the way they have it set up at the moment is that all rooms are linked to the hub teleporter lobby (not to each other). As long as people just pass through the hub to an open room (via one of the telporters) they should be ok. I see your point though if people start hanging in the teleporter room. Or because of the sheer numbers of people passing through it the teleporter room gets on the popular list and non dis peeps come in there and wander around.

I donated a room. My mule can stay in her room while my other mules bop around. That's her job any way right. lol. I can monitor multiple mules at a time.

All good points Bezoar ....since this is our First Official BIG Dis event, I know there have been loads of smaller ones. This will be a learning expierence.

I think the central hub will work(I hope)and what if we add a few other teleporters in a few of the rooms linking rooms within the network?


Room Volunteers it is up to you what you do with your rooms as far as furnishing goes, just remember this is a mule event so sparseness would be approiate.

It would be great if we could have a bouncer in the hub and upon entering you would have to give a password but I can not see a way to do that without Canadian having to be in that room the whole event which is unfair.

We could add more rooms and when a hosts leaves the room he/she could remove the teleporter in that room so we would not be able to link to it and passwords would have to be given upon entering each room.

But then that makes this a private party not open to the rest of VMK and do we want to do that?

I can remove the furniture from the hub room to discourage loitering. I can also leave my main character in there for the afternoon, so that anyone can enter that way, however I can't guarantee that I will be able to monitor comings and goings. We could block the doors in the event rooms so that people would have to enter through the hub. If people try not to congregate in the hub, this would make it so that you would have to search the room to get in. Of course even with the entrances blocked, people will stand in the door and say "how do I get in", "let me in", etc.

I think the key to a hubbed party is to try to keep it spread out over a couple of rooms so that there isn't one "popular" room and then the leftover people. Once room numbers hit about 10 in one room, we should try to split that party off. (like a kitchen party in real life ) Let me know if you want me to change anything I have set up so far.

Sounds like your set-up is going to work great, especially if people stay out of the hub room, to keep it freed up.

I'm not really involved in the planning, but might I suggest some more?

How about leaving the party open to everyone, Dis or non-Dis? Just think of how many people are here at the Dis now, thanks to VMK! And I think that's happened because we are a friendly, inclusive group of people.

If "strangers" drop-by and are promptly booted, what does that make people think of the Dis? On the other hand, if they drop by and join in, and have a good time...?

And besides, it's just about impossible to keep it a private party anyways. Even if you block off the entrances, you'll have 5 people behind the barriers, going "Let me in!! Let me in!!", regardless of whether the owner is present. And, you probably don't want to have the owners trapped in "their" rooms.

I wonder how you could encourage "mingling", to get people not to all congregate in one filled room?

If only film were cheap: wouldn't it be fun to have the room owner in their room, taking pictures of everyone as they wandered through? Maybe more fun for a non-masquerade ball. I still want to collect and put up pictures of more of my VMK friends, but I can't afford it...

If only we could have unique pins: wouldn't it be fun to have a "stamp the passport" setup, where each room you walked through, you could collect a pin? Your mule could then display the rooms s/he had been through. (Actually, you could do this: strip the mules of all their NPC pins, hand them out in each room. Of course, trading probably wouldn't work.)

Again all great ideas Bezoar...I had thought this morning about a scavenger hunt involving the camera but then the Mules do not have cameras! too expensive!

YAVN!!!! we need cheaper cameras and film so we can have fun without breaking the bank!

Since this is a mule event (sparseness and all) how about falling chair? (not chairs)

the room owner has 2 barriers to section off a corner of the room, then its everyone into the center of the room. one (and only one) chair is placed and its a mad dash. THe first 5 people to win each round(sit in the seat) go to the corner section. After 5 rounds, everyone who did not win goes to the opposite corner of the room, they are sectioned in (by moving the barriers from the other corner) and the 5 remaining people all compete in one last round to sit in the sole falling chair lol. The winner of the final round gets their choice of either keeping the chair (preferably a lowly barrell chair) or picking from one of 5 fabulous npc pins from the room owner.

only thing is the room owner has to run the game in their room, which i can do no problem. but it would spread the people out more if we did it in every room at a set time (say 10pm or something like that).

Anyway, just an idea.


on more, how about the "Look poor like me dress up game"? The room owner, and one selected player of the opposite sex will each be on one side of the room (say girls on the left side, boys on the right) and they will change into something but not hit ok yet. They will count 1-2-3 (by typing in the text message area) and on 3 both the hosts will hit ok, and their clothes will change. The first player on each side (Male host will watch the male side, and female host the females) anyway, the first player on each side to quickly change into the same exact outfit as the host and hit ok to show their outfit wins an npc pin. one thing, the hosts outfits they pick must be standard issue clothes, nothing purchased, and include no hats as they vary from mule to mule. just shirt, bottoms, and shoes.

But... your mule has more than the clothes he's wearing, or any leftover credits at all to actually buy any more clothes? Sounds like your mules are treated more nicely than mine; mine might go on strike if he finds out...

Oh, and as far as I know, limited clothing goes the other way mostly -- there are a number of clothing items that you can get when creating a character, that are not available afterwards. The exceptions, of course, are the 'limited edition' clothes (ball gowns, space suits, etc.).

I have sent mousepartygrl a PM regarding a space room and teleporters.

Here are a few contest ideas I had for the party that I passed on to Maltoo. I think the secret phrase one has the most potential:

There was talk of a scavenger hunt. What if there was a picture on the wall of each room that told you to wear a certain pin (an NPC or something that most would have like pirate magic or bronze fireworks or bronze mickey) Then once you are wearing all the right pins, you have to find a certain character, show them and then you are entered into a draw for a prize.

Another idea I had, was that people with prizes to give away could pick a certain phrase that would have to be said. For example, my phrase could be "I like canadian bacon". If someone thought they figured out my extra character they could come up and use the secret phrase and I would note their name and have a draw later. If there were several people all with different secret phrases, this would encourage interaction between guests. It might be funny to have people running around and spouting off secret phrases to everyone they meet.

You could have a best dressed/worst dressed/ugliest/prettiest etc. clone. Whatever might work. You need to judge or have someone else judge for this though.

so you're saying we would post our phrase here on the dis?

For example if mine was "I'd like some chocolate MousseDude" (since you cant say Mousse in vmk (yet) lol)

Then people would simply walk up to anyone, and say it? In other words if my mule was named john smith, they would walk up and say "John Smith i'd like some chocolate MousseDude." and i would write their name down and draw for a prize later? and if they walked up to me an said "John smith, i like canadian bacon", i would just not write them down.

is that the general idea?

sounds pretty cool. It will be funny, like you said, to have people running around saying weird things to everybody like " i bent my wookie", or " i will have some gonganzola" (which you can say in vmk btw lol).

I guess the mules should make sure their secret phrase can be said in vmk before posting it right?

Sounds like a good ice breaker and a lot of fun canadian.
