I have some questions for all you Poly Lizards.... I am an early riser (yes even on vacation:rolleyes: ), I see that the lounge doesn't open until 7:00am. Should I get a coffee maker for the room? Do you still have access to sodas and water even if it is not officially open yet? Also, does the lounge area have a balcony that one can sit out on? (If I let my fellow roommates sleep in, I like to sit outside and watch the sun come up...etc...and if my room doesn't have a balcony (2nd floor), I am trying to figure out what I will want need to do.)

I can't answer the question about when coffee is ready in the morning but I'm betting its ready before the whole buffet is out. The lounge does not have a balcony but does have nice couch. You could always go to the beach and sit on the swing or table at the pool.

Debbie - Tell your DS "Way to go!!!!" from the lizards here. My DS last day of school was today. He "was" in 2nd grade, but it seems like just yesterday I was riding the bus with him for Kindergarten orientation.....where do the days go?

k&a&c'smom - That's wonderful news that you got to extend your stay! I bet your DD will be thrilled to spend her birthday at WDW. :teeth:

I don't know why on earth I'm still at work, but I am about to leave to go birthday shopping and it looks like a big storm is coming. I hope the sun is shining nicely where you guys are this evening...especially for you Debbie since you're heading out to graduation.

Woodysroundup - You are still very close to my heart, dear. Keeping you in prayer for healing.

I'll :chat: with you guys later!

Oh, yes, in my excitement I forgot to add: Woody, sweetie, thinking of you and your family, I know you're gonna get a good report on Monday.

Big Wave to everybody in the lounge! Thanks, VAgal & luckywife, for the warm wishes! I will definitely let you know how we like the WL - I'm hoping I have better success than poor Fred did, trying a new resort!:sunny:

Hi Everyone! I am home! We had a great trip, I promise a trip report in the morning (well maybe afternoon). The Poly was great, everything we hoped and more! I haven't read through this thread yet, so I hope everyone is doing well. I have a mountain of laundry the size of the Tree of Life, so once I get it going I will report in.
Cajun Fan--I did see your post, they did have the coffee ready by 7am, there was soda available all the time and you could sit in the lounge anytime, it wasn't locked. The water etc., however, was not left out.
Goodnight!

Thanks for the info Goodferry and LovesDumbo. I appreciate your quick responses!

Welcome back Goodferry! I was hoping to run into you last Friday and kept looking for your red hair that you told me about but never did spot you. I am SO glad to hear that you had a good time, we did too! I just loved the Poly and have been missing it since we got home. Can't wait to hear all about your trip.
#1hockeymom helped me with my laundry when I got back so pass some of yours this way and I'll do a few loads for you! ;)

Like nice bags and shoes....(and all ACCESSORIES!)~you can NEVER have too many! So...I ordered the darned book! If nothing else, I ADORE the photo on the cover. :rotfl:

#1hockeymom~Oh, Deb...that's AWESOME NEWS! Congrats to both of your children, and the fine job you OBVIOUSLY do as a parent. It's pure MAGIC when all the stars align, and everything seems to "fall into place" without any glitches! Enjoy this time together.

Woodysroundup~You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. :goodvibes

k&a&c'smom~KUDOS to you for extending your WDW visit through DD's BD! :cheer2: :cake: This trip marks the third time we have done this with DD, and she LOVES it. :love2: I bought her another "early" gift a couple days ago (Paul Frank Dr. Scholls...too cute) with JULIUS the monkey:

I told her I won't have any gifts for her by the time her BD rolls around (not true...but I have to SAVE some surprises!), if I continue this early-gifting. She smiled and said, "Mom...WDW is Enough of a gift for me. Besides, last September, you bought me a $--,000.00 Car! That's more than I ever imagined, and enough of a gift for all the years to come." I could have CRIED. :D She's a wonderful young woman, and takes nothing for granted. :cloud9:

VAgal76~May I join~in as well? My name is DF99...and I'm a relentless, hopeless...SUITEAHOLIC! :grouphug: :jumping1:

HAPPY SATURDAY L.L.!!

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes and congratulations to both of my children! I am very proud of both of them and last night's ceremony and our dinner after went w/o a hitch!

DF>> Your post just brought smiles to my face! I love the line about accessories! We were just discussing that at dinner last night after DD's graduation! I have no idea how our extended family of 6 became 13 people, but all had a great time and my CC can sort it out later! It was nice to sit back with my glass of wine, watch the smiles and realize "Hey, life is good! I might have just moved up a generation, but we can do this!" To bring this back to the subject, DD is deciding between a coach *family favorite, can't have too many! LOL* or an LV purse as the second part of her present from us.

Those Dr. Scholls are so cute! I haven't seen those around here!

Woody'sroundup>>Continues P and PD and great hope for good news coming soon! Put your feet up, relax, and we'll get you what you would like from the concierge delicacies!

