have the 'lovebugs' returned yet?

Ewwwww!!!!! I cannot stand those little ugly black bugs. You can't walk outside because for some reason they are like fly paper on you and your car well give it up it's gonna be covered in LoveBug Guts there is no way around it, But what REALLY grosses me out is when you have 2 of them joined together land on you Ewwww. :bride: :groom:

I HATE them! I drove into a swarm of them last May somewhere on I-4, in my brand new shiny car! They splattered all over the front of my car, and to this day, there is still gunk all over the front. It's not just one spot - there are many, many spots. I may have to get the car detailed to get it clean, as it won't come off anymore with me washing it. I may consider getting a nose cover for my car, since it may cost the same as constant detailing! Will the bugs still be out in three weeks? I hope not! :(

Ok, now. I am heaved. And itchy all over. The OP said they fly on you, and such, and then i read other posts./Where people said they dont really bother you. And now this. Fly paper on me. Land on me when joined together What...? Oh no. I will be the only one wearing my poncho when it is not raining, almost passed out from a heat stroke. :rotfl: :lmao: I dont want them on me !!

they might land on you like a fly, but that's about it. when you hit a swarm of them on a highway is when they're a pain. their guts are like glue on your car.

and have an orgy on your arm! that's kinda gross. :artist:

I have noticed that they seem to be attracted to you if you are wearing light colored clothing, especially white. If you wear darker colors, they tend to leave you alone.

Spray the front of your car with PAM. Works like a charm--they slide right off!!

They're back! I've seen plenty of them around my house the past week. I live ten minutes from WDW property.

Yes. It is something how the color white attracts them!!!!!! I lived in Louisiana from the day I was born until February 2002. I had to deal with them every May and September. Our last house had white siding on it around our garage area. Our back doors were also white. Oh, the bugs LOVED that area!!!!! I had to keep sweeping them off of my floor by that door. They just stayed there that month!!!
I was wondering how bad they are in the parks now.

Other than the cars paint- these bugs don't really bug you too much lol.

You will get more in grassy areas- so in the parks they shouldn't be a big problem- might get more at AK then other parks but really they aren't bad. Which is why they are bad on high ways because they are usually on the median or shoulders in the grass there... and apparently these are suicidal bugs because they hang out on the road too lol but only in between grassy/wooded areas

Also I think WDW sprays for many bugs and the stuff that kills mosquitos will kill love bugs too- but no personal bug spray like off will keep them away from you- they don't bite or sting so they aren't really attracted to people because of their blood or scent.

As kids we always loved love bug season- it gave us something to do when we played outfield when we did kickball in PE lol- we'd see how many we could catch.

I do recall reading somewhere that the Spring and Fall versions are actually two different species but really I've never noticed much of a difference.

We had our first few make an appearance this past weekend- and not too bad this year but it is still early and it had been soooo hot this summer and they need certain temperatures to trigger the "swarm"
