I have been on some wacky trips, and had some outrageous things happen to me, but nothing has ever happened that has ever ruined my stay. I almost find all the quirks to be endearing, memory inducing moments. However I do understand that some things are either so unbearable or that some people may not have a super thick skin. So has your trip ever been just ruined and how?

I've had rooms with awful views when I thought I was paying for a good view.

I've never gotten a towel animal.

I've had rides break down.

I've had hot-tubs filled with pre-teens so not another square-inch of space was left open.

I've had pool lounges all taken up.

I've had tornado warnings .

I've had horrible bus service.

I've had Mears over book the airport pick up so we were stranded at the airport.

I had my dad nearly die in Epcot (asthma attack requiring an ambulance pick up).

Yet everyone of those trips is filled with magical memories. I treasure each one.

Hmmm, let's see. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 days before our first Disney Cruise. We went because my twins would be celebrating their 6th birthday on the ship and I didn't want to disappoint them. It was a great trip anyway. :boat:

So now, short of the ship sinking or the hotel exploding, nothing will ever ruin my trips - I cherish every minute of each one! :wizard:

I've been very lucky and always had wonderful trouble free trips :sunny:

My ds came down with a stomach virus as soon as we arrived at the airport. He was throwing up and had diarhea for the first 2 days of the trip. I can't say that it ruined the trip, because he was better after 2 days. But the first 2 days were bad. I was worried, and he was feeling lousy. Now, the good thing. On day 3, DH and his family went to MGM while my ds and I stayed in the hotel. By 12pm, ds wanted to go to MK, so we went just to ride on Buzz, then headed back to the hotel and just walked around to enjoy the sites of Poly! It was a special time because it was just ds and I, spending quality time as Mom and son! :flower:

Being in Orlando during a hurricane in 1999 and having a miscarriage during our trip in 2003. I still love WDW more than anywhere else!!!

I took my girlfriend to the CR for the weekend, my wife took her mother to the CR the same weekend.......

Well, that was smooth. :rotfl2: Maggie

1998 ~ dd had the worst hissy fit during dinner at GG
1998 ~ dd, dh and I got a tummy virus two days before we returned home.
However, those things didn't ruin the trip. We booked a return trip as soon as we got home! S :cheer2:

The only vacation that was ever ruined was last year when I took my kids to a family reunion. On the way, we stopped in NC to see my dad who had lung cancer. Within 24hrs he took a turn for the worse and was admitted to ICU. He stabilized and the nurses, the doctors and my dad encouraged me to go the family reunion anyway. Six hours later, I learned he had been life-flighted to Duke University, so back in the car and DH & I drove to Durham where my dad languished, critically ill, for another 20 days until he died. Although my kids had a wonderful time(we left them at the reunion in the care of my sisters), DH & I had an awful experience.

Nothing like a fat almost-middle-aged guy plopping down in the middle of pre-teens to clear a hot-tub! LOL! I have no shame.

Sometimes the spirit is stronger than modern medicine. It looks as if you have the spirit! Bless you!

I can't say we've ever let anything ruin our trips to our happy place!! ...Not annoying tour groups, not illness, not long waits, not anything...Can't wait to go again next week! ______ (insert terrible event) at Walt Disney World is better than ______ (insert same terrible event) at home...

Well. We paid extra for a lagoon view at the Grand Floridian and instead got a view of a giant pine tree... TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!!
It didn't ruin the trip, but it was disappointing.

Not ONce....we have had tons of small inconviences....including my youngest dd8 being diagnoised type 1 diabetic the second night of our Dec 2004 trip....we never even missed a minute of park time....Our family motto is Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking...

I took DD to WDW in the summer of 2002- My mom had a confrence at CSR, and invited us along, so we didn't have to pay for the room. Mom paid for DDs ticket, and I covered mine. We were there 3 days, but only spent 1 at a park- MK.

Now, with the trip being basically free, I can't say that it was ruined by anything- BUT it rained almost the entire time we were there :umbrella: ! We only got to swim in the quiet pool for a bit, because the Dig Site pool was closed due to rain and lightning the entire time. We got about 3 hours at MK before the skies opened up. I had not discovered the DIS yet, so we were very unprepared for the storms (no ponchos, hats, or umbrellas)- I was okay with the rain, but DD and mom wanted to leave.

We did have a great b'fast at 'Ohana on departure morning (of course, it was beautiful and sunny the day we had to leave  ) but overall, not the very best Disney vacation.

We had a few major mishaps that happened while we were there. Usually involving things at home that couldn't be helped. It allowed for one sour evening, well I should say a sour couple of hours. We were determined to not let it ruin our trip.

We actually did a horse drawn carriage ride at the WL to forget about all our troubles, right after every thing happened. It worked.

We still tell everyone that there is no way to be unhappy at the happiest place on earth. thats why we love it!

Twice my DH got flu while we were there, but rest of the trip was ok both times..he just stayed in the room and we went to the parks without him...:(

I was there over 9/11..that was hard being away from home and my kids (they are all adults but it was hard getting home)..but trip was ok.

DS once got landed on by a very large guy in the wave pool at TL and hurt his back badily, but ER checked him out as ok, and other than being very sore he and the rest of the family had a good trip...

Nothing has ever ruined a trip, just a few minor bumps in the road over the years like everybody else.... :sunny:

I think I'm pretty "thin-skinned" when it comes to vacations. We have to pinch pennies to take the vacations we take and we go without alot during the year so... not an excuse just an explanation.

One of my first vacations, I got 2nd degree burns, dummie!, and was miserable for the entire week.

Trip 5 years ago for my DD's 3rd birthday with fiance, got into a major brawl, he left and went to Daytona Bike Week and left us there. The next day my son's father was beaten badly and was in a coma in MA (my ex-mil called the resort to let us know). I had the $$ I needed and our park and airline tickets, etc. so none of that was a problem and I made the best of a bad situation for the kids' sakes, but gee...

I admire the people who have been there these past couple of weeks. I could cry when the weather is cooperative, especially if it's a short trip. I cannot enjoy myself when it is downpouring. Of course, everyone likes a mid-day rain to cool things off but to have rain day after day...

Like I said, maybe I'm a bit more thin-skinned than some, but I do admire them :flower:
