Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

I am so excited about my concierge service already! After researching for about a month and reading about how to book PS reservations for the Royal Castle Breakfast and putting reservations on my speed dial (you all know the routine!) and such I thought maybe I should give the concierge a call. We're going to be there for a week including Valentine's Day, which is our wedding anniversary, and it's hard to book something anywhere in the country much less WDW - now the lovely Lauren is taking care of booking for us in the Castle for breakfast on Valentine's morning plus dinner at the Artists Pointe, and Hoop Dee Doo and Perfectly Princess Tea Party during our stay. I'm going cross-eyed reading this great forum and so happy that it looks like I made the right choice going concierge after reading what a great time you all are having. I'm loving it in advance!

Oh, and thank you, Fred, for your candor....I'll have a chat with DH about it and see what he thinks.

DutchsMommy, I hope you're right about POR! I think the problem is, it's the resort that fell into the middle of my plans, not one we chose. We were going to stay at the cabins, but couldn't get the discount, and my IL's didn't want to stay at rack rate (neither did I, really). So POR was all that was available, and we moved there. Then we decided on two AKL nights once the ILs move on, and so poor POR is just the place in the middle of what we really wanted. Still, it's Disney, and I'm sure it's going to be great. The pool looks beautiful, too!

MNTerri, what beautiful plans you have, and how lovely to have IPO taking care of everything! The castle on Valentines, ooooh! That'll be really special.

I drew the line at the Princess party, but I confess to a little envy!

I'll PM you my cell number before the trip and we'll make a "date" for ice cream or somethingie!::yes::
...
Goofy's Muse...."Oh, what a tangled web..." I'm still  over that one! What a neat suprise you and Joe have planned! I LOVE it!:charac4:

Need to learn that lesson about responding when I FIRST read a post -- it's mighty tricky wading backward in this happenin' thread to find a past post! Yes, BambiTamby, we WILL need to plan a rendezvous. Methinks our "real counter" (you know... the "hidden one") is at around 50 days!

:confused3 So imagine my surprise to read kind condolences from VAGal and storybookmum regarding the cancellation of GoofyJoofy's rooms at WL! No cancellation for us, you guys!! I think Goofy was calling attention to another post in case a fellow Lizard was looking for a potential 'fix'! We're holding firm at GF for December (non-CL... shhh).

Sometimes I think I'm just not cut out for this stealth planning though. This is SO not us, planning a trip during the height of the pre-holiday season and taking the kids out of school even for just a couple of days. We must have been crazed! :earseek: Can't decide if the kids will look like this :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: OR this  :worried: :faint: once we tell them...

I have a nine year old daughter and already bought her dresses (for Christmas - so no telling;) ) she knows she's a princess! A special mom and daughter time.

Just figured with all the Lizards that wish they could get away....here is a golden oportunity to try WL CL!

Well, THAT was confusing enough!! I'm positively delighted you're holding firm (and still craving those CL dates at WL)....it's so easy to get confused over where everyone will be staying....GF for the GoofyFamily!!! Got it!!

LOL,

Kris

samnbilly What sad, sad news. I am so sorry for your poor friend, her family and also for you. I hope she will be ok and that you will be able to feel ok about going away...what a tough situation
:( :worried:

STORYBOOKMUM: Don't feel bad I can't figure out the picture thing either. But I will be the one with my DH-60 ish, DS-25 (6'2") and DGS-10 (that looks like a small version of the ROCK) Myself will have on a black Mickey backpack with a lime green tag. We are sooooooo looking forward to the Sunrise Safari.:wave2:

... prayers for your good friend, samnbilly, and for all others in need tonight...

... and storybookmum... just to offer another perspective... the Goofy's were all fans of Chef Mickey's for dinner. We actually loved the goings-on even after a long hot day at MK, and still had enough energy after dinner to close MK with the SpectroMagic and Wishes. The kids were fans of the ribs (and of course, mac 'n cheese) and were especially happy since we'd missed rib night at Boma. And of course, they loved the desserts -- highlights were sundaes and a chocolate mousse cake with white chocolate Mickey wafers propped up in each slice (took pictures of that one...) We had multiple visits from the characters, too, and it was our first actual encounter with Mickey himself as well as Donald. Characters rated highly in our kids' experience this summer and I was glad we had that opportunity with Mickey since it was our last night...

samnbilly, so sorry to hear about your friend. You will all be in my prayers.

