Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Storybookmum: Good for you! I am a huge fan of the occassional vacation without the kids. Hubby & I will be taking our 3rd one this December. Its almost like another Honeymoon & does wonders for keeping our relationship "fresh". Also, we are able to experience 2 different Disney Vacations since we do different things by ourselves versus when we bring the girls.

WL is his dream resort...I'll pay careful attention, after we get back from this trip and have had a peek, to see if their CL IPO gets its act together, and then try to get it!!

So far they have gotten everything in "order" for our WL December trip!
The WL/Poly IPO have some newbies...one is a very sweet gal, Sarah, who is a very quick learner, acoording to Melissa (who is working on our planning!)
And the Poly CL's new manager will be named this week.
Plus, Daisy will be returning to the WL CL. :)
We are looking forward to our return to the WL CL....been many years!
Like the AKL, you walk into the huge lobby and all your senses become filled....the music, the smell, the sounds of a creek making it's way to the pool, the artwork.....WOW! :teeth:

And the added treat! No teens on this trip!:bounce:
(ergo, we'll have more $$$ instead of feeding the video machines at the arcade!)

speaking of kids...poooohbear!You were just getting married in August 2001! How many little ones do ya'll already have?::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

:grouphug: to all! And lots of ~*~*~*~*~*~ for recovery, prayers, and positive thoughts as we start a new week!

Lots of fresh muffins, bagels, croisants, yogurts, fruits, cereals, smoothies, juices, and Kenyan coffee presses out on the sideboard.!:sunny:

Have a DISney day!

BambiTamby,

I'm anxious to hear all about your WL CL trip after it happens.

It looks like we are headed back there in May. I wanted CR but DH has to be closer to FW.:(

Have a great day everyone!

storybookmum...we're in Idaho...nestled in the plain between Sun Valley/Ketchum and Jackson, WY...about 70 miles south of Yellowstone...mountains to the right...mountains to the left...mountains to the south...mountains to the north....yup...they're every where!! *L* It's cold this morning, only around 20 degrees farentheit...

Oh well, "Hi-ho, hi-ho...it's off to work I go"....

Later gators>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hello LL's  ,

We got back last night and boy am I tired!

Kerry I enjoyed getting to meet you. I wish that there had been more time to sit and talk, but with the family I am constantly in motion.

You guys were so right about the staff at the Innkeeper's Club. My husband and I were really impressed with all of the staff. We got to meet Jackie, Robin, Laura, Don, Scott, Delma, Steve, Lorenzo, and a host of others who I am sorry to say I can't remember their names. If you guys are reading this  and thanks. See you in a few weeks.

We were in room #4240 the first night and got to move to #4225, which is a deluxe, the next day. The Boardwalk view was spectacular. I had concerns about the noise from the Boardwalk, but it was surprisingly quiet with the doors shut.

I didn't get to see nearly as much of Disney as I wanted to this trip because the 3 yr old decided he was scared of everything and only wanted to go to the "hotel". So I spent quite a bit of time in the lounge and room watching movies.

My consolation is that we are going to Disney Dec 5-12 for a couples only trip with my brother and sis-in-law. The best part is that hubby told me to upgrade from CBR to BWI concierge so that I would be more comfortable. Yeah! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I have lots more to tell, but I must get the clothes unpacked and the groceries put away.

Thanks again for all of your great advice in planning this trip. Everyone leaving soon have a magical trip.

desiab,

Sounds like you had a great trip and you get to go back very shortly!

Glad you had a good time.:D

Desiab - Welcome back! You had such a great time, DH is setting you guys up for the couples only outing. Swwweeettt! BWI does sound wonderful. One of these days (I hope sooner than later) I will finally be able to sip Bailey's while munching on a sweet delectable in the Innskeeper Lounge. :D Can't wait to hear more on your trip.

BT - Haven't forgotten you, I haven't been able to catch up to BIL. :o Yeah, I agree with Floridafam - waiting with baited breath to see how WL visit turns out.

I need to update my sig - we're letting go of the 1 bdrm at GF for 2 bdrm 14th floor at CR! I already played peek-a-boo with BT's photos. I'm hoping the Pres. suite at CR will come open before we go, but with a conference in town I think the Pres. suites are booked at many of the deluxes, but the VP's are open in case anyone is interested. ;) Not much price difference between my 2 bdrm and Pres suite so I'm thinking why not if does come available since there is a VERY slim chance at a discount on any of the suites on that floor. We have GF taste with a POP budget frame of mind, don't we? - LOL! How are the offerings on the 14th floor? Do they have cookies, gummy worm type snacks for the kiddos? I saw some pics of the hot appetizer and all I can say is "YUM."

