Have the rides gotten faster?

When I was younger it seemed as though the rides at DL were slower then, than they are now. Last time I was on Alice, it seemed like we raced through it. Is it just me?

It could just be your attention span :lmao: Things when you are a kid always seem longer when you are a kid then when you are older. Kind of like how things look bigger when you are a kid as well. Then again, maybe they have.

I don't know, but to me it always seemed like the rides run faster at night than they do during the day too. Probably just a perception thing

Oh my mom, sister and I say that everytime. I think they really do go faster. Sometimes a they feel a little out of control. :scared1:

I always feel like the rides go slower on slow days...maybe because the wait time to ride time ratio is shorter...who knows. But during the summer it seems like the rides just fly by.

I have always wondered this and never figured it out for sure.

They definately SEEM to go faster at night

I love how things seem to go faster at night and in the dark! It's a big part in why the final drop on SM isn't the worst part for me, but that one that's in the dark! Not being able to see the things that go by you makes it feel like you're going faster for sure!

We have always thought BTMRR was soooo much faster at night than during the day.

I was wondering the same thing about the dark rides in FL. We got our APs last november and before that it had been about 5 years since we had been to DLR and I was surprised at how fast the dark rides were. I thought maybe it was because we have DS with us now so I was thinking about the ride from how it must feel to someone who's never experienced that sort of thing. But now that I hear other people saying the same thing maybe the did speed things up in an effort to get more people through faster. :confused3

When we were there in April, we thought space mountain went fast. My and husband and I rode SM and then my Sister in Law rode SP and we all thought the same thing. Then on our last day we rode SM and it felt slower:confused3. maybe it depends who is working the ride.

My family feels that Splash Mountain goes a lot faster during the evening, when it's dark outside. I think that could be perception due to the dark.

I can not ride the Sun Wheel at night, it's way too freaky, I feel so afraid of heights then. Maybe I'll try it again, to conquer the fear.... I went once for the first time in the dark, and was surprised to learn then that I have (apparently) a certain fear of heights. (I could go on California Screamin' and not feel so nervous, and in fact, loved that ride.) Anyway, the next time (in a year) we went on the Sunwheel ride in the day time - I had decided I would try to ride it in the day to see how I felt, and although I felt squeamish still (we were always on the non-swinging gondolas, BTW), it was far better than at night. I think that the dark does play with your head a bit!

My DH pointed out to me how much better you can see on the PotC ride at night - because you are used to walking around in the dark in the evening, the cones in your eyes have already gotten accustomed to the dark, so are then prepared for the dark rides more easily. At least, that's the non-scientific reasoning my DH and I came up with. But try it, seriously, notice how little you can see into corners and nooks on the PotC ride during the day, and then at night it just all jumps out at you!
