Have they removed the clock radio from all the resorts?

Because their research/surveys showed 86% of respondents don't use the clock. And of those, 95% would prefer more spots to charge their electronics.

I don't like it either, just answering the question.

I'm really curious how you know the survey results.

I'm in the unplug-the-clock group and don't mind this. What amazes me is that hotel rooms continue to have phones.

I'm not impressed with a hotel room that doesn't have a clock. So it uses 10 cents worth of hydro a day. What's next? Removing the tv? How about taking away the toilet. If these are what cutbacks are doing, I don't want any part of it. As one drives down the road to Pop Century we see the old fashioned signs advertising colour tv or air conditioning. Maybe they should advertise "no clocks. Bring your own."

It reminds me of the airline industry. Charging for meals and luggage now. Today most people carry their own lunch on board and schlep their carry-ons through the airport, while telling themselves it's more convenient, or they don't like airline food. That's not the point. Service is deteriorating badly. I digress. Sorry. Back to our topic.

I long for the days of full service. I don't enjoy pumping my own gas, and I sure would like some attendant checking my oil.

It's not cutbacks, it's giving what the majority of their guests who answered the after stay surveys asked for. It actually cost them more $$ now and in the long run for them to do this. The charging stations without anything connected to them draw more amps than the clocks. And even more once devices are connected to them.

At the Poly a month ago and there were clocks there then

Not for long. Just talked to my MIL who is there now and their room had one when they checked in Saturday, but gone when they got back to the room an hour ago.

Why couldn't they put in the little units that have a clock and several charging outlets? Have seen those popping up as well and that would keep everybody happy!

Good question.

Just remember people, do the surveys and contact guest services if you are unhappy with decisions like this.

We didn't have a clock at Pop for our Thanksgiving trip. It was annoying. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and like being able to check the time without fumbling for my phone.

I also like to have it while I'm getting ready in the morning just for quick glances to make sure I'm on time. If I have a bottle of foundation in my hand and gunk all over my fingers, it's so much easier to look at a clock than totally wash my hands to check a phone!

I guess it's kind of lazy of me... But I miss the clocks.

We are from Canada and keep our cell phone off at all times or else we will get huge roaming fees while in the United States.

We just turn off data roaming. You can go even farther and put it on airplane mode if you don't even want phone calls.

There wasn't a clock in our room at GF the first week in December. I can't say that I particularly missed it. We used the alarm on our phones/iPads. My iPad has a smartcase so I just partially opened the case when I wanted to see the time. No need to push buttons.

Wow! IDK how I feel about this, while I use my technology all the time when I travel I still like that glowing reassurance of an alarm clock!

We are going to miss the clock. Now I will have to buy a travel alarm clock so i can get up in the morning. We are from Canada and keep our cell phone off at all times or else we will get huge roaming fees while in the United States. I wonder if its another way to save money for wdw.

Deb.
Did you know that you can purchase USA travel package from almost all Canadian carriers that will give you voice, text and data for $5 or more, depending on how many days and what services you need? I plan to use this while at Disney World. :)

Emphasis on the OR MORE, I think. It was about 10 times that for our last trip with our provider. But for $10 at our local travel store, I bought a little travel clock. It's a wind up one that will never need charging, a plug in, or batteries.

Just added "alarm clock" to my standard Disney packing list. <sigh> It will live in the Disney box with the 2 USB power strips (and numerous other things that we need at Disney) from previous trips. There are plenty of alarm clocks available with both USB ports and standard outlets, why not replace the alarm clocks with those instead of eliminating the alarm clock completely????

Okay, silly question---why??? Not that it's a big deal, but I like having a clock in the room. And every hotel I've ever stayed has had one. Middle of the night, you roll over, want to see the time, you just glance at the nightstand. Now I have to fumble to find my phone and hit a button to check the time? Yes, not a big deal, I know. But one of those little things that makes you wonder why Disney is scrimping on such things!
Have you ever had an alarm go off at some ongodly hour in a resort room? I think that this is the reason.

I don't really love this. I feel bad for people who aren't techies or can't have their phones on. My parents & aunt will be there in a few weeks, and I know they would use it for time, probably not for the alarm, but my dad certainly looks at a clock in the middle of the nt.

Surprisingly, there are people out there without smartphones(my dad, aunt & DH all have flip phones still - dad & aunt by choice, DH because it is free from work!). I will bring some alarm clocks I guess...

An in room alarm clock rang in the the night during our hotel stay a few weeks ago (not Disney). I made a point of mentioning how annoying it was when I was emailed for feedback on our stay.

Lightweight, small, simple, and inexpensive travel clocks are readily available. We occasionally travel with one during longer trips.