While we are at CR it will be my MIL's b-day. I'm thinking a floral arrangement and arranging balcony cake and ice-cream celebration while viewing Wishes (supposedly have a guaranteed MK view with this room per CRO) or an Illuminations cruise aboard the Breathless. We may be catching the early Cirque show that day (6 pm). I'm guessing we'll be out of there by 8:00 pm and catching a cab back to where ever. Am I cutting it too short? How long does the Cirque show last? Maybe I should can the cruise and go with the balcony b-day celebration instead. It might be a bit harried to rush her off for a cruise right after show. What's your thoughts?

I LOVE, LOVE the Wishes party idea! I think it would really be making the most of your suite and your resort and would be the most fun while also the least hectic, IMO. Good luck! Your MIL will be blown away:teeth:
Your plans sound so exciting!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

desiab Wow! Your trip - and upcoming plans - sound fantastic!

I am sooo excited! I just booked 8 nights at AKL during DD's Spring Break. We've never spent more than 5 nights at one resort. I booked a regular Savanna view room at the rate of $206/night plus tax with the Winter Resort Offer. Rack rate is $370 during Peak Season so I feel I got a bargain. Maybe I'll get the chance to upgrade to CL later on; also considering splitting our stay with BWI CL ...:teeth: but wanted to go ahead and lock in a room - PLUS I'm not sure if we'll ask someone to join us or not...:teeth: If it's just the two of us, I *gasp* may forego Concierge...

Still not sure what I'm doing for my birthday (the big 3-5!!) in February. What I'd LIKE to do is get the Royal Asante or Kuba Suites and invite a few close friends and do the Sunset Safari on my birthday::yes:: :teeth: We shall see...

Have a nice afternoon, everyone:wave:

Oooh, Liz, that's great, congratulations! I hope it's marvellous for you!

Lizards, I'm looking for restaurant opinions. FIL wants to change our PS for Teppanyaki Grill because he found out it isn't covered by the DDE card. That's okay, it's not a huge deal, we can try to have lunch there or something after they leave, and if we don't, well, DH and I had fabulous teppanyaki on our honeymoon (mental note to consider cancelling the scapbooking die cut of the Japanese pavillion).

So ANYWAY, that leaves us with a choice of the DDE Epcots or a jaunt over to Boardwalk or Beach Club....

The DDE Epcots are:

Biergarten (I'm not keen on the idea, know the ILs love it)
Bistro de Paris
Chefs de France
Coral Reef
Alfredo di Roma
Le Cellier
Nine Dragons (ain't happening)
Akhershus (uh-uh)
Marrakesh (I'd love to, don't think anyone else would be willing)
Rose & Crown (try for Illuminations? But now we're only 37 days out....)
San Angel (never again)
Garden Grill

So, ladies, what's your vote? I'm off to check the menus.....I'd been considering Le Cellier anyway, so we might end up there. Coral Reef beckons, do you think my girls would lose their minds? Anyone have pictures?

All the Epcot restaurants sound so.....buttery. I feel a dairy deprivation coming on as they fix us something utterly boring that doesn't make the menu; poor Meredith and I will be staring at other people's moose desserts and whimpering....

Any input welcome!

Kris

Good luck to everyone trying to get on the 14th floor. I want to try it soon. It seems like it would be very convenient for a family with little ones just to hop on the monorail.

I don't think I'm going to forgive myself for giving up a 14th floor concierge room at a discount a few weeks ago.

The more I think about it, I'd love to see WL CL go through a big change. They could update some of the rooms and suites on the 7th floor, possibly create a lounge somewhere, maybe include the deluxe rooms in the CL category.

They could charge more for all I care. I'd rather have it move up to the level of AKL CL and pay a few more bucks.

Anyway, just a thought.

Have a good evening everyone!

hmmmmm......I love the Marrakesh, Chefs is excellent (although the staf can be a tad snotty), haven't eaten at Le Cellier since they changed it, Coral Reef is fun....but go for tea and dessert, not a fan of Garden Grill...does that cover it?

