Have you been able to book BWV or BCV at 7 mos. out???

Yesterday I booked a studio at BCV for June 9-11, and I was told there were units of all sizes available for those days. Probably because only freaks like me will fork over weekend points like that! :rotfl2:

Chris

Well, we booked it long ago, but we'll be in a studio at BCV for June 10th, it's a special day for us, and I wanted SAB and easy in/out of the Flower Show to get to the Flower Power Concert that night.

I think I'll go buy a lottery ticket! I just booked a one night stay, BCV, Studio, for this Sunday night. That's in 5 days.

I booked a 2 bedroom for a week this July at BCV when I called in February.

Jenntish,

The other thing you need to consider is how much anxiety will it cause you being uncertain of getting the resort you really want.

Base on the fact that you have posted a couple of similiar posts I'm assuming you will be anxious waiting to see if you can get into certain resorts. In my opinion spend the extra bucks and buy where your heart tells you. If, on the other hand you truly do not care what resort you stay in, buy the cheapest and be done with it.

Personally I would hate worrying if I was going to get into my desired resort... that's not fun. This is a long term commitment and for the money you're spending you should get what you want.

I was convinced that we should buy BCV if that's where we'd most ideally like to stay... but now your responses have me questioning that. Now I'm thinking it makes more sense to buy SSR and trade out, since we generally won't be travelling at the holiday periods/school breaks (at least not for the next 6 years at least!).

So what do you think.... should we buy SSR???

Help--I'm so confused!!! :confused3
Holiday periods/school breaks are not necessarily the most difficult to book. SChool breaks differe across the DVC membership

When (what months) exactly will you be traveling? As an example, if it's anytime during October - December, you could very well have a problem agetting into BCV. The first 10 -12 days of November are hard - that time includes the NJ teachers' convention, election day and Veterans Day. All of the onsite resorts tends to book up for that period. On the other hand, if you plan to travel in January, the first half of February, May or September, you will seldom have a problem getting into any of the DVC resorts. If you call at 7 months, you will probably be able to get a summertime vacation at least 50% of the time - especially if your dates are flexible and you are willing to use the waitlist.

This is a fairly big decision. If you are truly torn, you might want to try an experiment for your next trip or two. Try to rent points for the BCV at the 7 month window for the time you want to go. See if you can. Whether you are are successful or not, you'll have your own experience to help make your decision.

In the end, it's going to come down to emotion - will you be OK if you don't always get to stay at BCV when you want to vacation? CAn you tolerate the uncertainty of the waitlist process? Will you have a rotten time if you get "stuck" at your home resort? You are the only one who can decide.

Best wishes -

I think the last two posts are where I fall.

I have a lot of stress in my life, and I can stress about stupid things....like whether I'll get "stuck" at SSR (a resort that has no appeal to me - I'm sure its a lovely resort, just not for me). Its worth more in dues and more upfront to know I will have a booking advantage at a resort I do want to stay at.

If I could only book seven months out, it wouldn't make any difference. But we generally plan well over a year in advance.

Every few weeks someone posts with the same sort of questions as you. Probably about 70% of them decide they will buy where they want to stay. The rest take their chances. Each of those people who are taking their chance of getting BCV (and its overwhelmingly BCV they are interested in) is another person who will be competing with you at seven months.

I agree with what some of the others have said. It may depend on what size unit you are looking to book. We've been on a wait list for early June since early Feb (for a 2 bedroom), with no luck thus far. We thought we might get lucky at 4 months out, but so far - no dice. We are booked at OKW, which we love - and can't wait to try out the new slide, but are still holding out some hope that it (BCV 2 bedroom) will come thru closer to the 30 day mark. I would say, if you are trying for a 2 bedroom (from our experience) at 4 months out, you may not have success. We're checking in on 6/4.

Happy Vacationing!

Twice:

A Studio the 2nd week of December and a 2BR for this July.

I called MS today to check on availability of 2/bdrm for 11/26 - 12/3...BWV has nothing, BCV and VWL had very limited availability and only lockoffs...no dedicated. I booked at VWL (my home) so it appears doubtful that any 2/bdrms will be available at 7 months for any of these resorts.

...and to make matters worse, none of these resorts had any 2/bdrm availability for the following week (12/4 - 12/11).
