News reports have talked about the consumers' unwillingness (or inability) to continue making discretionary purchases. Any recent news on BLT sales?

Don't know. I would expect timeshares to be more adversely affected then auto sales.

Does Disney hold the contract financing for buyers internally? Disney's balance sheet and cash flow should be able to sustain a financing operation even in these troubled times. If they do hold the paper, it would make financing as easy or difficult as they want it to be.

My guide reports sales have slowed a bit, but BLT is still selling.

When I visited the DVC sales center at SSR, it seemed quieter than I have seen it. My guide was unaware of any planned changes in BLT incentives.

Not for us. DH and I just purchased a 175 BLT contract now we are founding members. I will gladly keep my Hyundai for BLT. ;)

Me too. I decided to keep my 6 year old Subaru (which will last for another 120k miles at least) in order to be able to by AKV and then VGC when it goes on sale.

Edited, we made our puchase about a month ago and I don't regret it for a moment. For us personally it's not THAT much money and I'd rather put extra money into DVC than into the markets right now. At least I'll get something for it.

Some sort of gift - no biggie.

I just figured that if I were going to become a DVC member I was going to do it in a way that would most guarantee a piece of VGC. I am most certain there will be oodles of points available for non-founding members but I don't know if that will be true for everyone and I wonder whether it will be true for the general public. With the economy going the way it is I think it might get to the public but I doubt everyone who wants points will get them. Who knows?

I LOVE DLR and really want this.

How long ago did you make your purchase?

We did an quick trip Oct 12- Oct 17. Saw the model on Tuesday Oct 14 and fell in love with it. I asked the guide how long this model was built. He smiled and said since Animal Kingdom model. So all you people wonder what that door was it was to the new BLT. The guide also said if anyone was to go thought that door without clearance they were fired. The founding members get their name on plate or brick in the fountain at BLT. We wanted BLT to book 11 month window. Since we own at SSR we can always get a room as there. We have 370 points at SSR. My goal was to book Sun- Thursday at BLT then book Fri and Saturday at SSR at 11 month mark if I did not have enough points at BLT. Then try to swap SSR reservation for BLT. If not We rent a car so it does not matter. We love SSR and as crazy as it sounds we love the Carousel building.

Is there a link to photos or room layouts at BLT or any info re rest of the resort?

I scanned the floor plans too :

studios are 329 sq ft
one bdrm is 803 sq ft
2 bdrm is 1,152 sq ft
GV is 2,044 sq ft

We visited the BLT models and noticed that the sink for the bathroom is in a separate room with the Kitchenette.

So there are two sinks in the Kitchenette area.

My SO was not too keen on not having a sink in the bathroom.

Did anyone else notice this? Is it a big deal to anyone?

if you think about it, all disney hotel rooms have the bathroom sink separate from the toilet and shower - not usually quite this far apart, but still. It will be a bit odd the first day maybe, but not that big of a deal.

farscape,
Yes--you are referring to the studio configuration? If memory serve me, the second bath in the 1br has a sink in the bathroom. The master bath in the 1br has the toilet and shower in one room and then a sink and jacuzzi in the other room.

The configuration of the studio for BCV, BWV, VWL and SSR have the toilet/tub&shower in one room and the bathroom sink just outside the door, too. It is just that the kitchenette area is closer to the bathroom sink area in the BLT than in the others.

There are some other features in BLT that are different.

1. There is not as much closet space. For me, it is not a big issue because we don't generally stay for long periods of time so I only have a few things to hang up.

2. I didn't see any counter space or drawers in the 2nd bathroom to store toiletries (may have missed it).

3. I am not sure I like the frosted glass bathroom doors for all the bathrooms. Especially for the 2nd bathroom in the 1BR which you walk by on your way into the unit.

What I am anticipating is the 2nd Bathroom in the 1BR! And being able to accomodate up to 5 people in a 1BR unit. I think a 1BR might be our preferred option.

My understanding is Yes.

Now if Disney Financing and DVC sales worked for the same investor, they'd get everyone they could into financing (possibly with pay-ahead dues)

Since DVC knows they will be increasing point prices in the future, then as long as dues are paid, they should not care if someone never makes a loan payment and defaults on the loan, as they can then sell the defaulted contract for more money in the future. (price increase may be = to interest received)

But since they probably always work as seperatley managed profit centers, that'll never happen.
