Have any of you been to WDW for more than a week?

We are thinking of going to WDW for 2 weeks next June! (don't know if we can afford it but we would like to...)

Any observations or special deals?

Hey, there are a few ways you can do it.

Obviously you can do an annual pass (I'm sure you have that already!)

Or you can check the budget board for some other lengthy stay deals.. one was the FITS (Fun in the Sun) pass. I think this was a 30 day pass which (I think) included EVERYTHING and a breakfast (could be character or not).

There was a 10 day pass floating out there as well.

We've gone for 14, but did a Flex Ticket.. we saw Universal, IOA, Seaworld, Wetn Wild, and Busch Gardens.

We took our longest trip, 10 days, back in December. It was wonderful! We were able to take things slow and do a lot of things we normally dont do(mini golf, rent surrey bikes, resort hop, etc...). If schedules and money allowed, I would definitely like to do another 10 (or even up to 14) day trip sometime in the future.

We just got back from a 2 week June trip. Our dates were May 29-June 12. The first week was okay but the second week the crowds had really picked up.
If you do go in June I suggest early June (the first 2 weeks). We did have about 3 days in which we didnt even go to any of the parks. Just rested, dh and bil played golf and then had lunch at Espn.

I went for 2 weeks with my family about 12 years ago. I remember it being awesome- nice and relaxed... knowing that you have TWO Wednesdays, for example, was really nice. Ever since that trip, going for a week has seemed like too little. But, it's better than nothing!

We hae done l0 days in Florida, but not all in Orlando.

One week of theme parks is enuf for me. Prefer to combine Disney/Universal with beaches, too.

For me there is a lot more to Florida than Orlando.

I would like to do one week Orlando and l week beach, but the cost of a 2 week car rental is a major bite of our budget.

herc.

We did a 10 day trip during our Easter trip. I'm thinking of doing it again during our President's Day break next year.

We used the Fun In The Sun tickets and were able to take advantage of a pretty good code rate. By using meal vouchers, the free breakfast that came with the tickets, and about $100 dollars in "free" Rainforest Cafe GC from mypoints, our meal cost were pretty low.

The only thing I couldn't get a great deal on was the airfare. I didn't book the trip until the middle of January, that was just to late to expect to get good airfare.

I'm looking forward to our next long trip.

I wish!!

I really hope to someday since we're DVC members but DH is a contractor and doesn't get paid when he doesn't work so I can barely get him to take one week off now!

Someday!

We are going for 10 days in October/November. This will be our first trip past a week. I am pretty excited to be going for that long! We are buying Annual Passes and then getting an AP rate on the hotel room. We are staying the first 3 nights at the ASMovies because Elliot is a Buzz fan and it makes the trip cheaper then we are moving for a full week to the Polynesian. As far as food goes, I am buying quite a few vouchers as Chris and I often split a meal anyway. This is saving us quite a bit on meal costs! I can't wait!!!! 120 days couldn't come fast enough!

You'll have more time for taking in the few dinner shows they have available and trying some of the restaurants you'd normally not get a chance to visit.

You could also spend some time exploring Fort Wilderness, visiting the petting zoo, maybe riding the horses, or just hanging out. They also run a nightly movie and they make smores. You can either bring your own supplies or buy them there.

I hear a lot of people talking about visiting the various resorts, but I can't say that I've ever done it.

You're also able to enjoy the pools at your resort a little more. Head to the parks in the AM, then back to your resort for midday breaks. Once you're refreshed, you can tackle the parks again in the evening.

You can rent boats, schedule fishing trips, go skiing, and enjoy the water mice if any of that appeals to you. You can also go for a bike ride.

There are also various tours you can schedule.

That's about all I can think of right off the top of my head, but I know there are many other options if you don't like any of these.

I've done 9 days twice and it's great. We have annual passes so we don't feel the need to spend all our time at the parks. The first extended trip was to do all the stuff we never had time to do before, such as sit on the porch at Liberty Tree Tavern in the rocking chairs, search for the wedding ring in the pavement at the Haunted Mansion, see ALL the movies at Epcot, take a leisurely stroll thru all the animal exhibits at AK.

Our 2nd long trip was "resort time." We stayed at BW and WL and rented boats, bikes, and spent lots of time at the pool and spa. It was fabulous.

Thanks for the replies! We are thinking about going the 1st two weeks of June next year. We will drive down and stay at ASMo. My parents, DH and 2 year old DS will be going with. I was thinking it would be better for my parents and DS if we took it slow and I'd hate to miss everything. I think we might do the 10 day thing, leave on Saturday and get there on Sunday night and have Monday through the next Weds. to play.

In 2001 after spending 6nights at the Wilderness Lodge we added on another 3nights instead of going to MILs

We do 10 days usually. ITS AWESOME. Its so much more relaxed. Only complaint is that were about done by day 8.

OFF TOPIC- This time we might do two 5 day trips.
Gas- $120
Lodging- $120

itd be $240 more to take 2 trips. I think we'll be taking 2 trips!!

We stay 15 days. The trip seems so much more relaxed. We use APs and have gotten some really good room rates. The APs also give give discounts on some dinners and tours.

The first time we took the kids in 97 we went for 7 days. DH said never again, that is not enough time :) ! When we have taken them back it has been for 10-12 days. This time in October we will be taking them for a week as this is the last trip with all of them, unless DH says yes to Christmas again! Hmmmm never know I got two kittens out of him recently without even saying a word :p . I love going for the extended time we feel like we get the most bang for our buck when we do this.

We go for about 17 days. Right after Thanksgiving and the first two weeks in December. Of course we can only do this by staying off site. We stay at the Travel Lodge suites and it's only about 10 minutes away. $40 a night is a lot easier on our pockets than staying on site. You do lose some of the magic, but I'd rather spend more time at the parks then go for less time and stay onsite.

10 days at Shades of Green over Easter 2 years ago and
10 days over Christmas at a suite resort off site. Both times,
we took two days off to sleep in and relax at the pool or just
play a round of minature golf. We went to the parks either
at rope drop til about 3pm or around 4pm and stayed til closing
but never all day. We went slow and did lots of people watching,
DS got lots of autographs the first long stay and didn't have the
least bit of interest for that this last time. We also spent quality
time at DTWNDISny this last trip-Quest, House of Blues and
some shopping. Both trips our room cost was $89 per night.
At Sierra Suites, breakfast was included and we had a kitchenette
for popcorn, water, burrito fixens. We bought 6 day passes with
features so we had activity for all days but not always in a park.

We did a 14 day trip one year. It gave us the chance to do SeaWorld too, which I enjoy.

Once you are over 8 days worth of stay, an Annual Pass is one thing you should look at. I never heard of the Fun In The Sun pass, but it might be worthwhile too.
