while in line at TSMM, the people in front of us were taking lots of pictures as the line moved along. No big deal as it is a great queue! However, when we got to Mr Potato head, they and 2 other groups stopped dead and were posing their kids for shots. I walked ahead of them as we were not taking pictures. The woman had a FIT!!!! Yelled at me, tried to stop my DD from moving ahead too, complained to a CM, glared at us the rest of the queue. To me, it was one thing when they were just taking shots in the line but totally different when you start posing for multiple pictures.

Should I have waited while they finished their rather lengthy photo shoot? Really ruined the night for me. I suppose I should have just let her have her way but she made me sooo mad!!!!

I think you were right to move ahead. If everyone took pictures like that the line would be even longer to get through! At WWoHP, the Forbidden Journey ride, there is a LOT of things to take pictures of and people just pass you by when you stop for a long period of time to look or take pictures. No big deal, it's understood.

Did you board the ride any faster because you went past? I'm guessing no....

I would have waited unless there was literally no one in front of you between PH and the FP merge point.

I get agitated if what people are doing either (i) delays me from getting on a ride, or (ii) allows other people to get in front of me, which of course leads to (i). I don't really see any difference waiting where I am or fifty feet ahead, as long as ultimately, I'm not delayed getting on the ride. However, if the line cleared all the way to where you merged with the FP people, which resulted in more FP people being let in in front of me than would have otherwise happened while they were taking pictures, it might start to result in (i).

I would have waited a minute and avoided the remaining 20 minutes of awkwardness with that family in the line. You only got 1 family ahead in the line but paid a price by having your night ruined.

As one who enjoys stopping along the way to take pictures and who's family is constantly telling her to keep moving, I would actually prefer people go around me and let me take my pictures (in peace!). I figure if I stop for any length of time, people should feel free to go around me. On the other hand, if going around me does no good, then what's the harm is just waiting while I take my pictures? So I guess that's the bottom line. Were you able to ride the ride any faster because you went around, or were you just stuck a few feet ahead, but still waiting? In any case, she had no right to yell at you, and especially your DD. Yelling should not be allowed at Disney!

I can't think of a time I've ridden TSM when people haven't stopped dead to take pics with potato head. I usually just wait for them to get it over with and others do the same. Even those who are taking tons of pics don't seem to hold up the line that much -- i.e. to the point where, like a PP said, the line is empty to the FP merge point.

Now, if someone was taking so long that it reached that point, I would probably just say excuse me, the line has moved on and then if they still didn't get up and go, I'd go ahead of them.

I wouldn't say you were wrong, per se, I think you did technically have the right to skip ahead. However, etiquette wise, I can see what the other person was upset. So it's a toss up to me.

you're right, we really didn't get on any faster. It was the fact that she thought we should all wait for her that did it for me. Truly I am a nice person and just let people like her go rather than deal with it. BUT SHE MADE ME SO MAD!!!!

:thumbsup2 I would have waited, too.

Every time I am in that line, people do this as soon as they get to Potato Head. If you walk past them they always get mad. I just wait for them to finish. Yeah, it's frustrating when they're doing Mom and Dad with PH, each kid with PH, youngest 2 kids with PH, mom and daughter with PH, teen brother with PH, grandma with PH, grandma with kids and PH...

Yeah, it's a toss up. I would have waited but if they were doing multiple shots I would have said, "The lines gone, were you going to go or do you want us to go on?"

On the flip side, if it were me doing the pictures, I would have turned to the people behind me and told them to go ahead.

So yeah, it would have been polite to wait or ask her if you should go, but she was also being rude and if she had thrown a fit at me, I would have snapped at her for holding up the line.

I think I would have probably tapped the shoulder of an adult in their party and said, "Excuse me, do you mind if we continue on ahead of you?"

Dunno how she would have reacted to that! But generally people wave us on, so they can get back to their photos.

I think it depends on how far ahead the line had moved. If you could still see the end of the line and there was really not that much of a gap then I wait. If the line has really moved up I say to the person taking pics " do you mind if we go around?" Usally that promts them to go ahead and catch up to the rest of line. I wouldn't just go past them without saying anything

but at the same time the person taking pics over reacted.. and should have just gotten in line where ever she was.

For you the wait is the same if the person moves ahead or stops to take a few pics (or a lot of pics).

It's not like you were at the loading zone and she was stopping you from boarding the ride right that minute.

Why were you mad?? you were "Waiting" in a line anyway you were not going to get on the ride any faster... How long were they posing for anyway???

If she glared at you the rest of the way... you obviously still had a long "wait" .
I don't get it...

I don't think it was so much the fact that she thought you "should" all wait for her. She probably just figured that you "would" all wait. Because, after all, there was still some queue to go through, it wasn't stopping you from getting on the ride, and ... well ... you're in line. Your place in the line was behind her, and there was no immediate reason why you HAD to move forward and fill up the space. Because all you did was move forward and then what? You continued to stand in line.

If she had stopped just before getting on the ride and started posing everyone, and there was literally an empty ride car WAITING for someone, then yes ... you say "Excuse me", walk on by, and board. But in this case, I think you were in the wrong and you really have no reason (IMO) to be so mad at her.

:earsboy:

I would have waited. Perhaps if they were taking pictures for 10 min, then I would ask to go ahead but for a short time, be patient.

I think you were wrong.

Was the line moving and they stopped to take pics thus holding up the line? If so, I probably would have said "hey the line is moving" or something to that effect, so they know we are getting irritated. They are obviously in the queue and not just inside for photo ops, so I don't think going around them was probably right. But they have no business holding up the line either.

sounds like they need a photo pass photographer there... problem solved! :thumbsup2

The polite thing for THEM to have done was say; "Please go on ahead. We will be awhile." That's would I would do and have done if I am holding up a line for some reason.
