I am wondering about the beds...will my plus size mother be comfortable on the 'sofa bed', or will we have room for a blow up bed. We have never cruised before and some family members have invited themselves along, which will bump my mom to the sofa. We are taking the 4 night, but that is a long time to go without sleep. I need some feedback please!!!!

I would doubt if you would have room for a blow up bed. The sofa bed is little smaller, shorter than a twin according to ds who got to sleep in it.

It's a VERY small bed. They had to move and shift around to fit the porta-crib in there so I'm not sure how well a blow up bed will fit. Good luck.

I have never cruised befor....but just the other day someone asked about an aero bed on another post....according to the responces they recieved....most people said is should fit...may depend on what kind of room you have to start with though.....and of course what size of blow up your talking about.

We just got back yesterday, and more than 2 adults in one room would be VERY tight. The sofas are short. I am 5'4" and I would have to bend my knees in order to fit.

We had a sofa table in our stateroom. My kids did not. So, a blow up bed would fit if there were no sofa table. However, any night time trips to the restroom would be interesting.

On our last cruise MIL, FIL, and GMIL (all plus size) shared a category 9 cabin and said it was just fine for them.

We just got back last night and I am a plus sized woman. I had no trouble fitting on the sofa bed while I waited for my dd (15) to return late at night. I shut the curtain so my dh wasn't kept awake from the light as I downloaded pictures to my laptop. I wouldn't put an air mattress in the stateroom since there is so little space to begin with. It was tight with the 3 of us in a category 8. What category will you be in? The larger staterooms may have extra space.

Good Luck! You'll have a great time.

Definately no room for an blow up mattress..we had a category 5 room.

Daughter slept on the sofa bed. It isn't like you think..the back flips over and turns into the bed..so it isn't like a full size sofa bed you would pull out in your living room. She said it was comfy enough. Kind of like a small version of a twin bed.

Would Disney even let a person have a blow up bed?

Seems to me that mom booked first and should then have first choice of bed.

My 6'2" 210 lb DS had no trouble with the sofa bed. He could not use the drop down bed though, it has a sticker on it saying it has a 200 lb weight limit. So 13 year old DD got the drop down bed.

We have sailed DCL 10 times and stayed in most cagegories except Cats 1-3. That said I personally would think your mom would be more UNCOMFORTABLE on a blow up bed than the sofa bed. I have slept on the sofa bed and I am 5'8"...had no problems....my son who is 230 lbs. and 6'1" also had no problem. Even if you took out the coffee table it would be a tight squeeze for a blow up bed

Don't forget that the main bed can be separated into 2 regular sized twin beds...it does not have to be left as queen sized.

Blow up beds are low to the floor and I could see an older person having more difficulty getting up out of that.

In the link below you can see a floor plan of the staterooms...now the graphic is actually not correct as in most cabin the bed is before the sofa area. .
