DD will get extra credit for her university theatre class if we see a show at WDW. One within WDW is fine, no need to buy tickets, but which one. I've heard Festival of the Lion King is good.

Taking any suggestions.

Thanks,
Robin

Festival of the Lion King is very good and there is Beauty and the Beast at MGM which is also very good. You'll enjoy either.

The Festival of the Lion King is my favorite Disney show and is worth the price of admission to AK. Two thumbs up!

Another vote for Festival of the Lion King! It definitely is a must see, sometimes FOTLK is the only reason I want to go to Animal Kingdom. :D

I'm a big fan of theatre and musicals, and to me some of the other shows remind me of the type of shows you would see at a local theme park (please don't flame ;) ). The songs are okay, the performers are okay, and the sets/costumes are okay. They are okay shows and enjoyable, but if I'm going for the shows, I might as well save my time and money and drive 15 miles to Paramount's Kings Island. Good, but nothing great.

FOTLK on the other hand, is fantasic. The music is incredible, the performers are phenomenal, and the set and costumes are beautiful--very reminiscent of a Broadway musical. Not only will your DD get her extra credit, but everyone else will be thoroughly entertained. Hope this helps!!

I would also go with "The Festival of the Lion King." Unfortunately, in later years, Disney's shows have seemed to go downhill for me. Perhaps it's that I'm just getting older, but I remember fondly the days of "Disney World Is Your World" at the Tomorrowland Theatre. . .Walking out of there singing the title song. I loved it. Characters plus some real singing (I realize some was taped). Nowadays, the shows just seem lukewarm (The castle show in particular - - I'm not saying it's bad, it just seems to be aimed at kids, not the whole family).

Now that they've gotten rid of the "Hunchback" show, I think I'm back to being disappointed with just about all of the shows. Even "Lion King" doesn't thrill me, but it is, by far, the best that is now available in the parks.

I would, however, say that "The Voyage of the Little Mermaid" may possibly be considered a show - kind of Broadway "Lion King"-esque in its techniques. If you're planning to go to the Studios, see it and you might think it would qualify.

Sorry to rant - I realize that's not the point of your post. I just started to write...and I just kept writing.

"Disney World - Disney World
For every boy and every girl
A happy ever after world
Disney World is your world!"
-----From the "Disney World Is Your World" show--------

Hi there!
Ohhhhh so many options! I also liked the Lion King but Beauty and the Beast was quite good also. I guess my favorite of all is Fantasmic! We never miss it and are always in awe no matter how many times we go. I don't know if it's really the kind of show you are looking for but it has it all. Music, live action, laser lights, fireworks and animation.
Good luck..........enjoy whatever you choose!

Would Fantasmic! qualify?

That is by far the best show on property.

If not FOLK would be next, followed by Beauty and the Beast, and then "Little Mermaid"

FOLK it is. While we have plans to see Fantasmis and Illuminations, I don't think they qualify. She's supposed to get a program with someone's signature (can't remember whose - some sort of production person). I know they probably won't have programs so we'll just get them to a napkin or something.

Thanks again everyone. Can't believe its so close !!!!

I know it cost money but you could also go see Cirque du Soleil. I have never been but I would think they would have programs.

Lion King is a great show. You could also see Tarzan in AK. :) They have singing, dancing and rollerbladers doing acrobatics and tricks. :D Its a lot of fun.

If you go try to sit the row above the middle crossing aisle. The skaters will roll down that aisle. And some of the performers do come out after the show for pictures and autographs.

Have a good trip!!

TARZAN ROCKS!!!!! Don't miss it, unless you don't like loud music. It is absolutely the best. We really like Lion King too, but never miss Tarzan Rocks on a trip anymore. Our young sons love it too. There is so much action and it's like being at a concert with daredevil stunts. Hope you enjoy it.

I agree - Tarzan is my favorite show to see. I know a lot of people will disagree, but I'd rather see Tarzan Rocks! than FOTK. :)::yes::

If it is for a theatre class - then I'd suggest the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in MGM. They talk all about staging a scene and they have loads of "production" people around (I think they are just actors, but they have to have some real ones on hand - things actually bow up here!).

We also love Tarzan Rocks.

if it's for a theatre class i would see either festival of the lion king or beauty and the beast. both shows are a scaled down version of the actual broadway productions, in fact it's where alot of broadway stars get thier start. i'm from the NYC area and am a theatre lover. my mom and i always get a kick out of seeing a former disney world performer on broadway.

I will give another vote for Festival of the LIon King, it has to be one of the best theme park shows I have ever seen.