Goofysmuse, if you need to refer to a counter, feel free to use mine. We're actually going to be there the same exact dates as your family. We'll be flying out of Boston in the evening on 12/9. Two of my kids will be missing school on Friday & Monday and unfortunately oldest DD has finals that week at college, so she can't make it. It's a surprise for my family also and I'm barely hanging on to it. Everytime they have a bad day, I just want to blurt it out. I haven't decided how or when I'm going to tell their teachers. I'll probably just send in a note with my youngest. She's 3rd grade. DS is in 9th grade, so I'm thinking that I'll just call him in sick for those 2 days.

Hugs for everyone.

Tammi

leave out some fresh Krispy Cremes to put in your tummies before bed tonight. (DH picked up a box at the train station before boarding his train after work tonight). :D

momrules... Welcome home!!! SO, how did you "convert" DH??? Just the food and beer alone, huh?? Good for you!!!!

samnbilly.... What a terribly sad story about your dear friend. I am so truly sorry for you. Lots of P and PD coming to you and her from this Lizard. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing. Be kind to yourself right now.

DD's b-day party was a success. She just loved her special day. Thanks again for all the well wishes.

That's all for now. Have a great night....time for bed for me!!! :wave2:

Why thanks, TammiMcMan, you are sweet! I'm thinkin' it may have been one of your lovely posts that convinced me that GF would be our next spot to try, especially for the holidays. Though I am very fond of the Epcot area, too -- so may resorts, so little time! :smooth:

I'm not sure why the school thing should have me so rattled. The kids are good students and rarely if ever miss school for anything. Go figure, though... for some reason this year I seem to be highly tuned into what's sounding more-and-more like a no tolerance for absence policy.
:rolleyes1 Oh well... I guess worrying about that will keep me from worrying about whatever potential weather disaster could hit in December up here. Yikes! What was I thinking!! Yup... the kids'll definitely think we've flipped!! :upsidedow

:confused3 aaarrrggghhhh can't believe I got everyone so confused. Please except my appologies. And thank you oh wonderfull Muse of mine, for clarifying.

Yes, I saw a post in another thread that someone was cancelling 2 rooms at WL CL. I thought someone here in the lounge might want to scoop them up.

Our plan has always been and continues to be, to do the GF during the holiday season. See the Muse's post above.

That's my sweet Muse - my guiding spirit, my source of inspiration.

storybookmom - love the new clippie. BT is such a creative and generous lady.

mom-rules - Welcome back!

samnbillie - how awful for you. Prayers and PD to you and your friend.

TammiMcMan - You are a class act. Thank you for your kind offer.

storybookmum - I think you will love POR! We stayed there on our first ever trip to the World, when it was still Dixie Landings, and loved it!! Very beautiful landscaping, with lots of paths to wander and discover. Great pool for the kids. That's why we chose it for our budget trip next week!!::yes::

Hello loungers. Been lurking for a day or two. Between my three DS's (6,5 &2), DH and trying to train for the marathon, I have barely been able to function.

samnbillie Lots of prayers headed your way. I truly hope that all is well in the world tonight.

storybookmum We really enjoy Chef Mickey's. We went in July for DS5's birthday. We have done both breakfast and dinner and had a great time. My boys especially love the dessert offerings. I hope you have a great trip.

TammiMcMan Any news on the SAB rehab? I heard from Alana at YC IPO yesterday and she said to not be concerned. Any rehab would be minor painting and that the majority of the pool and slide would be open. I know you aren't going until Dec. and we will be there Nov.7th. Either way, your stay should be magical.

Well, that's all. Have to go check the score of the Sox v. Yanks.

