My husband told me over the weekend that we can't go to DL this March because his unit has training then. So I was wondering what weeks tend to be slower in May? And is it really hot? I'm from Cali, but haven't lived there since my teens. So all the help would be great. Oh I am from northern Cali weather so much different. Thanks.

I was there last year on Mother's Day weekend (May 8-9??) and it was quite lovely. Not too hot or crowded.

We went the weekend (Sa, Sun, M, Tu) before Memorial weekend and it was very pleasant. I don't remember thinking "it's crowded." Weather was nice. Cool in mornings and evenings, warm enough for short sleeves in late morning and afternoon.

May is a fabulous time to go, except right around Memorial Day weekend, in terms of both crowds and weather. One of our favorite times.

IMO May is the best off-season month at DLR. If you have not been in awhile read up on this:

I've only been to DLR during Memorial Day weekend in May (both 2009 and 2010). I'm from NorCal (San Francisco) and I loved the warm weather (it was in the mid-high 70s this year) when I went. As PPs have mentioned, it does tend to get crowded during that time since it's a long weekend but it's nothing like the crowds during summer or the Christmas holidays.

One thing you should be ready for, is possibly crowds coming in for ride openings. Little Mermaid in DCA and Star Tours 2.0 in DL are supposed to open for summer. This could bring in thousands of extra people. But it a risk you will have to accept. As with many projects they take extra time and maybe they won't open until July. We just have to wait and see.

I was there for the middle weekend in May last year. It was fantastic. The weather is fabulaous that time of year. We ended our weekend with Monday morning in DCA. It was practically empty. We ended up leaving 2 hours earlier than we expected because we were done with the things we wanted to hit. This year we are hoping for a Monday-Tuesday May visit.

We have tenative dates for the Mon. after Mother's Day through Friday. From what I hear on the disboards May is a pretty good off-season time to go. HydroGuy's links are very helpul(THANK YOU HYDROGUY).

We went the last weekend in May, right before Memorial Day. Wed-Friday was great, not much crowds, Saturday was a little more crowded despite being a Deluxe AP blackout day. Weather was very temperate, warmer than the Bay but not too hot. Thinking about doing the same thing again next year if we can squeeze it in since usually by the end of the semester I'm ready to decompress!
