Have Universal resorts been refurbished?

When we stayed at PBH last July, we were disappointed with the condition of the resort - our rooms were dirty and battered (as were the public areas) and we asked to be moved. They weren't much better, but at least they were top floor, Bay View rooms.

I did send an email when we got home and I received a reply stating that they would shortly be undergoing a refurb, as would HRH. Has this happened? There are some fairly reasonable AP rates available for our stay in a couple of weeks' time, but not if the resorts are still in the tired state they were last July.

What about RPR - has that received a makeover?

HRH just recently replaced the carpets in the hallways and repainted the hallway walls. They soon will be replacing all the soft furnishings in the rooms.

Anyone have info on PBH? We'll be there in October, and I'd love it to be "all new".

Our last stay at Portofino had me saying they were in need of a refurb. I really didnt want to stay there again before that happened. Well things happen and I find myself with a reservation to return there in May. I called last week and spoke to someone I know at the hotel and was told although there have not been any refurbishments since my last stay the plans to do so are in the works. I didnt get an exact date but I imagine after the busy summer we should hear something.

Some rooms are better than others and last time I didnt like the room we got and they did change us to one that was perfect. Just knowing some arent up to par keeps me wanting to stay at RPR till its done. My complaints last time were the carpets were filthy and the furniture worn (scuffed and chipped). We also had a broken lamp. I'll keep you posted when we return as to the condition of things while were there.

RPR opened long after PBH did and last stay we had there we found the place to be in great shape. Maybe after the other 2 are done it will be time to tackle RPR.

My last stay at PBH in January showed signs of wear. Our sofa was ripped, so was the carpet. I still found the bed very comfy and I like the size of the room. I pretty much knew the resort had been run down before I booked , so I expected as much. I noted everything on my comment card.
Recent renovations included the lobby & club room.
Hopefully renovations will continue.