KAC'smom>> That is WONDERFUL news! I have been trying to do the same thing. I am just stuck in a rut over paying the "changing" fee. I should just pay it, but it is the point of it. If the flight is cheaper I feel they should just throw the "change flight" fee out the window! I am sure I'll get over it!

Goodferry>> Can't wait for a full report! Throw that laundry in and get typing! :) (please please pretty please!)

Big wave to ALL of the lounge lizards! You're all a wonderful group of people!

Debbie

goodferry, Welcome Home! I am glad to hear that the Poly was wonderful! I can't wait for your trip report (laundry is such a bummer!). :)

DF, those shoes for your DD are too cute! She sounds like a wonderful daughter who is truly appreciative to me! ::yes::

DF - LOL! DD and I just went shopping and got some cute summer things for her, all on sale, thank goodness!;) Those sandals are really cute, DD had to shop for riding boots and of course we couldn't help it but to get her some really cute Sketchers sandals, I'm not a good picture person or I'd post!:teeth: Trying to get CRT for DD's b'day breakfast, keep your fingers crossed!::yes::

goodferry - Welcome home, can't wait to hear all about your trip!!

Debbie - Luckily, we were booked on SW, so there was no change in fare - that is a bummer if they are gonna take away your savings by charging a fee to change! Glad to hear you had such a good time at DD's graduation!:sunny:

Hi, everybody!!:thewave:

I can't believe We've been back 2 weeks, and this is ths first I'll be posting on the party... shame on me! You've already read Floridafam's posts and seen Janet's GLORIOUS pictures (dosen't she do a wonderful job!) I can only echo the praises you've read so far... wonderful, magic, detail, fun, delicious, melt in your mouth food, and most of all... friendship,.

Originally, my DH + I had planned to go to the DVC Member Homecoming. We were hoping to hook up with Janet2k and her family. Well, this "hook-up" was more than a mozie up to the corral. In fact, it was much more than a barbeque! It was definitely an EVENT, and I must say, for us, this event topped all 3 days of the DVC Member Homecoming combined! Thank-you Janet!

There were many elements of surprise packed into the evening. This first came at check in for us. We arrived just 5 hours before the party, and of course, as all women are, I was already planning everything I had to do to get checked in and over to the GF! The CM checking us in to POFQ pulled up our reservation, and then said in a rather loud voice, "OH... Oooooh!" Then she left us standing at the counter and went into the back room! Now we had no idea what was going on. Yes, we've had problems at check in before, and thought, "Now what? We have to get ready to go to the party. I hope we can check in without incident!"

Well, the CM came back and said NOTHING! I asked, is anything wrong? She replied' "Oh no, there's just something in the back for you and all of us were admiring it, and wondering who it belongs to... Now we know... It's very large and we'll deliver it."

Still puzzled, we went to our room (It was ready right away (yea!). After unpacking, the mystery delivery still hadn't arrived, so we went back to the front desk to pick it up ourselves (can you tell, I'm impatient???). Of course, they had just sent it out, and didn't have it, so, we went back to our room, still wondering what could this be???

We opened the door, and there on the round table was our surprise! It was a BIG, beautiful picnic basket filled with Italian bread (about 2 feet long!), cheeses, huge juicy oranges, apples and bananas. They even supplied 2 big bottles of water, knives and forks, 4 big napkins and containers to hold your food selections. As Floridafam wrote, there was a rolled up personalized invitation inside printed on picnic background paper, and written in Mickey's handwriting. It was tied with a red ribbon with a beautiful bow. Being hungry from our trip, we tore into the contents and filled ourselves up! Oh, another thing. Our gift basket was lined with a red and white checked tablecloth. On first glance, I thought it was a big napkin, but when I went to pack up to go home, I took it out of basket and saw it was a picnic spread table cloth. Just like the ones you would pack to put down on the ground as you spread out all your goodies. I hope to get a picture to Janet this weekend, so she can include it in her photo album.

This was just the first of many surprises that night. Magic was in the air...

bonzie1,

I love your report. Wasn't that basket beautiful? :D

You're correct. The BBQ was an EVENT.

I can't wait to read more. :sunny:

 I have started to try to catch up on all that went on while I was away, whew, y'all were busy.
Woody'sRU, I thought of you on the trip, I hope all goes well Monday.
I hope to do a full trip report, or start one, Sunday morning, we have had a parade of visitors wanting to hear about the trip (the laundry is moving very slowly!) I did want to let you know that the kids were very excited when we told them. Our original plan was to let them think we were going to Pittsburgh to stay in a hotel for the weekend and relax, and then tell them when we got to the airport about Disney. As we were getting ready to leave, I told them we were going to a hotel near Ikea because they were having a big sale (they dread trips to Ikea, I love to torture them). Well, the five-year-old started crying, then DH felt bad and we told them. They flipped out, they were so excited. The crying immediately stopped and we had a ball.
If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer them. We did get a stretch limo from FL Tours and they were great, went off without a hitch. We stayed the the Poly CL, where everyone was fantastic and the other guests were great. We saw no bad behaviour and no lounge hogs at all. We did the Princess Breakfast in MK, Cinderella Ball at the GF, Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, Whispering Canyon, RFC at AK, and more that I can't remember right now.
The food was great our whole trip and my husband is totally addicted, said he won't go back unless we stay concierge again. We did visit the BC one evening, and I am willing to bet we split our next stay, they loved it before they even saw the pool, then it was all over when we got to SAB!! We would definitely stay at the Poly again next time, it was great!

