Have the "extra" features at SAB been fixed?

SAB has several little extras that had been disabled for a while....I was wondering if they ever fixed them?

1) THE BUBBLING WATERS part in the "active" pool near where the slide dumps out

2)SHIFTING SANDS?

3) THE WINDMILL used to turn---it was not turning when I was last there--did they trim the tree and fix the windmill motor?

I have also been disappointed with the "sinking sands" area of SAB. It was one of my favorite parts of the pool. I think they even removed the buoy that said something like "caution, sinking sands". I hate when attractions go unfixed. It makes Disney appear cheap.

Another attraction that has gone unfixed is th jumping water snakes in the "frog area" on the splash mountain ride. That was very cute when it was in operation, but it just stopped several years ago, and has never been restarted.

When we were last @ BCV I asked if the bubbling waters would be restarted and was told there was an issue with safety so they were turned off b/c the lifeguards couldn't See under the water if someone were drowning.

I got the same reason from a lifeguard in Feb. about the bubbling water area. The bubbles reduced the visibility of the lifegurads. He also talked to me about some of the tests Disney does on the guards. They secretly slip a shadow into the bottom of the pool and they have 10 sec (I think) to see it and 20 sec. to retrieve it. He also talked about that lifeguards in FL are personally libable if there was a accident (as well as Disney). He have be a healthy respect for the guards.

Using the same logic, the remoteness, lack of visability and bubbles in the hot tubs at SAB should have caused them to be shut them down too.

Excellent point.

Disney probably could pay one less lifeguard/shift if they turned off the bubbles. Now they don't need a guard posted on the "bubble lagoon" side of SAB. The chair-guard can now see to patrol that portion of the pool.

It's hard not to laugh at a "safety" explanation when SAB has been open for over a decade (I know it was there in 1994 -- probably longer).

we have seen the lifeguard test several times on our last trip, the first time we seen the dark floating thing and sure enough the lifeguard jumped in and retrieved it, at first we didnt know what to think about it. then several more times after that we knew what wdw was doing and its a great test for the lifeguards. the sinking sand maybe shut down because of all the pool games that are played in the area vollyball & waterpolo. I forgot about the windmill, but what really drives me crazy is the sound of the metal flags moving in the wind. i can see why they stopped the bubbles in the whirlpool inside the sab pool, that whirlpool is always filled with tons of kids and they just let the water take them and they are all over, on top of everyone, i get nerves when DD goes in there. i have even seen kids with tubes going in there, they are not in there long before they get caught, but it doesnt take that long to sink some kid with the tube.