GO SOX!!!!

Hi!

First off I'd like to say that this lounge is absolutely WONDERFUL!! You are all truly genuine & your post personalization really makes us feel welcomed. I will need to start a notebook to keep up with everyone! :)

Thankful for your safe return home MomRules

Prayers also for SamNBilly and your friend. My friend severely broke her ankle on my sidewalk two days before we left for our WDW vacation in May, 2003. I understand your :guilty: issue in a way & just know that your prayers for your friend are the most important thing you can do now.

WoodysRoundUp , you are making my mouth water for those Krispy Kremes!!

My :badpc: update:
Received restore discs at 2pm. Tried for several hours to restore, but laptop kept turning itself off at various times before it could complete. Took to Best Buy (have 3yr ext. warranty until 06/05) and they found that the CD-Rom drive was bad (duh, I guess that's why it would sometimes say "no disc" or "busy" ). Thank God it will be covered by the warranty (warranty does not cover any software/virus issues) and I mentioned that there's probably another underlying problem that it kept shutting down by itself. It's off to the pc hospital and will not be making the voyage with us, though. :sad2: DH said, "Well, the boys will have to do without it" and I said, "But I CAN'T do without it!" :( Boys were gonig to watch DVD's & listen to downloaded CD's during 17hr drive. I NEEDED it to download all of my pictures off my digital camera each day. I purchased a 526(?) mb memory card, in addition to the memory card I originally received. Any ideas on how I'd be able to download the pics? Any local store that would you suggest to put them on a CD? Somewhere I can access a PC and download them onto my Ofoto website? I'm also going to call friends to see if any have a laptop that I might be able to borrow for the trip.

Well, it's really past my bedtime.

Have a PD filled night & day tomorrow!
:)

   room wave.

This will be a quick note until my pain meds kick in....:earseek:

Samnbilly So sorry for your friend and her family. And you. I'm going through somewhat of the same thing with 2 of my dear friends. It is heartbreaking.

momsrule Welcome home!!! I'm sorry, didn't get a chance to read your trip report yet. But will.

storybookmum Love your new clippie! BT rules!!

mmause Get better quick!!!

woody! Tummy pat!!!:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

welcome all new lizards. This is the freindliest place on the web. :chat:

To all who need it... prayers and PD.

To all who are soon on their way to the World... I have counter envy.

Now to find Janet2k's trip report when she broke her leg. I am not about to cancel... postpone... not changing my trip a bit. Just will find a way to do Disney with the cast on my ankle. Heck, I have 50 days. My ankle should heal in that time!!! Maybe I'll have the cast off and just the ugly boot!!

Now I know I need the lounge!!!!

Prayers for SamnBilly's friend, and PD and prayers for those in the lounge that still need it!

Just wanted to jump in and say hello to everyone! :wave2:

My renewal came in the mail yesterday for my AP. I slipped it into conversation that I was trying to figure out if it was worth the 40 dollar discount to renew, or I should just ask for an AP for Christmas. DH heard, and after "aren't you getting tired of Disney?" mentioned that he agreed it was a safe and easy get away. ::yes:: Maybe I'll be able to pull off that Jan trip? DS's AP expires during the MLK weekend, but I haven't pulled it out to see what day. Luckily DH's pass doesn't expire until mid April so I'll have AP days to work with if the discounts are ever released!

A great win last night in hockey! Who needs the NHL when you have entertainment like that!

I put out the breakfast offerings and the cap machine is ready for its first serving!

Well I have been lurking on this thread for a long time and I finally make the plunge! I changed my BC standard rooms for next June into CL. I am now worried but excited too. My three kids are almost grown and this will probably be the last big trip for awhile just the five of us. My daughter graduates from college in May and I have a son in college and in high school. I wanted to make this trip really special!! Also my DH is not really a Disney lover so I really want to convert him!! I booked two rooms because I thought 10 nights with one bathroom would be too much!

I didn't make any room requests though, I was too flustered when I booked at rack rate! Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks a lot, this is a great thread!

Linda
