The papers are turned in, the exams are completed and I can finally look forward to the sweet sweet freedom of summer... for the next week. Remember the days of summer when, as Phineas and Ferb so eloquently put it: There's 104 days of summer vacation (love that show)? Sigh, welcome to the real world of thesis research and internships... But the next week's gonna be awesome!
Too bad it's so hot right now! 90 degrees in June in Ohio, yuuuuck! In case you needed to know, here's the best way to stay cool, according to my cat, Oz:

Thought you all needed a good laugh!
Not much is obviously going on in the Disney trip-planning frontier, but I wanted to share a website I discovered recently. It's called
SimpleDisneyThings and it is my little dose of Magic every day

Here's an example:
Seriously? Adorable.
I love reading through the author's little postcards and realizing "hey, other people feel the same way I do!"
So, to bring a little Magic and Cheer into your day, I give you my top ten SimpleDisneyThings postcards:

I looooved the old Star Tours. I use to walk through the queue and pretend I really was in the Star Wars universe, boarding the ship to fight the evil empire as a brave Jedi... but I digress

Man I hope the new one is as good as the old one...

The Tronorail is a new Disney memory for me. I was so excited that they re-did a monorail just for Tron that is was definitely on my list of top things to to see when I went to the World last December with my boyfriend's family. Of course, we NEVER saw it. We even sat right outside Figment for a good hour JUST to see the Tronorail go by (Spoiler Alert: it never did).
Here's us waiting:
It was the day I was leaving and we spent the morning in Magic Kingdom. My boyfriend's parents are DVC members at the Boardwalk so we were boarding the monorail for one last journey to Epcot to pack up my things to catch the ME. We're waiting at the TTA for our Epcot monorail and guess which vehicle pulls up? The blue one? The green one? THE TRONORAIL!!!
Not only did I get to SEE the Tronorail but I got to RIDE the Tronorail all the way to Epcot on my very last day. Such a Magical Moment!
Of course when I came back to the World in March, every time I looked up I saw the Tronorail flying by

I LOVE EE. It's such a well designed, thought out ride and it never gets old... (except the recent lack of Yeti on the ride. Seriously, FIX ME!). But the queue for this ride certainly holds a special place in my heart. I'm currently in Graduate School getting my Masters in Anthropology. Ultimately I'd like to take this degree to work in a museum. I love to work with the cultural material past, and I think museums are an invaluable part of our society. However, walking through the EE line, I realized I could combine my two great passions, educating the public through the material past, and Disney! I'd love to work at Disney and help with the design of exhibits just like EE. It's just a pipe dream, really and I'd love to work anywhere remotely resembling a museum (or work anywhere in general at the moment) but the EE line was the first real place I realized I could work at Disney and still do what I love!

This part of the park is becoming increasingly overlooked, but as a child I loved those bouncing fountains. They reminded me of Figment, which I equally loved and I truly thought that water was magical. There was a jumping fountain in a mall near my hometown that I always insisted on going to just because I wanted to see their jumping fountains! I'm so glad they still have the fountains and I make a point of walking past them on every visit. I hope they never get rid of them!

This one is another blast from my past. As a child, I went to Disney with my parents and some family friends at the age of 5. Every night, myself and the other little girl on the trip insisted on riding Figment and Spaceship Earth. Every. single. night. of the trip. We just loved Figment and thought we were so cool because our parents let us ride together in our "Time Machine" on SE. Whenever I see that giant Golf Ball, it reminds me of that trip...

I know this show isn't everyone's favorite, or even on everyone's To Do list, but I love Fantasmic. I think it's so magical and the end is definitely my favorite. If I ever need a good cry, or just a dose of Pixie Dust I watch
this video. Sigh

Need I say more? I'm one of those monorail addicts and I knew how to say "please stand clear of the doors" in Spanish before I knew any other Spanish words... I, of course, had to buy the shirt:

I was TERRIFIED of roller coasters as a child. Finally my parents convinced me to go on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I was so scared! But I went on the ride and guess what? I LOVED IT! That same trip we rode it at night when the fireworks were going off and I thought it was the best way to see Fireworks. For that reason, BTMR will ALWAYS be my favorite ride at Disney World and is always on my MUST do list.
2.
The PeopleMover is the best. Seriously. Probably number 2 on my list of rides. I have so many happy memories on that ride and I definitely think it has the most "bang for your buck." the wait:ride ratio cannot be compared. I love going through the Space Mountain and Buzz buildings. So much fun!
AND....

I have no idea what is about this dude's leg, but I ALWAYS have to comment on it when I go under the bridge. I just think it's amazing that the Imagineer's took the time to put hair on his leg. No one would have noticed if it wasn't there but the fact that it is there makes me so so happy! What does it say about me that body hair makes me happy?
So there you go! If you haven't visited this site yet I strongly encourage you to check it out! I hope you enjoyed my list. Don't worry, there are plenty more of those postcards that I hold near and dear to my heart that I'm sure I will be sharing with you in the months to come. But for now I'm off to celebrations of graduations, Gatlinburgs, and grooms (and brides, but that ruins my alliteration).
See ya real soon!