Goodferry-so glad you and your family had a great trip. We loved the Poly too and can't wait to go back. Think our next trip we'll be splitting our stay between there and WL concierge. DH LOVED CL! He was always going up to the lounge to just hang out. It's really a terrific place. ::yes::

goodferry - Sounds like you guys had a great trip! Don't you just love that lounge at the Poly?! Beautiful view!::yes::

I need help!! - I'm torn! DD and I were talking today, and we are now thinking of changing our res. from WL to the Poly! I don't know what to do - I'm not sure we can even get the Poly at the AP rate, but we're not sure if we'll love WL - I'm getting nervous! What do you guys think?!

k&a&c'smom,

I've never been a big Poly fan but I would make the switch. We enjoy WL but they are just missing something. The rooms are bigger at the Poly unless you are in a suite at WL.

When are you going? If you are going this summer, I would stay at the Poly and save WL for a Winter trip.

Just my opinion.

Ohhh...."accessories"...a FAVORITE word around here! DD ALSO loves (& collects) bags! She has some of the cutest designer styles, (all genuine), and has her heart set on another for her BD. I already ordered it. It's so cute...and kind of looks like a HIDDEN MICKEY in this little pic!!
IT54.jpg

There are SO many cute styles/colors...I "want" to buy all of them!!
(www.dooney.com), from the train case to the It pocket zip...I LOVE them all! I bought DD the IT tassle bag (mint green) for Christmas...it's just adorable. It's tough being a girl, eh? :p
I bought the shoes @ Nordstrom's (the only store carrying them!). They have them available online as well. ::yes::
Your daughter is not only highly intelligent...she has FABULOUS taste~!!:teeth: Enjoy your weekend!

ead79~Thanks for the VERY kind words.

k&a&c'smom~Boy! You brought back memories for me!! I used to go shopping with my DM for Jodhpurs, Coats and and boots for riding too (Hunt/Jump seat). What FUN it was...showing, training, etc. :hyper:
My daughter just bought some Sketchers sandals too. They are summer style, with Pineapples on some and little palm trees on the others. They are cloth, and VERY comfy! Are your daughter's similar? DD wears them when she plays STEEL DRUMS. She has a GIG this eve (A big upscale Grad party at a nearby estate), and will wear them as she plays for four hours! ;)

goodferry~Great POST! Sounds like you enjoyed a wonderful time together! :goodvibes

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

:wave2: Just popping into the Lounge to say "hi"!

DF and HM ~ ACCESSORIES???!!! I love accessories but I live in a male dominated house --- no daughter :( so I can't share my love of accessories particularly purses... and I love shoes, too.

Hoping to use my spg points for CL at the Dolphin in July! :hyper:

k&a&c'smom... just my thoughts on WL and the Poly...

My DH + I just loved the Poly... the all around atmosphere, the tiki torches at night, watching the fireworks from the beach (or from our room), walking around the lagoon past the wedding pavilion to the GF... just perfect. We've stayed in a regular room at WL at Christmas time which was nice too... never did concierge there though.

Concierge at the poly was great. They put us in the King Kamehameha Suite (sp?) That was a lot of fun. Of course the concierge when we went was in a different building, the walk wasn't far, and the food was excellent.

It's nice to have such tough choices though...

Have fun deciding!

floridafam & bonzie1 - Thanks for the words of wisdom!! DD and I have been looking over the pictures of WL, and we still can't decide - I may just follow Woody's lead, and if we get there and aren't thrilled, move!::yes:: We do loooove the Poly, but we've been wanting to try WL, I guess if we don't try it we'll always wonder. Oh, what to do! One thing that will decide it, if I work up the nerve to call CRO and there are no discounted rooms available!

DF - DD is not doing the English riding, there aren't any trainers in our area. She is doing Western Pleasure class (I think this is the term, not an expert!;) ) and I have a sneaking suspicion she's planning on getting a horse! One of her friends has extra room at her farm, I think they are plotting against me!:chat:

Very cute purses!! And, I think your DD has the same sandals as mine - white and varying shades of khaki stripe on the sole, with khaki cloth uppers with a cute little palm tree and a bit of fringe, like old cut-offs! Sound familiar?!:teeth:
