I don't understand the feeling of the DDP being too much food either because we would have to buy an extra meal a day with it. The DxDP worked perfectly for us so I'm glad that it's offered. We never had the 'most bang for our credit' mentality going in to eat...we got what we wanted and the plan still saved us a ton.
Thank you, you totally understand how we feel. I like the idea of paying upfront and we order what we want (we will not order for the most bang for our credit but order what we want. I know sometimes my husband would not want dessert and that's fine but he would do that even on the DDP)
I think if you're going to do the 3 TS meals a day, that it needs to be planned properly in order to make it work but that it is 100% doable. We did breakfast at 8, lunch at 2 and dinner at 8. We got done just in time for rope drop each morning, broke for lunch just as the kids needed an afternoon rest and then finished our day with a nice dinner. My kids are beyond the nap stage (the youngest did not go on our last trip) so lunch allowed them time to calm down, relax and refuel for a few more hours of fun. They did great at every meal and really enjoyed all the different foods. Plus having our days broken up, really allowed us to focus on a morning and afternoon touring plan and we got everything we wanted accomplished. So it can work with just a bit of pre-planning.
I think eating is part of relaxing time and talking to the family and take it slow. We don't need to ride ever ride or see ever show. I totally agree about lunctime and having the days broken up.
