:dance3: I made my reservations today!!! Did I book the right room to see the fireworks??? We are staying in a premium view room, our reservation says:
"Dreams Tower, Downtown Disney View, Upper Level"

Is This Good???!!!

What about the renovations?? Will I have a balcony room or a new room? (I prefer balcony, if you read any of my other posts.. wont bore you with details here)

What is it Like???
SOOOO excited!:cheer2:

This is EXACTLY the place for viewing the fireworks! They even have a channel on the tv that plays the music, so you can get a whole experience.

I don't know about renovations; we just stayed in the Wonder tower last week and it didn't look renovated. I didn't see any construction going on...

The balconies are barely big enough to stand on, but you can open up the sliding door and get a nice view. Dreams Tower is my favorite tower. You'll like it!

We stayed in the exact location last week. We had a great view of the fireworks both nights and loved the piped in music (didn't want to drag my 5 and 3yr olds through the crowds, people started staking out spots for 9:25 fireworks at 2pm!)

A few points of advice:
  • check in as early as possible to ensure you get a good room and reiterate your request
  • we stayed on the 7th floor. Try to get higher if you can. We could see the fireworks, but the new show has tinkerbell and dumbo flying around and we could barely make them out behind the treetops

Have fun! Get to the parks early as the afternoons and evenings were pretty crowded. We got alot done by noon each day.

also, I asked for a newly renovated room when I checked in and the CM said they aren't starting construction until the end of Aug...not sure when any of them will be available for guests....

I'm so excited I can hardly wait! :goodvibesHaven't told the kids yet, it's a surprise !!! Out of curiosity, does anyone remember if there are there "top" locks (high up) on the sliding doors to prevet little explorers from opening them up in the middle of the night?(we have a very precocious 4 year old!)

How did you book your reservation? I booked online through Disney Travel and my reservation only says "Upper Level Resort/Pool View". Do I call and make a specific request?

Nope, no high-up locks.

actually, ours did have a high up lock as well as a regular sliding door lock. I'm scared of heights and very paranoid about my kids near windows or balconies so you can be sure I used that high deadbolt alot!

Regarding a special request, call the hotel directly and put in a specific request. She should note it in your ressie. Ask again when you arrive.

Hmmm... I called today to ask about the upgrade fee for concierge level, they said $125 + tax per night  I wonder if it is worth it!? I just want to have a great view... Maybe I'll start a thread/poll on concierge & upgrades

I booked through the main disney travel phone number.. The cm who helped me was very nice and noted all of my requests!

algamble, there are two locks on the doors and one is sort of hidden. They are both up at adult chest level or above, so I don't think your 4-year-old could reach them very easily.

And, honestly, it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out HOW to open the slider!!!! (OF course, I KNOW how resourceful a 4-year-old can be!:scared1:)
