the marathon weekend?:earseek:

Lots of muffins and other goodies out! help yourselves!

And you got the POLY CL on a "whim"?
I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Pull up a chair and join in on the fun!

Hey there everyone. It is sfbank again. I have posted here once before but haven't for awhile. I know our trip is not until next December but like everyone else here, I am obsessed. KerryCM--glad everything is going well. Can anyone who has been there lately give me ideas on what to expect at the Boardwalk as far as food and things go. How many regular meals do you plan outside the resort?? Can they get ressies for LTT during MVMCP without problems?? Also, if you can give any ideas on don't miss things in December and what resorts are not to miss for decorations, I would appreciate it. Also a welcome from me for new members as I am new here myself!!:D

Bambi, I do have both as we have been in contact once for room request and PS arrangements. Thanks for the info.

We are so excited for this trip! Our youngest is turning 8 and I want everything to be perfect for her.

We've never stayed concierge. As someone who usually takes care of every last detail myself, I just don't want to take advantage.

Thanks again. :teeth:

So here I am, it's almost September and I am planning my December 2005 trip. DH said if we could wait until then to go, and get our finances in ship-shape condition, that we could stay at the GF for a few days before our VWL visit when the rest or our family arrives (15 confirmed and 15 possibles!). The only way I can keep myself going and not use my power for evil to get another trip in before then is to visit the trip reports board and live vicariously through others. I saw Janet2K's report and that made me think GF concierge – ohhhhhh! I back-tracked about 20 pages into this thread but I couldn't find any generic info. Could some kind lizard point me in the right direction for information on:
1. GF room descriptions (we would like a view of the castle but it is just the three of us so we don't need a huge room - we do love a big bath though)
2. What type of food is generally offered (we found that when traveling with our DD that when we don't have access to a kitchen - non-DVC room - that she doesn't eat very well - at the AKL she exsisted on cheese and grapes) We would do character meals for breakfast as well as adult lunches and dinners but do they offer plain sandwiches for lunch or something simple for dinner for her? I found it stressful waiting for her to be served non-healthy "kid menu" choices at the restaurants that she never ate anyway
3. What would be my best bet for a discounted rate? AP? When would I hope to see any discounts come available for that travel window?
4. Finally (and most important) what is a mini wedding cake?!

That's it (for now) so thanks in advance to all those lovely lizards out there and I look forward to joining your ranks soon!

Just wondering about contacting IPO. We are booked AKL/Poly concierge for Feb 2005. It's still a ways off, but I want to contact IPO to get the ball rolling. Do you think it is to early? If I do e-mail them, what should I say? We will be there for DS b'day (3) and I would like to note that on my Poly info as we will be at the Poly on the actual day. I am also thinking about an Illuminations cruise on his b'day (it's a Saturday). Do you think they could help with that ressie (once the 90 day window comes up)? I would also like to maybe have a character breakfast (maybe Pooh in Crystal Palace). But that's about all I have for itinerary. I have a rough idea of which parks we will do on which days, but other than that, no real idea of a plan. Is it worth contacting them? Is it too early? I don't want to be a pain or a "keener". Thanks for any info you can provide.

Alysa,

CaliforniaDreaming has put together a great thread for the Grand Floridian. Here's the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=513609

The GF offers two levels of concierge service. The full is called the Royal Palm Club or RPC and that's located in the main building. Limited service is available in the Sugar Loaf building. If a castle view is important to you, then you're probably going to want to look at the main building. Although it can't be guaranteed, there are about 18 rooms there that have a direct view of the Magic Kingdom. Sugar Loaf overlooks either the marina or the courtyard area.

Food offerings in the morning is deluxe continental. You'll see breads, muffins, bagels, croissants, fruit, yogurt, cereal. Lunch time consists of a light salad, hummus, vegetables. Afternoon tea is scones, cookies, trifle. Dinner is a little more gourmet, but does have cheese, crackers a hot dish and kid friendly items like mini hotdogs and cupcakes. The final offering is the dessert buffet. In the main building, you'll also have a choice of wines with dinner and cordials during the dessert buffet. Sugar Loaf does not serve alcohol and I believe at this time, it still does not serve the dessert buffet. Lemonade, iced tea, coffee, tea and cocoa are available throughout the day.

Wanted to bump this thread up:teeth: Also, haven't been able to get online all day due to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Gaston! This storm came out of nowhere:confused:
PD PLEASE that Frances doesn't do major damage to the East Coast - right now things don't look good:( I'm in Charleston, SC and we had 81 mph gusts this a.m.:duck:
DD is watching Finding Nemo right now :fish: and is in heaven :cloud9: No school tomorrow!!
Hope everyone has had a good weekend as has CL trips coming up SOON:teeth: princess:

johnsonet,
Hoping you're doing okay there with that storm.
Just stopping by, trying to distract myself for this week. My DH works in Manhattan and this Republican convention has me very stressed-Dh was there for 9/11-very close. I'm grabbing a cordial on my way out. Getting ready for my DD to start kindergarten on Thursday! Wishing everyone well-Stacey

P and PD to those in dangerous areas this week! Please stay safe, Johsonset! So glad you were able to check in with us!
Stacey>> Have fun on the first day of kdg! Bring tissues; you'll need them! Just remember, those are happy tears! :)

Dutch'smommy>> Contact IPO sooner rather than later so you can get everything in order. If you lacking for ideas and want more, they can help you there, too!

A big welcome to all of the new lizards! Good thing we had the expansion last week and we have plenty of room for all! How does everyone like the new furniture?:hyper:
