We are planning on taking a family vacation to Disneyworld. We want to stay 12 days. Can I make ressies for the 12 days, or do I have to make two different ressies? Also is it 11 months from the day of arrival? I am concerned because I have heard they only take ressies for 7 days. We have never stayed longer then 7 days on points so this is all new to me.

Thanks so much!!:santa:

Call MS on your 11 month reservation day of your arrival and book the first 7 days of your trip.
Then you can do one of the following for the other five days:
Call each day and add on one more day to your reservation until you get the 12 days of your trip.
Call five days later and on the five days that you could not book on your first call.

I would recommend calling each day and adding on until you get your 12 days.

Yep what com_op_2000 said. It is not a good system. I loathe making reservations with DVC. Then once you have the total reservation made, call back a couple days later and confirm you actually have the correct days and they used the correct points. I have seen mistakes each and every time.

Unless you are booking a hard to get reservation, why not just wait 5 days past the exact 11month window? Then you can call and book all 12 days in the same call, at the same time, under a single reservation without modification.

I just reserved 10 nights in a 1 bedroom at OKW for mid-May with no problems at all. Unless you are looking for Spring Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas Week, Marathon, etc., you should be fine delaying the process a few days.

Nor do you need to call EVERY DAY to add on to an existing reservation. The room can not go back into bookable inventory until 11 months from the final day of your reservation. For instance, say a resort has 3 one bedroom units. Unit #1 is booked on November 1 for October 1 to October 7, unit #2 is booked on November 2 for October 2 to 8, and Unit #3 is booked on November 3 for October 3 to 10. No one could call before November 7 to book a new reservation for a one bedroom for October 7, but the person holding the October 1 to October 7 reservation could call on November 5 to extend the reservation. It would have to be available, unless the room is going out for scheduled maintenance.

I agree with Chuck. No need to call every day unless you are booking a very high demand part of the year.

Or unless other people are extending reservations (like the OP) or "walking" reservations. In any event, it shouldn't be necessary for most times of the year.

The one tip I would add is to let MS know what you are doing (planning on 12 days) the first time you call to book the first seven days. In the past, they've held off on sending a confirmation for my reservation until the complete trip was booked. That way you know (and MS knows) up front that the two segments will be one reservation.
