Have any children ever fallen overboard?

Don't really know how the kid got out of the water...must have climbed up by the dock.

I do know that because he was in soaking wet clothes and when they swiped his KTTW card it showed he was supposed to still be onboard....they figured out what happened (along with some eye witnesses who reported it).

I don't mean to give you something else to worry about, but reading this thread reminded me of my biggest scare on the cruise. After docking at St. Maarten, I wanted to get a picture of my family on the dock, in front of the Magic, with Goofy cleaning the ship in the background. After positioning them just so and then taking the picture, my then 3YO DS became intrigued with the water in front of the ship. He was just looking, mind you, but with no plexiglass or rail it is a scary sight.

it was very very difficult for us to open our verandah doors, so i think it would be even harder for a child (it took us a while to figure it out and it was not that easy to do even after we had)..

however let me warn you about something i did read on this board a while ago...
someone posted how when they first got on board, they went out on their verandah to have a look....their child (i think a 3 year old) managed to close the door on them when they were out on the verandah...
that is, the parents were on the verandah and the 3 year old was now alone in the room with the parents locked out....
i don't recall how they managed to get out of that predicament (clearly they did, or else she wouldn't have lived to write about it)...
but it's something to be careful about....

I could hardly figure out how to open the verandah door...and I am 30something. Don't think you have to worry to much kids getting out there unattended.

That is too funny:jumping1:

We had the same problem. The old saying 'it doesn't take a rocket scientist' and my husband is a rocket scientist, (at least he was one in a past profession). We had to call and ask how to open the door!

I'm sure you're not alone in this fear but I have never heard of it happening. the railings are high and there is a lot of plexiglas around.

I believe a teen did once jump overboard when the ship was in port but that was a voluntary (and stupid) act.

I know that wasn't one of your kids!!!!!!!

Personally, I like the verandah rather than the navigator's verandah. You can see through plexiglass but have to stand on something or get lifted up to see through wood!!! First cruise was NV, after all, it was just V! We got tired of lifting our son up to see the water!

On our first cruise the lock didn't work at all so it was unlocked all the time...the second one the lock was broken in the locked position so the had to come with tools and get it unlocked and then it stayed that way, they said they couldn't fix it that cruise. The first cruise my daughter couldn't pull the door open but this time around she could if she really tried and tried...she never went out there on her own but when we were out there she would open it and come out with us.
