Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Boy, did a storm just roll through here. I'm afraid to go look at my vehicle. We had some pretty big hail.:(

Bonzie1,

I've really enjoyed reading about the party. I've also enjoyed Janet's reports. I still can't believe when I turned and looked and saw Mickey Mouse boating across the water. :D

I remember gearing my outfits around being in the great outdoors. It was FUN!
LOL, Bonzie! You wouldn't believe how many sarongs and hibiscus-print swimsuits I have, thanks to my need to "theme" my clothing at the Poly! Now there's a great reason to try another resort - diversity of wardrobe!

k&a&c'smom it was weird, but I tried to log on in the early evening and kept getting this page with an "anti USA" graphic (and some misspellings) and pictures of bleeding Coca-Cola & Mcdonald's logos & a burning American flag. It didn't appear when I surfed elsewhere, so I assume they somehow hacked into the Dis website.

Janet2k your experience w/Poly is interesting. I had difficulty last fall trying to plan an event with them, had one CM completely drop the ball on me, but another CM came to the rescue and salvaged things, though they were not able to do the type of event had in mind. I wonder if GF is just better suited to handling these things because of their convention planning staff. What office did you work with on your lovely party? A small dinner party would be an ideal way to acknowledge my MIL's arrival in the fall when she joins us at WDW. She doesn't know it yet, but we have also arranged for some of her extended family who live in Tarpon Springs to join us on our trip.

Hi lizzards! We just got back. What a trip! I loved the loung in the Hawaii bldng at the Poly. very nice view and the night time food was very, very good. Our room was nice, ubt I wish we had had a view of the castle, maybe next time. Staff was good, not great. Although we didn't make many requests of them.
I don't think I'm hooked on concierge. I think I need to try it again!
any questions?

fam4jc--Welcome home!! I looked for you, we checked out Friday afternoon. Did you have any trouble with the staff at the Poly? We didn't have any trouble with the concierge staff, although I did notice one young man who worked the desk in the evening always playing with some sort of hand held Palm Pilot that was less than helpful to people who were trying to talk to him. Did you see him? He was there every evening when we were. Everyone we had occasion to ask for assistance was more than helpful. I did notice that we were taking in all but immediately for all the PS arrangements they made for us, including at the RFC where there was a HUGE line even for those with PS.
We too had a garden view room, but spent all our time in the lounge, so it worked out for us. I only sat on our balcony for about 5 minutes one morning.
I am terrible with pictures guys, I haven't had any trouble with the link, but I will keep checking into it.
BT and VAgal are going to have a blast!! I can't wait to hear back from them!

HI Goodferry! I bet we crossed paths and didn't know it! I did see that one staff member several evenings. I wasn't impressed with his demenour or quaiity of his service. Our first afternoon there we had a ps for hdd and he gave us incorrect information and I got upset. He was our first contact with concierge staff other than check in and it was downhill from here. The older lady with the short hair was nice and so was Rene. When we got to animal kingdom on Monday afternoon, the FIRST cast member to be nice to us was Alyia in the bone yard. I told her she was the first person to really "be Disney Nice" to us. No one was outright rude, but that special Disneyish welcome wasn't there. I was speaking to an intern in the gift shop at the Poly. He had only been there a week and was very nice and very happy. I was telling him that maybe my expectations are set too high, but that is part of what Disney is all about - getting special treatment (not upgrades, or free things) treatment that makes you feel good to be in the World. That's why so many of us are so willing to spend sooooo much money for the experience. Anyway, that Disney magic was missing from most of our trip. There were definate high lites and wonderful people, just not as I remember it. (It's been almost 5 years since our last trip). Anyway, that's why I say we need to try concierge again, because I am not sure I gave it a fair shot.

Rene and Kathy were great (short hair, taller lady) The dude with the Palm Pilot got us messed up too. He sent us to the dock instead of the marina for our fireworks cruise and when we asked him if the cruise was cancelled because of the lightening, he said no, when in fact they were, he just didn't check.
He was the only problem we saw, and I just avoided him the rest of the trip.
Rene, Kathy and Tara were all very helpful, along with a tall young man who was new that we saw some mornings, I can't remember his name now.
The lounge staff was very nice to us and our children, remembering to bring them out chocolate milk, getting my husband beer, that sort of thing.
We did run into Brenda from the Dis while we were there (Brendanna) she was in the room across from ours, but that was it.

Makes mental note....AVOID the dude with the Palm pilot!

HI goodferry and fam4jc...WELCOME BACK to the lounge!!!:wave2: :wave2:

Well, I had to fix my counter, it had me leaving a day early!
I wish!

Still haven't packed.....

Oh....I can't wait to be sitting by that fabulous pool with a drinkie.:sunny:

Has anyone heard how Woody made out with her tests today? She's been in my thoughts and prayers... and I'm sure everyone elses.

Don't worry about packing. I might still have a small suitcase packed, but that is a rarity since I usually start packing at 10pm the night before we leave for the airport at 5am! I haven't forgotten anything major, yet. If I do, I'll buy it there!

LOL at your palm pilot dude comment. I was thinking that EXACT same thing, word for word!

I have loved everyone's take on the lounge situation. Thank you for posting, and welcome back!

Debbie

I'm planning on calling her in the morning.
Promise to keep ya'll informed!

Just keep praying for her, gang!

