Hi, I have a couple of questions...we are renting a house next March for a week (Sat-Sat) but would like to extend our stay one more day and book a room at a Disney Resort for Sat. night and fly out on Sunday. We'd just hang out at the hotel enjoying whatever there is to enjoy! It'll be myself, DH, DS 14, DS 11, and DD 6. Do you think it would be worth it to spend the money to stay the night and experience the "magic"? We've never stayed onsite. Money *is* an issue, so a suite is out. Do you recommend ajoining rooms at a value resort? How much would that run? (approx) and would I have to pay for both rooms at once? Which one is your personal favorite? Any other suggestions for a room for 5? Thanks!!

March is the high season - you may be able to get a discount if you book far enough ahead, but it is not a sure thing. Check the disney website - but I believe you will spend $130 - 135/room including tax if you have to pay rack rate.

I would suggest visiting for the day - get your "disney magic" that way. You can explore any or all of the resorts for free. The only thing you couldn't do is use the pools.

Book a hotel outside of the resort for your one night - you should be able to find something for under $100 - even with five people in the room.

I think that could be a lot of fun, but I would not recommend a value resort b/c your older kids would probably find the pool boring and there isn't much else once you take in the decor other than a playground and arcade. If you can swing the $, I would do YC or BC b/c there's an outstanding pool. My teens also like the hot tubs and the value resorts (and poly) don't have them. You also are next to the Boardwalk, so you can walk around there and, if you want to spend more $, rent a surry bike. The rooms at those resorts also sleep 5.

AKL would also be a fun place to stay to enjoy the resort if you think the older kids would enjoy the animals. Unfortunately, as a family of 5, you will pay as much there as YC/BC b/c you have to get a deluxe room.

The Contemporary is the usually the least expensive deluxe and you CAN ride the monorail without park tickets!

You could also stay at PO-R. There's a good (not on the level of YC/BC, though) pool with slide and hot tub, arcade and surry bikes plus you can ride a boat to Downtown Disney. We stayed in one room there when our children were similar ages and were perfectly happy.

I'd also suggest staying your 1 night at POR-R;) It's a moderate resort and probably won't cost too much more than to stay at the value resorts but you'll get a waterslide at the pool as well as a hot tub and lots of great activities at the resort, biking, boating, arcade, etc. It's also the only resort in the moderate catagory (except for a deluxe room at CSR) that will accommodate 5 in a room. Although they do charge a little extra for the 5th person for a trundle bed but it would probably still be less than it would cost for a deluxe resort.
