What a ripoff! $60.00. Does anyone have other websites that I could be checking that you have had success with. Someone said to use it as a guideline and then go somewhere else. I am scoping out tickets for March 30 - April 5 2002. Some places aren't booking them now and I will be looking for deals. Does anyone know if deals will come after January?

First of all, Janet, welcome to DIS!

BestFares magazine/website is a business. I was a member for years and had been able to make back the $$ spent in membership by getting good deals and geting "cash back" on reservations made through their travel agency. Once the internet exploded a few years ago, I discontinued my membership because I could get things even cheaper. You can still use 80% of bestfares without becoming a member. FWIW, I find www.bestfares.com to be very difficult to use and full of a lot of junk for the few good tidbits.

There are a number of good travel websites that are free to use and easier than bestfares. For hotels I like www.travelweb.com and www.travelocity.com. Travelweb usually gives the best prices for off-site hotels, but Travelocity includes Disney hotels. I like www.orbitz.com and www.qixo.com for checking airfares. Both give fares on multiple airlines.

All I can say is, subscribe to their email... and every time they come out with a special for "their" members... bring up a new browser for SOUTHWEST AIR!!! Bestfares has you believe they are getting you such a great deal, but all they are offering is like 10% off the Southwest Internet fares!!! So don't pay them, just watch Southwest!!! www.iflyswa.com

The airlines are hurting right now, keep abreast of all the sales, and as soon as you find one that includes your travel dates grab it. We got round trip Sacramento to Orlando for $244, including tax, licence, doc fees, port charge, courtesy phone charge, etc. We could have saved $23 a ticket but would have had to cut a day!! Economical for sure, but if I did that I wouldn't be Disnee Dad!! Could have saved $65 a ticket and flown from San Jose for $179 all included, but would have had to cut a day and spend a night in San Jose, and drive 2 1/2 hours each way. Thought hard about it but finally said no. If you can be flexible with your dates, usually just a day or two and watch for sales you will get a great deal. Start trolling now for deals!!

janetm, The newest website to come out is orbitz.com, its pretty good, but I also like expedia.com, cheaptickets.com, travelocity, com and sometimes you can get just as good a deal if you go directly to the airlines website. Good luck!:)