Sooooooo fellow lounge lizards I think you'll have to formally adopt me. I have posted on another site, for a number of years, and am so tired of trying to defend why I stay in concierge. I feel like an elitist snob! *shaking my head*....Ya' know it's my money....why should I not spend it the way we want? They just don't understand.....silly people.

Valerie told me that they would be building a concierge lounge early next year....change is on the way.

GoofySuse,

That's great news about WL!! They really have the potential to be a very cozy, nice and relaxing club level.

*big room wave* and showing goofysuse her name tag on the wall where her coat gets hung. See? You DO belong!

Funeral is over, tears aren't. I do have good news though. We didn't take first, but we took SECOND in the tournament! We totally fell apart during the finals game. Went from scores like 14-0/8-0/7-1/8-1 to LOSING! ACK! It was a great weekend, and great to get out of here. OK, I admit it. There is a bar at this rink (there usually isn't), and I was there OFTEN before our game would start. Can't beat an absolute bloody mary (extra olives!) for a hockey game snack! We played teams from both the Detroit area and the Chicago area. Our boys did extremely well, so well that a few coaches thought they were in the wrong league. Had to show them that not only were they in the right league, but most of them are first year PeeWee!

Ok, that is my happy news.. and I love reading everyone else's news from the world and their travel plans! I am going to try to play catch up at home, then catch up on the boards! Have a great night, everyone! (and thank you SO SO MUCH for being there for me when I needed to rant and carry on. It meant a lot to me to have the thoughts and messages rain down. I do believe in the power of prayer to heal both the soul, and body.

Debbie

Debbie: I'm just catching up...sorry about your daughter's friend. What a terrible, terrible loss....

I'm sorry the team didn't do as well as you hoped, but there's always next year!! My daughter was a nationally ranked swimmer....swim meets are parent abuse...what I wouldn't have done for a bar close at hand! Lucky you!!!!!

Thanks for the name tag....I have a home.....homemade oyster stew anyone?????

Suse

Debbie - Hey, second is still great! Tell those boys they did fantastic (although I'm sure you already did that). Seems like you can use some more of these -. Tough weekend being sad and happy at the same time.

GoofySuse - They are looking at creating an actual lounge at WL?! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I can't wait! :Pinkbounc I agree with Floridafam, they need to update their rooms and at least have the option of concierge with the deluxe rooms. Hello, anyone out there from WDW management reading this? Hello?

Oh, we'll be happy over second! THe competition was tremendous. We didn't play our game, it happens. Second is still wonderful! (ok, so the boys don't think so, but ten bucks says they'll NAP when we say nap next time!) This is the only arena I've played at with a "working" bar during a youth hockey game. Gotta love that! No drinks in the stands, but you can have one before the game, or bailey's/coffee afterwards and still watch some hockey below you on the ice! I'd go crazy with glass between me and the game for "our" game, so I'm always in the stands when that is going on. Maybe we'll start a petition for club lounges at all youth sports? :)

:wave2:  :wave2:  Room wave!!

I just can't seem to get myself well. First my ankle, now a migraine. Ouch.

Big time congrats! Sharon! What a treat to win that cruise! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Woody My DD had so many ear infections when she was younger. I was told she was "profoundly deaf" and it wouldn't get any better. Well the child hears better than I do. :duck: I'm hoping that you will get good news too as he gets older. Hang in there Woody!!

minniesota What a fab trip. I love the flag ceremony. Sweet! :cheer2:

sfbank Are your docs looking to low sodium??? One of my co-workers had a seisure, scared us to pieces. Low sodium...:flower3:

desaib Great trip. Good use of the lounge! And yeah for your next trip. :flower3:

The next 7 weeks are going to be a blur. I go away this weekend on my annual "girls only" trip, then the election. (I didn't think I would ever miss the ED, acid refux and cold medicine ads as much as I do. I live in a "battleground" state and the political ads are just plain nasty)

I also have to plan and hold my DGS's birthday bash (he'll be 1), cook Thanksgiving, I have a trip to New York City, I have to plan and attend the job's holiday party.
:crazy2: :crazy2:

I want to be in Dinsey!!! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Oh, BTW, Dec 20 is the Monday! The discount is still in effect! He can stay at AKL!! Yeah! I was in a tissy for nothing... :scared:

And a little information about AKL.... the deluxe rooms.. do they sleep five?? How do you get one?? Are the deluxe rooms only CL??

Well, I've got to go.
:wave2:   :wave2:
