Have they removed the clock radio from all the resorts?

I forget which one of the All Stars had them but there was a batch of really crappy alarm clocks with radios. You could change the time by pressing just one button and, sometimes you reach for the snooze button and accidentally hit the hour button or the minute button next to it and the time changes and the alarm doesn't come back on and then you oversleep and miss your plane.

One advantage of bringing your own alarm clock is that you know how to work it.

... old fashioned signs for color TV, air conditioning, how about no clocks ...

Reminds me of traveling when I was little (including the trip to the New York World's Fair with It's a Small World). Every hotel room the family stayed at had a TV, always black and white, but somehow I don't remember there always being a clock or radio. Yes there was a sign outside advertising "free TV".

It's not the alarm. It's the 2:00 in the morning, rolling over, wanting to see what time it is. Instead of a quick glance at the nightstand, I have to fumble for my phone and hit a button.

Even if I wore a watch (which I doubt I will ever do since I don't want something else on my wrist with a magic band) that still wouldn't help during the middle of the night.

I'm curious - why do you want to know what time it is if you wake up in the middle of the night? I actually cover my alarm clock with a washcloth because of how bright the glow from the numbers is (and it's actually on the dimmer setting), plus, if I wake up during the night I don't want to know how long it is until my alarm goes off - I think it makes it easier to fall back asleep.

I always want to know what time it is in the middle of the night when I wake up, whether or not I'm on vacation or at home. Lots of people have that preference.

Agreed! Because SOMEtimes "the middle of the night" ends up being just a few minutes before you were going to wake up anyway so why bother going back to sleep. But either way, it's nice to know. And looking at an alarm clock for the time is certainly less awakening than turning on the bright screen of your cell phone.

Exactly! :thumbsup2

Actually I carry my own clock most of the time anyway with white noise. We have a clock in almost every room of our house. Our bedroom has 2! We have one in the bathroom, and family room, and the appliances in the kitchen. I can't imagine a hotel room not having one. I'll have to remember to tell my parents to bring one. I'm definitely in the look at the clock in the middle of the night camp.

If I wake up a few minutes before my alarm, then I don't want to go back to sleep! What a bummer that would be. There's no more comforting feeling than waking up and seeing that it's "only" 2am. I love that!

Ok, I just said to DH why don't I just take MY alarm clock. It's super basic (b/c last time it had to be replaced I found there were next to no alarm clocks b/c everyone just uses their phones) and hardly takes any room. So, if I take my own alarm clock that needs to plug into the wall IS there a place to plug it in on the new charging station outlet?

Yup.

Most nights it just nice to now how much time I've got left before I get up. But on the night before a flight I really want to know. A quick glance is much less disruptive than fumbling to turn on the iPhone.

I never use the alarm, but glance at it a lot duration not the stay. I'm with others, I wish they'd taken a bigger sample for their survey.

Seriously, you never do that? If you wake up, don't you wonder if it's 2:00 or 10 minutes before you need to get up anyway? I want to know whether to roll over and go back to sleep or whether to just get up now. And if I didn't know how much longer I had, I'd never fall back to sleep. I'd be laying there wondering how much more time I had, thinking it's going to go off any minute. If I know I still have three hours, I'm good!

Nope. The way I see it, ignorance is bliss - if I don't know the alarm is going to go off in 10 minutes, maybe I can actually fall back asleep. I will concede though, that if the room isn't pitch dark when I wake up (especially since my bedroom faces east), I'm pretty certain the alarm will go off any minute, which does make it harder to fall back asleep.

I always used the radio/alarm clock for white noise, I would leave the radio on and leave it between stations.
I also like to just glance at the time in the middle of the night.

I think this move is ridiculous, for the amount of money we pay for a Disney hotel room they should have an alarm clock and whatever the new technology others need for their electronics. I too wake many times thru the night and would like to look and see what time it is. I have never heard of a hotel room without an alarm clock. I dont want a cell phone near my sleeping area.

Deb.
Yes. And our room at big pine key in GF did not have charging docks. The doubletree we were in the night before checkin did though. That room only cost us 20000 hhonors points!

We never used the alarm function but did rely on the clock for glancing for time checks. It stinks that they couldn't think of another solution before just yanking them all out. They could have left them in the closet area with the hair dryers so those who wanted to use them had that option. Or better yet find an alarm clock/phone combo that they could have had customized with their room options, they're Disney, they could have found a company to make them. sort of like this:

I know you can buy a small basic alarm clock at target for like 7.99 but why should we have to bring even more things with us?

That is me, too. I would use it for white noise, just on static. Really came in handy!

I find this just weird! Why would you not have a clock in a hotel room? Wonder if you can request a clock? I was a POR in October and that room had a clock.

We were at All Star Movies this past weekend (Fantasia, building 5, first floor) and our room had a clock radio.