Debbie and BT--At the Poly, along with the Palm Piloter, also watch out for 'Ohana if it rains and the Luau is cancelled. This happened on the evening of our ps and this was the one time we waited a LONG time for our table.
Also watch for a cm from Bell Services named Eb, he looks just like Morgan Freeman and he is the BEST!!! He brought us to our room on the first day and talked to us as we loaded everything up on our last, he was terrific, the kids loved him.
Another warning, the towel natzi at the hair wrapping hut will not give you a towel without a room key, even if you give her a room number. This ordinarily wouldn't have mattered to us, since I understand that pool hopping is an issue for the Poly, but our daughter had knocked her head very hard in the pool and was crying hysterically and the woman would not help my husband out with a towel because he didn't have a key and she did not believe they "had a building named Hawaii" This was unfortunate since it was really our only bad experience in a wonderful week, and it happened on our last day.
I too have been wondering about Woody and hoping everything is alright.:(

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I haven't been in touch since the 8th but I've been "dealing" with my doc results. My MRI results came back and I am not a Happy camper (like "I've" ever camped:rolleyes: ).....

I have torn my right knee to shreds and it keeps dislocating whenever it moves, or rather, I move. Would you believe I still walk on it - I just deal with the pain. Anyhow, surgery is scheduled for next month. The good news is, I have the head of Ortho operating from one of the best ortho hospitals. The bad news, well, I have a really bad allergy to almost every anesthesia around, so it's going to be a "fun" experience for everyone in the O.R.::eek: :scared:

I've enjoyed catching up on everyone's posts and the BBQ sounds great!

Bambi - have a fab time and make sure you don't have "helmet hair" from the rides (courtesy of Steel Magnolias) - I'm another Southern Belle!

VaGal - hope you have a great time too.

It looks like I won't be headed back to the World till next year. Boo Hoo

WOODY - you're still in my prayers.

Fellow-Lizardss you are THE BEST! Thank you for all your kind words and prayers.

Bambi-- I'm not a regular on this thread; I've only popped in a couple of times. I saw your countdown timer on another thread; I just wanted to wish you a safe and magical trip (I figured that you come here most often). I read your kind posts on other threads that I read regularly , and I think you are a genuine sweetie, IMVeryHO :).

To everyone else, have a great night!

:wave2:

Hi everyone!!!!!

I just got off the phone with Tamby and I had to post right away!!! I had a late appt. today and now's the first chance I've had to write!!!!

The reason Tamby had asked all of you to keep the P and PD coming is b/c my situation became a bit unusual. I had been numb all week and found it difficult to post but I truly appreciate all your kind words and overwhelming support.

I DID miscarry the Saturday before last. When I went in for my last week's Mon. appt., however, the Dr. saw a fetus. I actually miscarried a twin. I went from Sat. to Mon. having no hope and then I found out I was still pregnant! I was classified as a threatened miscarriage with this baby b/c of all the heavy bleeding. However, I made it until today's appt. The baby grew dramatically and there was a nice strong heartbeat. It just seems like a miracle to us!!! Everything seems just fine!!

You all have been a lifeline to me. I appreciate every single caring post and thoughtful words. I wish I could thank you all personally. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough.

mmausse>>>>>>I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. I hope all turns out well with the surgery. P and PD to you!

BambiTamby>>>>>Have a FABULOUS time. I know I speak for everyone when I say that we can't wait to hear from you upon your return!!!! Hugs to you!

VAgal>>>>>You're not far behind....YIPPEE!!! You must be so excited!

To those who recently returned.....I can't wait to catch up on your reports! I'm sure your trips were absolutely "magical". Welcome back!!!!

Have a great night all!!!! Let's "talk" tomorrow!!!!!

WoodysRoundup, what wonderful news (I am so happy for you)! God Bless you and your family.:D

For those of you who have just returned from WDW, get cracking on your trip reports (like I have any room to talk)!

For those of you heading to WDW soon (BT, VAgal, and probably a few lurkers), have magical vacations. And make sure you write your trip reports upon your return. Please!

I'm SOOOO Happy for you Woody!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

And thank you for your prayers. You are right, everyone here is a god send and I wish I could meet you all in person!

But perhaps, I have, through our love of the Mouse and his world...:jester: After all, doesn't the thought of Disney - a song from one of the movies, one of the characters, or a special trip to the WOrld or LKand, just bring a smile to your face. So it's sort of like 6 degrees of separation....sort of.

I digress....must be the meds.

Thanks everyone and congrats Woody!

WoodysRoundup, I still can't get over your news. It's just fantastic!

Since I am so new to this thread, I haven't found the time yet to read all of its pages. So, for those of you who are also experiencing sad times, my prayers are with you and your families. God Bless you all.

Steveanddonna, thank you so much for sharing your Poly experience. You don’t know how much I appreciated what you had to say. It’s such a shame that neither you nor I could plan something a little out of the ordinary at that fine resort. But, luckily for us, there are other resorts that can accommodate us. As to the Grand Floridian and my recent dinner party, I just began writing about the pre-planning aspect of it in my trip report. If you take a peek at it, you’ll see that I was put in touch with their Convention Services folks. Those folks handled everything for me. If you decide to go that route for your Fall vacation, please keep me posted. I would love to hear what you plan.

Heading to bed, but just had to say....WoodysRU so relieved and happy for you! Take care of yourself, and get plenty of rest! That's so wonderful!! :Pinkbounc

BT and VAgal - Have a wonderful trip!!!
