Have to get this off my chest, was I wrong?

Expecting people to wait and the line to back up while you take 15 dozen pictures is also entitlement.

If the family in front of the OP were taking more than one picture, then yes, I think she should have felt entitled to go around them. A single picture doesn't hold anyone up and passing that person would be rude, but taking 5011 photos when this is already a congested, irritating line is equally or even more rude.

I totally concur. When we were on the BUZZ LIGHT YEAR ride, I wanted to get a picture of my husband with BUZZ. Of course it took me about 3-5 seconds just to get one shot, and people at that point were giving me looks and wanted to go around us. My husband said hurry up and take the Darn Picture! But like I said, it only took me about 5 seconds and people were really getting antzy! LOL

Have you been in this line? It is always backed up. It's not like the OP said they were just walking through this line with no wait, and then the family in front of them stopped. Moving 5 feet 5 seconds sooner does nothing.

We are talking about a number of pictures somewhere between 1 and 5011. The question, I think, is at what point should you give yourself license to go around. I've yet to hear a standard from any of the "you're backing up the line" crowd other than their personal preferences, which, after all are only personal preferences and can hardly be grounds for being angry when others' personal preferences are different.

It seems that the sensible rule is that as long as it's not delaying you from getting on the ride, you shouldn't cut in front of them. That seems pretty objective to me.

Not quite a good comparison -- Buzz is a constantly loading ride, the vehicles are always moving and people are always getting into them. The line moves swiftly, and Buzz is right near the load area... so while it would have been nice if people were more patient, the antsyness is a little more understandable.

Personally, I would have let you take the picture.

TSM, on the other hand, is a slow-moving line because they have to stop each vehicle to load and unload it. There is also a CM who lets in people at the merge point in groups at a time, so the stairs aren't clogged.

So... when the line moves, it moves about 15-20 feet and then stops for minutes at a time.

That means if someone stops and doesn't move with the line, they're really just delaying you from advancing another 15-20 feet -- and when they eventually move, you will catch up to the rest of the line and still take your seat at precisely the same time you would have had the person not stopped to snap pictures of Potato Head.

The op didn't describe 5011 pictures or even 180 (15 dozen). There is obviously a point where it becomes ridiculous. Where that point is I guess depends on your level of patience. People just need to chill out while in line. We usually play trivia games with the kids, it helps to pass the time. Our favorite is called 5 in 10. I hold up 10 fingers and give them a subject (Red Sox players for example) and then drop one finger approxiamately every second. They have until the last finger drops to get 5. Other possible subjects include characters from a movie, mathamatical operations, elements from the periodic table. It helps pass the time. We also occasionally take pictures that incude a prop or two, like Mr. Potato Head.

A patient Red Sox fan? Surely there's no such thing! ;)

All I know is that when I was at HM right after they opened the new Q area, I stopped to take photos and told people to go around me. I thought it was the polite thing to do. Actually I did the same thing for HTT, great Q there, but I would never hold anyone up because of me. Now, getting back into line...that's more of an issue. LOL

Oh, okay, didn't know the in's and out's of the line que. Interesting. Yeah, you're right the BUZZ robot is at the end of the que and I guess 4-5 seconds seems like a long time. LOL! (Thanks for your courtesy though, of letting me take the picture, :)

The Toy Story Mania though, I think I would like to keep moving, I wouldn't want a 50 foot and beyond gap between the people taking the pictures and the other end of the line. I would want to "CATCH UP" asap. But that's just me! LOL! Human Nature? I don't know. Anyway, thanks for the detailed information.

Not the last few weeks there hasn't been, but that is another topic. Actually cheering for the Yankees tonight, as painful as it is to do.

I'm sure you'll be cheering for us tomorrow, too, not to mention Monday-Wednesday of next week.

Don't worry. The Evil Empire welcomes you. ;)

Oh, it's definitely human nature to want to move, even if it's just to stop and stand still at a point 20 or so feet ahead. I feel it too. As someone said earlier in the thread, hurry up and wait!

I'm just saying it's polite to restrain that urge when it won't actually delay anyone from getting on the ride... which in the case of TSMM, it won't.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. BTW what is the "attraction" of TSM anyway? LOL!!!!!! Seriously, I like Buzz Light year better. I just don't get the 80 minute wait!:confused3 Now, I can see why people rush to get fast passes for Soarin though! Give me SOARIN any day! LOL!!!

Human Nature?

It's human nature to get irritated when we don't get what we want when we want it. (this is not a flame, because it's certainly my nature that I have to keep in check -- ask my wife!) What I was hoping to accomplish through the longest conversation I've ever had on these boards, and I think what mesa and ny_timez are trying to accomplish, is to persuade us that this is one instance when our brains ought to be able to tell our human nature "hey, I know you want to be upset, but really, you will not get to the ride any faster, so let them take their pictures."

I am not nearly so accomodating, and my human nature shines through in all its ugliness, when, as described on another thread, those narcissistic photo hounds take ten pictures with a character after they've fumbled for several minutes opening their autograph books, which causes the whole line to wait longer, and even risk having the character go on break.

You pretty much answered the question, you move around when it becomes ridiculous. 1, 2 pictures is fine, photo session is no cool. If someone acts ridiculous and rude to me and expects me to be patient, I just move around and so will 5 other families.:confused3

Isn't that the question? When does 1 or 2 pictures turn into a photo session? It seems to me the determination of "ridiculous" ought to be somewhat informed by the negative impact it has on you -- and while standing in line for TSM, the most relevant negative impact is a delay in getting on the ride, not a delay in moving ten feet.

that is your perspective, not mine. I will not stand and wait watching line disappear into next area even if I technically can cover this distance pretty fast. Creating such a big gap is ridiculous even if my overall time is not affected I am not a fan of stand-run pattern, it is annoying and this is my perspective.
