I forget which one of the All Stars had them but there was a batch of really crappy alarm clocks with radios. You could change the time by pressing just one button and, sometimes you reach for the snooze button and accidentally hit the hour button or the minute button next to it and the time changes and the alarm doesn't come back on and then you oversleep and miss your plane.
One advantage of bringing your own alarm clock is that you know how to work it.
Reminds me of traveling when I was little (including the trip to the New York World's Fair with It's a Small World). Every hotel room the family stayed at had a TV, always black and white, but somehow I don't remember there always being a clock or radio. Yes there was a sign outside advertising "free TV".
