Have to have a tooth pulled.

I have never had a toothache before but last week I got one big time! I went to see the dentist on Friday and my last bottom molar is cracked. Cracked in such a way that even if we did the root canal, crown thing, he thinks we would end up having to pull the tooth anyway. So now I have a sore mouth and I'm waiting to get an appt to see an oral surgeon. He put a temporary filling in and medication to kill the nerve... but the darn thing still hurts today.

I had a cracked bottom molar last year and needed it pulled. Oh my the pain is intense. It was also absessed. They gave me penicillin and it helped, thought I was all set. So I chewed a big ole piece of double bubble.. now that was the worst throbbing pain in my life! Nothing like a toothache to keep you up at night. I opted to be knocked out completely for my big pull. I told the dentist that if he didnt knock me out, he would be kicked and or punched if he came near me lol. Now I just have a hole there, but its better than that pain.

Take Motrin - it's the best for painful teeth. I'm assuming it's abcessed?
If he put you on antibiotics, they will start to kick in 2 days, then the pain will subside.

If you do not feel relief in at least 3 days , call him back - they may need to either change antibiotics or pull the tooth sooner. They will get you in ASAP for that. You can get very ill from an infection in your tooth.

ETA-I used to work in a dental office.

I had an abcess in my back molar, it hurt so much one day at work I went tothe oral surgeon during my lunch break and had him pull it! I walked around work the rest of hte day with that big gross wad of bloody gauze in my mouth but as soon as it was pulled it felt 100 percent better!
