If you're not sure what I'm referring to, please check out the Documentary 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead' on Netflix...then read on. :)

If you DO know what I'm talking about, can you tell me how to get through the first few days? I'm hungry, I have a headache and right now I'm craving everything that I'm not supposed to eat. I mostly am doing this with DH to help him through it, but I would also really like to eat healthier as well. Any tips/favorite recipes are greatly appreciated!

I haven't, but you have me interested. I'm going to check it out on Netflix.

I don't post much, more of a lurker on the boards. But I did a 30 day juice feast about 2 weeks after I watched the movie the first time. OMG, it was great :) I lost 28 pounds and changed the way I ate.. and I've kept it off. I'm itching to do another one but haven't found my will power again. The first 3 days were difficult... drink tons of water and go to bed early. I don't think I ever got over being hungry, every evening I was starving from like 4 on but otherwise it was ok, I just learned not to let myself get too hungry before I had a juice otherwise I was even more tempted. Please feel free to ask any questions, I'll be happy to help you out. I'm getting ready to do another one probably starting the 2nd week in Jan. I've learned that I have to be all or nothing. I've tried several times going with 2 juices a day and eating dinner with the family and I just can't do that. I've found some great juice recipes online if you'd like any of them let me know.

I just watched the documentary and it was really interesting. I like the idea of a 'reboot' and breaking free from processed foods.
Those of you who tried it, did you go out and buy a juicer or did you use something you already had at home?

Hi guys! So I fell off the wagon on Day 1... I couldn't cut all meat and bread out of my diet cold turkey, so I revised my plan. I decided to greatly increase my daily fruit and veggie intake and drink a fresh juice as well while adding a small amount of protein and whole grains. That worked really well for me and I LOVE the juicing! The only thing I don't like is how expensive and time consuming it is. I spent $200 on enough fruits and veggies to juice/make the recipes for 5 days for two people. I think maybe once I get the hang of it and figure out what juice combinations I like I'll be able to cut way down on time and costs. DH on the other hand has been doing great!! I can already tell that he's lost weight. We both feel like we have more energy already and we've only been juicing for a week. Just to clarify a little.. We started with the Express Reboot which consists of 5 days of a vegetable and fruits only diet with juicing AND eating. It's not just the juicing. The website actually has some really great recipes that we both enjoyed and DH is NOT a veggie fan. One of our favorites was the acorn squash stuffed with portobello mushrooms & sage..YUM!

Now that the initial Reboot is over, DH is going to continue on fruits and veggies only until our next trip to WDW which is in two weeks. He may have some meat based protein or whole grain pasta here and there but is really focusing on a plant based diet. I am also going to continue juicing every morning and eating more plant based foods. I'm going to pick up a vegetarian cookbook to get some more yummy recipes.

For those of you who liked the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead documentary, I think you'll also like another one I just watched. It's called Forks over Knives and it's also on Netflix right now. It's a documentary that shows the benefits of eating a plant based diet. Personally, I found the information to be really interesting and I plan to incorporate a lot of what I saw into my family's diet. I seriously don't think I could ever be a total vegan or vegetarian, but after watching both of these documentaries and seeing some eye opening facts about what foods are good for us and what foods aren't good, I am really going to try hard to change what my family eats for the better as much as I can.

Oh! To answer your question about the juicer... Yes, I went out and purchased a juicer because I figured that if I was going to be juicing every single day I needed to try it with the right equipment. I'm sure you could get similar results by using a blender and then straining the juice to make it thinner but you'll also have to spend more time preparing the veggies. (cutting and removing skins, pits, etc). I went with the same brand as the guy in the film, Breville. I did not get the same model he had because I didn't want to spend $450 on a juicer. I ended up with the Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor which came to about $200 on Amazon.com. I know that Bed Bath & Beyond sells the same juicer but it's usually not in stock so you have to order it, but I think you'd be able to use the 20% off coupon by buying it from them. So far I really like this juicer. Yes, it's a pain in the neck to take it apart after juicing but at least all of the parts are dishwasher safe! I'd be happy to answer any further questions that anyone might have. I hope you're Reboot is going well!
