Have a surprise, short notice trip. Which resort would be best for us, given these factors?

With these factors, which resort do you think would be best for us?

I would also think…Which resort should we stay at Now or never in case a company expense paid trip is never offered again.
It’s a big deal to see the monorail going thru the resort at any age !
Plus those rooms just received the update!
They will always remeber staying at the Contemporary.

I voted for AoA because the older child could have own area. But decided to change to CBR because of the water slide.

Beach club sounds like the obvious winner. Your teenager gets a water park and you can walk to Epcot!
Beach Club is my most favorite resort. <3 If we could've, I definitely would've!

Unfortunately not for the dates we're going. :( Probably because it's so short notice.

My family just booked using the Disney+ deal and Beach Club wasn’t one of the included resorts, which is probably why it wasn’t showing up.

It’s myself, my husband, our 13yo and almost 2yo. We’re going to be there 6 days/7 nights. My husband will be attending a convention during the day at the JW Marriott Grand Lakes for 3 days and joining us for 2-3 park days, and me and the kids will likely do a rest day in the middle of our stay while hubby is at his conference.

We’ve narrowed it down to these options based on budget, availability, commute for hubby, and some preference. Stay is from 08/19-08/26, and I won’t have the car and have to rely on Disney transport. I didn’t choose the views-- they were the cheapest option at each resort. These are room only amounts based off available discounts.

1.) Coronado Springs, Standard Room - $1686.60
  • Cheapest option, 20-30 mins to conference
  • Only bus option, has internal loop

2.) Port Orleans French Quarter*, Garden View - $1806.30
  • Small resort so only 1 bus stop, 20-25 mins to conference
  • Has DS boat, great pool/kiddie area
  • Though theme is just ‘home’ for me, it’s interesting to my husband & 13yo

3.) Caribbean Beach, Preferred Room – $2580.87
  • 20-25 mins to conference
  • Skyliner hub, close to Riviera for extra food options
  • Big resort with internal bus loop

4.) Art of Animation, Cars or Lion King Suite - $2997
  • Possibly shortest commute, 15-20 mins to conference
  • Skyliner + only 1 bus stop
  • Only option for 2 bathrooms and separate sleeping space for teen
  • Also only kitchenette
  • “Okay” pool because no slide (13yo’s words not mine!)

5.) Contemporary, Garden Wing - $3004.66
  • Possibly longest commute, 20-35 mins to conference
  • Monorail, bus, plus WALK TO MK
  • Most expensive option, won’t be fully reimbursed by husband’s company
  • Might not use deluxe extra hours due to dates
  • Least impressive pool area

*Riverside was excluded as the theme is also “home” and I wasn’t impressed by the kiddie area for my toddler.
Cars suite all the way. There are three different pools all with incredible theming. You'll also have access to the Skyliner. Also Cars suites are very very close to food court and big blue pool.

Port Orleans is one of my Favorites. We stayed there in May and it was pretty well centrally locateed for Bus travel to lik, everywhere. Pretty much everything was 10 minutes or less except for Animal Kingdom. Also, beignets.

I'd do a suite at AoA for the space, or POFQ. Definitely look into the D+ discount.

ETA: I see you booked POFQ- HOORAY!! We'll be there 8/18-8/23!

There are so many pro's and con's to each one. All are good choices. . From reading your posts, your kids have got great parents and will have a great time no matter where you stay. There is nothing wrong with going cheap this time around and then save your $$$$ for when the four of you will be together 24/7 for your entire Disney vacation in 2023, 24 or 25.

I think you will enjoy POFQ. We stayed there many times over the years and I guess I would have to say it was our favorite. We really enjoyed all of the resorts we have stayed at during our many trips so it would be difficult to pick one over the other. As far as the pool/slide, my daughter loves pool time and she has enjoyed the sea monster slide from the time she was a toddler up through her late teens.
The very best place to stay on property, with the largest deluxe room and the most usable outside area is in our own RV at Fort Wilderness. I know that wasn't on the list but maybe a thought for the future! ::yes::
